I sat at the bar. I ordered a Captain Morgan and Coke and asked for a menu. I did get my drink but never a menu so I ordered from memory of the online menu. My poppers and 1/2 dozen wings were brought to me in a plastic bag. I asked for napkins and maybe a fork. The bartender said ok but never returned. I walked around a bit and another employee provided me with some napkins and forks. At one point a server asked if I had changed my mind and needed a plate. I said I had not and was nearly finished. At the very end after my 50 minuets of tortuous service the bartender stopped by and apologized. I tipped anyway but I will not return for mediocre food, terrible service, and poor attitude. read more

The best wings I have ever had, and I've had some darn good wings before. They take a minimum of 20 minutes to make/cook so while you wait you can enjoy their wide selection of beer on tap. I love everything about this place. Came here for lunch with my parents for something delicious that was quick and casual. I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with fries which is my go-to. Dad ordered the grilled chicken sandwich, and my mom got the lunch special soup and salad. Everyone was pleased with their selections. Awesome quality food with very affordable prices. The service was also great and it's very clean for being a sports bar. I'm not really into sports, but there are TV's lined up against the walls so it is great for people who are into sports. And there is a different sports channel on for practically every TV. The location is also so convenient, since I live in Roeland Park. Solid bar food and fun staff. They definitely have menu gimmicks to skim pennies off of customers. Don't try and get an upgraded side. They are trained to say "slight upcharge" and they charge the entire side. As though you're adding on an entire side, but they don't bring you the side you already paid for. I decided to order online from The Peanut during this time of social distancing & they have been so amazing. I ordered right there and the girl came out right away because I was in the area and asked me and I told her no I'm just waiting I put my order out and so she came back with it when it was time. She was really nice. The wings were so good I decided to come back the next day. I didn't realize until I got there they close at 9 but it was 8:45 I ordered at 8:20. They changed hours and I felt bad showing up late. The day before I discovered jalapeño ranch and omg it is to die for. I waited a little bit for him to come out with my order he knew who I was because I probably was the last order of the day (I'm sorry!) and he said I put some extra jalapeño ranch in there. Yo! This is my favorite place to grab some grub. Bartenders are awesome. Servers are awesome! Everyone very friendly. Super chill spot. The wings and chili cheese fries are the bomb! The Peanut in Mission is a huge location with plenty of seating and TVs along with a large bar. Not only is this location larger than the plaza location that I tend to visit but their menu is also a little more extensive. Although there were new options on the menu, my boyfriend and I opted for their prized chicken wings and chili cheese tots. As soon as the wings were delivered there was a noticeable difference from the wings we are used to. These were heavily peppered. Along with the different taste of the wings, the portion of tots were significantly smaller than the fries we usually order and were about the same price. Each location of The Peanut seems to offer something a little different from the next rather it be ambiance or menu items. read more

I have many friends from the buffalo and upstate N.Y. region who claim these are the worst wings ever. "Too big" "different sauce " After living in KC for 3 years I finally broke down and tried it I can honestly say my friends were wrong about their wings. They are simply the wing portions still joined, and that's just their style. They are cooked perfectly. The course ground pepper adds extra zing over a milder but still tasty wing sauce. The blue cheese was terrible to be honest. But I didn't need it to eat my entire half order. They were delicious. The nachos my girlfriend got were a soupy mess. Overall not bad for the first time. This is the cleanest Peanut restaurant I've ever visited. Our server was great and very attentive. I ordered the triple BLT and baby oh boy it was the best sandwich that I've eaten in a longtime. My sister and I were at The Peanut In Mission trying to watch the KU basketball game. They were playing football games on the big tv's at the bar. There were two groups of men manspreading across the bar drinking. I asked the bar tender if we could swap a tv out so the KU fans could watch the KU game. She asked the guys if they were watching the football game and the replied yes. She was like sorry they were here first. What kind of bar in JOCO refuses to play KU basketball?? So I asked the guys if they would mind scooting over so we could swap tv's and the men told me, "you fucking move." So I asked for the manager. Told him the story about being cursed at by these guys. And the "manager" told me it didn't matter and my sister and I should move somewhere else. We were eating our food! It was unbelievable! I know in my bones it was because we were women. It's total bullshit!! He would have never said anything like that if I was with my husband. Women deserve a seat at the damn bar!! ROCK CHALK!! Rude and not friendly place for KU fans! The food and people are great here! The atmosphere with all the plasmas is another plus!... however I do have to say, if you do decide to dine in the aroma in the room can get to you. There are days that are worse than others! It's kinda gross to me the fact that they have carpet in such a big restaurant. I understand it's easier to upkeep, but it can start stinking! read more

