Anchor and Brine was an amazing experience from start to finish! We visited during the day, and the atmosphere was so peaceful and relaxing. Sitting by the waterfront made it even better. The seating was comfortable, the bar area was nicely spread out, and the views were beautiful. I can't wait to come back at night to experience a different vibe. A huge shoutout to our server, Marko! He was absolutely fantastic. He took our pictures, recommended some amazing dishes, answered every question we had, and made us feel completely comfortable with our choices. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and truly made the experience memorable. The blackened Grouper Sandwich was hands down my favorite. The seasoning was perfect, the fish was cooked beautifully, and every bite was packed with flavor. The Truffle Fries were delicious too. My only personal preference was the tartar sauce served with them. The flavor was good, but the texture reminded me a little too much of mustard. I'd definitely order the fries again...just without the sauce. The Fried Calamari surprised me. The pickled chili flavor caught me off guard at first, but after a few bites it completely grew on me. Paired with the sauce, it became one of my favorite appetizers. And those pickles that came with the Grouper Sandwich...WOW! Easily the best pickles I've ever had. Whatever they're soaking them in, keep doing it because they were incredible. The drinks were just as impressive. We had a white wine, an Espresso Martini, and a Lemon Drop Martini. They were beautifully presented, perfectly balanced, and had just the right amount of liquor without overpowering the flavor. Stopped in for dinner. I usually don't frequent hotel restaurants but this one was highly rated so we gave it a try. This restaurant is completely outside under a patio. Which can get warm in the summer months. We ordered apps to share and drinks. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the options. We ordered apps smoked fish dip, mussels and the parm truffle fries. We liked the mussels and fish dip. The truffle fries were a but surprising. Knowing how much I love oysters and seafood, my husband made a dinner reservation for us at Anchor and Brine on a Wednesday evening during our stay in Tampa. We arrived on time, were greeted right away, then seated shortly after. Located inside the Marriott, Anchor and Brine is primarily outdoors and offers a great waterfront view along the Tampa Riverwalk. We ordered the following: Espresso martini Oysters Ceviche amarillo Grouper sandwich with truffle fries (upgraded the fries) Seared grouper The espresso martini was delish. I loved toasted marshmallows, so I especially enjoyed that addition. The oysters and ceviche were fresh. The seared grouper came with coconut curry, spring vegetables, carrots, and jasmine rice. Although it was tasty, I was hoping for something a bit lighter. That was on me for not reading the description carefully. I didn't try my husband's grouper sandwich, but it looked good. A beautiful waterfront restaurant located inside of the Marriott Waterside hotel. I was staying here overnight with my parents and we decided to get some apps and a drink (espresso martini for me) around 9:30pm. This place is definitely a vibe, especially if you can get a table near the dock. My parents have stayed here and eaten at this restaurant many times so they ordered some of their favorites which were the mussels and calamari. I wanted to order a sushi roll that was light as this was just our first stop. I went with the crab and avocado roll. Our service was excellent from start to finish. Our server was amazing and checked on us throughout our time dining there. The food also came out very quickly. The calamari was cooked perfectly and had pieces of fried banana peppers for a hint of heat. The mussels were cooked in this white wine sauce and was super buttery and flavorful. All of the mussels were large and meaty. The side of sourdough bread that was grilled completed this dish. Dipping the bread into the sauce was everything and more. The sushi roll was also delicious. From the wasabi sauce under the rolls to the freshness of the ingredients, definitely 10/10. read more

Came down here around 10pm on a Saturday night. It was quite lively as lots of people were enjoying the outdoor seating by the water. Needing something to eat since it was late, we checked this place out. Anchor & Brine is located in the lobby of the JW Marriot Waterside Hotel. It is a great option for guests staying there or people looking for a nice place to eat near Water Street. The menu isn't huge and consists of a small variety of small plates, seafood, entrees, and sushi. This was a perfect spot for us as we were only looking for some appetizers to split between us. They offer both indoor and outdoor seating, we ended up sitting inside because we didn't want to wait for a table outside. The service was great and our server Castle did a wonderful job taking care of us. He checking in on us frequently and was very accommodating. For the food, we ordered an Angry Tuna roll (sans the avocado), the Mushroom Flatbread, and Fried Calamari. All of our plates came out in a timely manner and were made to order. The sushi came out first and I was genuinely blown away with how good it was. The angry tuna roll had spicy tuna, cucumber, avocado, tempura, spicy mayo, fresno chili, scallions, and tobiko. I wasn't expecting a hotel restaurant to serve sushi with fish this fresh, but man I was impressed. The roll was pretty large with ample amounts of tuna. Everything was very balanced and I really appreciated the rice to fish to toppings ratio. I would highly, recommend ordering sushi here! The Mushroom Flatbread and calamari were served together and again, I was very impressed with just how flavorful these were. The Mushroom flatbread consisted of caramelized onions, arugula, garlic crema, truffle oil, balsamic reduction, parmesan, and goat cheese. This was perfect for sharing, was light, and just fabulous all around. All the flavor components stood out and there was a perfect ratio of each. Really loved this as well and would also recommend. The calamari was just as good as the other two items were ordered---if not better. The calamari was served with aji amarillo aioli, pickled chilis, shishito peppers, and grilled lemon. This was hands down some of the best calamari I've had. Breaded to perfection, the calamari was crisp and wasn't too chewy or soggy. The peppers, aioli, and lemon added some tang and zest to the dish. Really, really good and the perfect size for sharing. Overall, Anchor & Brine exceeded my expectations. I went in thinking it would just be a standard hotel restaurant and left more than satisfied with my experience. Starting with the service, Castle did such a great job with our table. Everyone is super accommodating and does a nice job checking in on tables, refilling drinks, and picking up finished plates. The food was the best part though! Everything we ordered was just phenomenal! The sushi is a must as the quality of the fish is great. The flatbread and calamari are perfect for sharing and won't leave you disappointed either! Fantastic views with an acceptable lunch If you're coming from the hotel lobby, be sure to walk straight. Back and to the left to find the host stand, this took us a second to really figure out as there was no clear signage From the water, simply do the opposite and you won't miss it! Just to start on a high note I did appreciate the service from the host and from the waitrews, they were very kind and very accommodating. They recognized it was a bit too warm and placed us in the shade, and when my wife's drink came out very incorrect they quickly returned a new one that was to her liking. Great service! Picked this spot as a brunch for Valentine's initially, however found out that they didn't do brunch on weekdays, but that's okay we were hungry regardless and happy to try their lunch menu! I went with the lobster roll because well it just sounded like a perfect idea by the water, I was a little let down it didn't taste all that fresh, but well enough to eat. The chips were crisp so there's a silver lining there I ordered an old fashioned and for a restaurant attached to a major hotel, in this day and age, I expected more for the drink. It came to me watered down and with the wrong ice, if you're an old fashioned drinker you understand the pain with this. Overall not super pleased with the location as they had a lot to live up to, we will be staying at the Marriott in a couple months and might give them another try to see if there's some improvement! read more

