The Peel is a newer açaí shop that has become one of my favorite spots in the Claremont Village. This is the FIRST place I stop by every time I come to the area. Beyond the range of sorbet flavors and fruit bowls, I love that they have expanded the menu to include sandwiches and smoothies. I personally love the Shake The Date smoothie (with added cacao nibs) and the BBQ Smoked Beef Brisket sandwich. This little joint is so well-kept and aesthetically pleasing, with an earthy artisan vibe that makes you just wanna sit in and chill. The staff is always friendly and quick with orders. The Peel is a cute little place located in the heart of Claremont Village. Before work, I wanted an Açaí Bowl and stumbled across this place. They have kiosks here that take your order, which I appreciate. I enjoy being able to take my time and figuring out what fruit I want in my açaí bowl. The prices here are extremely reasonable, I paid only $10. I got the smallest size and expected it to be really small, but it filled me up! They're not stingy with fruits here unlike a lot of other açaí places. My order came out within a few minutes and I didn't wait that long to get my bowl. My bowl was really delicious and I enjoy how their texture is different than other acai bowls I've had in the past. They also only use fresh ingredients here which is something I appreciate. Seating is limited and parking may be hard to find at times, but the area is nice and I don't mind walking a little to the place. Every time my partner and I enter, we are greeted with kindness and joy. The owner, who I believe prepares all the orders, is an amazing person. She has passion for what she does and she goes above and beyond each time. The spot itself is nice and has its own charm. It is clean and well maintained. The Peel has many items to choose, from smoothies to açaí bowls to even sandwiches. They offer a discount for students as well who may be in the area. My favorite part is being able to build your own smoothie or açaí bowl. Their ingredients are fresh, natural, and sustainably sourced. They even offer toppings I've never seen other places offer, such as bee pollen. There are plenty of varieties to choose from. From the type of milk, to the type of yogurt, to the type of toppings, they have it all. After going to The Peel many times now and trying out a variety of creations my mind can come up with, I was pleased with each order I made. The pricing is even fairly reasonable, especially for the quality and service you are getting. This is by far my favorite smoothie/açaí bowl spot and I will be coming back. The Peel proves that you can achieve great quality and service with fair pricing. If you want a natural and refreshing drink or bowl, this is the place. If I did a blind taste of several Açaí bowl places , I doubt I would be able to distinguish them apart. What this place has that others do not is location. I love this place in the village. It is becoming a spot I frequent often. I live much closer to another juice bar in Cucamonga and its really good. However this little shop has that something extra. The bowls are fresh n delicious and its so cute inside. Big windows great for people watching and welcoming the day. I find a lil nook and read a book. Oh i rhymed! I am a poet I just didnt know it. Anyway my first visit I saw that you order at a kiosk, and I who loves looking people in the eye and getting to know them went to be put off. But actually its perfect because its a time saver. The person behind the counter doesn't have to patiently wait while I decide if I am feeling matcha or coconut sorbet as my third flavor. Or wait while I decide if hemp granola is me. Haha. Well I really recommend you try a bowl from here. Great selection of toppings. Their bowl is a teeny bit higher than other spots. But you're in the village. Everything is better in Claremont. I think the sun shines a lil brighter there too. So pay the tax and pull up a chair. And one small note, please for the love of all things good do not talk on speakerphone to your BF the whole time you are eating there. I really tried hard to tune out your conversation, and I said nothing be cause I am polite. But its a small space and highly respectful to take your smoothie outside and maybe chat on a bench to him. Mia is a very kind lady that gave great recommendations for me and my company. The inside is nice and clean, no complaints. I ordered the blue butterfly smoothie and two build your own bowls. They're all very tasty. All the fruits tasted sweet and ripe. The portions are pretty big in these 16 oz bowls. My blue butterfly is easily the best fruit smoothie I've had in California. My daughter and I had to try out the new açaí place at the Claremont Village. It had a prior name, but the owner told us they're new so we tried them out, and they did not disappoint. We ordered two açaí bowls (build your own). You order it through a computer screen. It's very easy to do. My daughter's açaí bowl was simple but I wanted to try all the good stuff of toppings they had to offer. I was very satisfied with my order! So delicious and will order the same thing when I come back. We ate our açaí bowls inside because the place looks so clean and refreshing. It was a nice experience. I guess with certain things I am not used to change. I LOVED loved the previous place Pepo Melo where you go in, order at the counter and have control over what fruits and how much you wanted included customizing toppings and what not. I don't know why did they change into The Peel. Today I woke up craving an açaí bowl and thought why don't I try this new place out. Maybe it's better than the previous one. Just give it a try, I said. Verdict: it's just okay. I was greeted by friendly staff who tells me I have to order at the kiosk. Really? Okaaaay. How am I supposed to customize and actually have a conversation with the staff like I normally would do? I ordered their Blue Majik açaí bowl and I customized it by adding coconut chia. The chia did not taste right. It didn't taste like coconut not even a hint. The blue açaí was sweet and delicious. The fruits: mango, banana and pineapple were fresh. Their toasted coconut is a must.... But I couldn't exactly put my finger on what was wrong with my bowl. I think it was either the chia pudding or the oatmeal in it that tasted funky. SO good - and affordable, too! I have to say: I rolled my eyes at the Yelp review I saw saying that this place was "cold". It was anything but. I walked in and was instantly greeted by the staff, and the owner was very warm and helpful. If a customer has an issue just talking to an employee over the counter, who are of course there to answer questions and help you with no hesitation, then - YIKES. Please don't leave a review harming a new business with a kind owner just trying to work hard and make it in this economy. The entire world doesn't usually revolve around your preferences. Just a thought. Ok - rant over! I actually appreciate the kiosk to order and I saw that this sets up a fast and easy system for the staff to get through orders. And they made mine FAST. I did a custom-built smoothie with all of the items I usually get (a lot of places actually don't have bee pollen for their smoothies/bowls so I was glad to find this) and it was not overly sweet. Just perfect (and healthy). The decor is very sweet and I'd love to come back to get some work done here, too (good seating right at the window, where you can look out to the beautiful corner street). Also they charge 3.5% for using a credit card which the touch screen where you order never stated. I would have paid cash if i knew before.