Heard about this place, watched a video about it, and decided today was the day that I try it out. I ordered the BLT with onion rings and Ice Tea. The waiter was nice and the place was clean and inviting. the crowd was live for the game was on and It didn't take long to get the food to the table. From the video and from hearing people talk about the place and the food, I thought that my mind would be blown, but it wasn't. The food wasn't nasty, but nothing I would brag about. The onion rings, I wouldn't order again and I would keep the BLT at the single level! The food was good, but nothing special. My order was $16 and some change and I just feel,as if, I could have went to sonic and been just as satisfied and would have spent less money! If I ever was in the area and I was hungry and the restaurant was open and I had an extra $20 in my wallet and there was a tornado warning and I needed to seek shelter and needed to use the restroom, I would go and eat there again.The only other way I would eat there is if someone else was paying for my food! My Uncle and Aunt went with and they enjoyed there food and the atmosphere, but (not trying to speak for them) I don't think that they will be rushing back either!! read more

The Peanut, of course, is a Kansas City tradition, with numerous locations, so odds are you know about it--good food, especially known for their wings and BLTs, good beer selection, both a good bar to hang out at and a good restaurant, etc. This location maintains those standards, of course, but also stands out in its own right. We got there at 6:45 on a Friday night--yeah, not an optimal time to drop in any restaurant, I know, but we only had a very short wait for a table. The service was fast, and the place is spacious, with a lot of seating, so despite the mass of cars outside (they were parked across the street in the bowling alley parking as well as filling the lot right in front), we didn't have to wait around forever. They were a bit short-staffed (they have help wanted signs out front, so it's just the fact that they're newly opened rather than a deliberate thing), but the manager was out there taking drink orders, too. The manager had accidentally brought me the wrong beer, and caught it himself--I didn't notice--so came over, apologized, and brought me another on the house, which I thought was really good of him. If he hadn't I wouldn't even have noticed it was the wrong beer. My wife ordered a burger, and I got the Buffalo chicken wrap (we just weren't in a wing mood, which is usually what we go to other Peanuts for). The food came out fast, and both were excellent. My wife had gotten fries, and they were a little cold, but the flavor on them was very good. Despite the fact that they had gotten more crowded, they didn't subtly try to get us to leave like some places do, too--we could have sat there for awhile and been okay. One of the more interesting things about the Peanut is that they are good bars, but also restaurants. There were a number of families with small kids there, but it still felt like a bar I'd hang out and drink at. I'm not entirely sure how that works, but if you have kids, it's a decent place to go with the family. read more

This location never disappoints. The wings are AHHMAZING! I love their fries and the homemade ranch dressing. The service is pretty good. It can be quite noisy with the music and tv's but it is a sports bar so I wouldn't expect any different. The mixed drinks are good. I stick to a margarita while my husband enjoys their long islands. It's so hard to steer away from the wings to try anything else on the menu but we have tried a couple of appetizers. All the appetizers are great, especially the pulled pork nachos. When ordering wings it can take up to 20 minutes to cook. If you're like me and want them extra crispy with extra sauce then the wait is a bit longer but totally worth it. read more

BEST WINGS and BLTs in KC. The chef has perfected the recipes. The wings are the full size, have a spicy and spot on buffalo flavor. Cooked to order (so they inform you it takes about 20 minutes). BLTs have shredded cheddar and black pepper. Incredible- haven't had better! My husband and I have been enjoying these items for over 6 years. Great selection of beers, including local KC beers. Lots of quality TVs and are always happy to change a channel for you. Always pleased with the environment and service. read more

Only negative is most of the place is carpeted floor, except around the bar area, I've never understood why places do this? carpet in a bar is never a good idea, go with hardwood or finished concrete. Stopped in today to check out the new Peanut. Sad to report that the Reuben was pretty awful- a soggy sour kraut sandwich. Maybe it was just an off day. My husband and I were excited that we had a Peanut in Mission. We went there for lunch on a Saturday and everything went well until he asked the waitress for a few more pickles for his sandwich. We were quite amazed when she informed him that a few more pickles would cost 15 cents. It wasn't like we didn't have the 15 cents, it was the pettiness of charging for a couple pickles to make one enjoy their sandwich more. After he declined the extra pickles, he informed me that this would be our last visit to the Peanut. Just goes to show how customer service can make - or break - a restaurant. read more

I just tried out the new Peanut in Mission where the old Clarette Club used to be located. They did a complete overhaul of the location, you wouldn't recognize it. You can expect the same prices on their drinks and food. I tried their hamburger basket. The meat was cooked to my order and the draft beer was good and cold. A big improvement from the Clarette Club when they kept serving lukewarm draft beer and bottles. That was one of the main reasons why I quit going there. It looks like the Peanut will be my new neighborhood watering hole. read more