A great place! Waterfront restaurants are almost always bad. They're on the water so they get more customers than they need and they don't have to try. But this place is an exception. Very friendly service and great food! Also VERY accommodating with seating preferences and allergies. They don't have to try, but they do anyways. They have an inside bar where you can also order food but are primarily right by a boardwalk that's on the water. A beautiful and relaxing location with great food and service. I've been waiting to try this place for a while! The valet parking situation is tough if it's an event day to warn everyone. For the Marriott (which Anchor and Brine is in) and for the JW Marriott, it is advertised that you get 3 hours free of valet parking with a reservation. However, on an event day (which is essentially the majority of the days now in Tampa), you get 50% off the daily rate of $50. However, if you're going to stay longer, you pay the full rate of $50. We started at Beacon for drinks, and moved to Anchor and Brine for dinner, so we had 2 separate reservations. However, we had to pay the full rate of $50 which was quite frustrating. The valet worker was quite rude about the whole situation, and condescending pointing to a barely visible sign and stating "as you saw when you drove in, it's event parking tonight". I recommend getting there early and finding somewhere else to park to be honest! We were running just on time and meeting our friends, so we did not have time to spare unfortunately. As for the ambiance, this place is exactly what I was looking for! The water views and salty breeze is absolutely perfect. The lobby of the hotel was POPPING with dueling pianos and people dancing. The exterior has a beautiful wraparound bar and nice table seating. The service was good overall. The hostesses seemed STRESSED because of the rain, which makes total sense. Everyone was kind and accommodating. The drinks were all delicious! We had someone at our table try the island oasis which is exactly as it sounds- on island time! I tried the gin blossom which was delightful. Food wise, we tried the ceviche which was refreshing and SPICY. The kale salad + shrimp was just what the doctor ordered for me! Complex flavors with the cherries and macadamia nuts, plus perfectly cooked grilled shrimp. Another friend enjoyed the grouper. The prices are completely fair for the location and ambiance and service provided. Overall, would definitely recommend this place if you're seeking the water vibes and a chill seafood or salad dinner. My caveat would be to figure out the parking situation ahead of time! read more

Anchor and Brine sits on the Tampa Riverwalk with a lovely outdoor dining area that is sheltered in case a storm should move in (which it did), but you can also sit inside. The cocktail menu was great and changes seasonally. The whiskey sunset featured Bulleit bourbon, which is a favorite, but the mojito was a little lackluster (we think the mint hadn't been muddled, or maybe wasn't muddled enough). The stone fruit & burrata salad with maple vinaigrette was sweet and savory, perfectly balanced for a hot summer day. Please note that the stone fruit & burrata salad contains only a tasteful sprinkle of microgreens on top, so it's not served on a bed of greens if that's what you are looking for. The exotic mushroom flatbread was incredible! Perfect textures all the way through, topped with beautiful fresh arugula and shaved Parmesan. I wish I had taken a photo! The entrées were delicious. The lobster roll is a twist on the classic with the addition of Chipotle aioli, and the superfood bowl exceeded my expectations. It was so beautifully presented, I hated to tuck into it but it was worth the destruction. So many complementary flavors and textures! I would definitely order it again. If the weather is nice, I recommend sitting outside, because inside, you choose from cozy private booths near escalators (which didn't seem much used) in a setting that didn't feel like part of the restaurant, or the atrium which had a soaring vaulted ceiling which was consequently extremely loud. The booths themselves are nice, and were our choice, but the location of them feels run of the mill. The hostesses and servers were totally on their game. Located in the lobby area of the Marriott. There is an indoor and outdoor bar. The outdoor bar and table seating has a nice view of the river. They had live music on the Saturday night we were there. One night we stopped in for just drinks and the service was horrible. The next night we had the calamari and turkey sandwich. The calamari was served with whole shishito peppers in it. They looked to be grilled and really added nothing to the dish. I am not a fan of shishito peppers especially when served whole. There really wasn't much else in the dish. The calamari also had a fishy and rubbery texture that was off putting. The smoked turkey sandwich was by far the better of the two plates. It was actually large enough to share. The service was also much better the second night we were there. It's decent enough for a hotel restaurant especially with the river setting. read more
