I was gutted to put my beloved…read moresenior dog down, but I could not have asked for a better experience to provide closure. -The visit lasts 30-45 minutes long. -First comes sedation, which we offered while our dog was licking ice cream and he practically fell asleep in the bowl which was so sweet. We hadn't seen him rest that deeply (*snoring) in quite some time - so this was a gift in itself. -Dr Winnick is wonderful about stepping away, offering space to grieve, whatever is needed. We had about 10 mins with him while sedation took effect. -We also received guidance on how to handle our other dog during the course, having her present. - Next up is the IV with euthanasia. Super quick when administered, but my goodness so peaceful. -She took his clay paw prints after he passed. She invited us to talk to her a little about his life. -We received another moment to say another goodbye, then helped him onto a stretcher brought by Dr Winnick. She had his head on a pillow and wrapped him in a rainbow blanket . -Any animal over 35lbs needs assistance with Dr Winnick to bring to the car. My husband and I each carried a side of the stretcher as we wanted to be "pall bearers" of sorts for our 60lb dog. -Dr Winnick drove away with him when we were ready. - She also gave us materials on how to process loss of a pet with other pets and with our children. We even received a coloring book and story for our kids. Truly just - human kindness. We had ocean waves on the TV, a lit candle, crystals surrounding him, and the smell of bacon in the air. I couldn't imagine a better, more peaceful send off for my sweet boy. We opted for private cremation and will receive ashes in the mail in ~2 weeks. Thank you Dr Winnick for your heart, kindness, and compassion. And Amy who helped us with preparing for the visit and scheduling. The whole experience was seamless and beautiful. We're forever grateful.

Dr. Karen Vine was patient, compassionate and empathetic, walking me thru step by step the process. From calling to make an appointment, receiving reminder emails, and day of texts from our vet, each step was handled with so much compassion. We were able to find a weekend availability which was best scenario so everyone could attend. Dr. Vine was very punctual the day of and gave us a thorough breakdown of what to expect (pain reliever, anesthesia, and euthanasia). We didn't feel rushed at any point, and we were given ample time before proceeding to each stage. She was very respectful and the process was smooth. After the euthanasia, we were able to choose where we wanted the fur clippings. The paw print was perfectly imprinted with Christy's name, which added such a sweet personal touch. We chose to pickup Christy's ashes at Sage, and it was quick. The only thing is it felt very jarring going to an animal hospital filled with so many people and dogs. Considering this was only 2 weeks after the euthanasia, I was still grieving and it was difficult being in that environment so soon. The only feedback I'd give is it'd be more mindful if there was a separate pickup location away from everyone else for more privacy. Dr. Vine sent a sympathy card as well and it was very sweet. Thank you so much for giving Christy such a respectful experience and having her pass comfortably and peacefully. I will definitely recommend this organization to loved ones! Unfortunately, our other dog needed the same journey this morning. Both were over 16 years old. Dr. Smith is absolutely wonderful. Just like Dr. Nagel. Professional, caring, respectful etc... Making the decision to send you pet on their journey is extremely sad and difficult. Once you make that decision, you want someone who not only loves their own pets, but will give your pet the respect and love they deserve to go on their journey. Dr. Smith and her husband are amazing. I highly recommend them to help you in this situation that no one wants to deal with. She was so kind and loving to my dog and tried to even console me (a 57 year old grown man)... which I am sure wasn't easy!! Our pets are a huge part of our lives. They give us so much unconditional love, that even on the darkest days (like today) they teach us about the importance of time and appreciation. She stayed with us while we cried and sobbed as we said goodbye. And she brought a darling gurney, with a pillow and blanket where Kain could rest in a dignified way (after he passed). She was so generous and patient with her heart and time, and stayed with us as we continued with our "memorial" time together. And when it was time for her to take Kain, she had a very beautiful and honoring space in her car for him, that touched our hearts in the most beautiful and comforting way. She promised she would be the one to deliver Kain's ashes, and she did...
