So he promised that he would do all the work. Within months of moving in to our new home he was searching for pool companies. Apparently his idea of doing the work to take care of the pool is writing a check every month. We went thru a couple of different pool cleaning companies that ended up being a disappointment to me because there were times that the pool didn't look as clean as it should and were a disappointment to him because they still expected him to do part of the work like purchase the chlorine pellets, do the surface netting, and maintain the equipment. We have been using San Tan for a few years and couldn't be happier. They take care of everything for us and keep our pool looking great. They supply all the chemicals and if anything related to the pump or pool vac breaks or needs to be replaced they take care of that, too. We literally have to do zero work ourselves. As I mentioned, my husband is usually the one who pays the bills and communicates with the San Tan Pool folks. However, we recently had the pool drained to acid wash the pebble tec (they recommend this every 5 years) and I had the opportunity to watch the husband and wife team in action since I was working from home that day. They took great care to make sure everything went smoothly and were very diligent in the cleaning. They even took care of the white line around the water's edge and fixed a crack in the decking. Our pool now looks like its brand new! I highly recommend this company.

Fast forward almost 4 years and he never ceases to amaze me. He shows up regularly, on time (often early), goes the extra mile on both my pool, its equipment, but also my dogs always visit with him while he is here! Don actually did a good job maintaining my pool. The reality is that pool maintenance techs are a…read moredime a dozen and Don hates his life and takes it out on customers. PRO TIP: The PROBLEM is that Don is really unprofessional. He really really REALLY hates being asked a question about a solution he proposes to a problem. His response usually is, "I've been doing this for 20 years, I don't have time to explain myself, I can get new customers in 20 minutes". PRO TIP: Don't have him drain your pool. He requires that you monitor the pump as it is draining the pool even though you are paying him to take care of everything. If you don't mind monitoring the progress of the pool being drained, ask for a discount since you are doing his job. Also, best not to have the pool drained when you aren't able to monitor. PRO TIP: Don likes to throw the pool debris literally anywhere but a trashcan. Make sure you are very clear with him what your expectations are otherwise he dumps the leaves in your yard right next to the pool or on your driveway or the street in front of your house. PRO TIP: Don likes to repair parts without providing a quote, then he just serves the cost to you in an invoice. Make sure you are clear with him about how and when he can repair or replace parts. PRO TIP: If you are fine working with a decent pool tech who thinks he is Gods gift to pool service and is straight up one of the most curmudgeonly men you will ever encounter, look no further, Don is your guy. There is nothing wrong with his pricing or his maintenance (except his inability to use a trash can). He or is wife will show up, work their magic, and leave within 5 minutes and your pool will be crystal clear. If you blink you will miss them. HOWEVER, anything beyond the basics and Don can get a bit temperamental. I have a 2 year old son, sometimes my son is easier to rationalize with then with Don.
