I took my puppy here for a simple bath and nail trim. I had an appointment scheduled ahead of time, and I brought my pup in early like they requested. It took over 5 hours for them to do this service, and I was charged an additional $20 for my pup having an accident on the table. She is 6 months old, and not used to being crated for such a long time. This service should not have taken 5 hours, I called at the 4 hour mark and they hadn't even gotten to her yet, and also asked me what services I wanted, which I had already pre-selected when confirming the appointment days ahead of time. My "not good" 1-star review is based on my experience this morning. I called them up for the first time to see if they would have any openings for a basic nail trim for my dog today or tomorrow. This would be the only service I needed. They requested to first get my full name, email, two different names and phone numbers for emergency contacts, and then my full address before even telling me if they had any times available just for a nail trim! By the time I got to giving my full address, I asked why they needed all that private data and they said that they had to create my online profile before even looking at their schedule and that they had no other options to look things up in their system... so, I denied giving more personal information just to know if they have an opening, I never got to continue the process and told them to please delete all that I had already provided. Sorry, that's too much information for just knowing if I can take my dog in for a 10-minute-long nail trim, I don't need to even give all this information for me to get my own haircut! We came to drop off our dog for a temperament test prior to getting approval for boarding. First of all the staff is very disconnected, rude & unprofessional. We received a TEXT stating that our dog wasn't approved. Upon pick up not one word of his behavior was communicated to us. Not to mention the terrible odor the place has. Their operating procedures don't align with their actions. They claim to only take dogs of a certain size and temperament but I saw aggressive 50+ lbs dogs playing with dogs under 15 lbs in the same play area. I bring my dog to a daycare to play, not to sit in a kennel because she I guess cannot be closely watched enough by staff. We PAY you to WATCH our dogs. Secondly, it is horrific that you are telling people that bites, abrasions and wounds are a NORMAL part of a doggy daycare. As stated before, I was understanding about the scratches as I know dogs can play rough. BUT FOR A DOG TO BE HURT LIKE THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN IN A WELL MONITORED AND WELL TEMPERAMENT TESTED ENVIRONMENT. Accidents happens, yes but THAT IS NOT NORMAL. And if my dog got hurt, or had HIVES, as she did, we should have been promptly notified of it so she could be treated properly when we picked her up. There were two male staff members that night when we picked her up and they both seemed entirely unaware of this feeding record you mentioned so either they were not trained properly or these records do not exist. You also conveniently skipped over the fact we could not get a refund for an entirely bogus reason. So, I assume you also know it makes no sense. I have NO intention of talking to the manager as I can see by again, previous reviews, that generally goes nowhere. I am only hoping this review keeps people away, and I wish I had looked more closely at reviews myself before bringing my dog here. - My partner and I used to live in an apartment complex near here, and as we have an active dog we decided to start bringing her here for daycare so she could expel some energy. There were only minor problems at first; she would occasionally come back with scratches from playing rough but dogs will be dogs and I won't hold that against them. The problems started when she would come home and start throwing up large pieces of toys. We know she has a tendency to rip up toys, but we assumed she would be being watched as she played (as that's what we were paying for) and thus someone would notice if she started ingesting one. That was not the case. She would come back nearly every time and throw up toys. We are extremely lucky we never had to take her to a vet to have anything extracted. We were stupid enough to end up boarding her here as well once. When we came to pick her up not only did she have scratches, but what also appeared to be a red rash on her back legs, bottom, and stomach. On top of that she was covered in hives. When questioned if they had fed her anything we had not given them all we received was headshakes and shrugs. We had not even been notified she had even had any of these conditions while we were away so who knows how long she was like that for. Recently my partner called to get a refund for the final few daycare appointments he had paid ahead for; and was told we needed to provide proof we had moved to get any of the money back. Which is laughingly absurd. Yes, they may be cheaper than other places in the area but I promise you it is worth every penny to go somewhere else if you care about someone watching over your dog properly. read more

If there is one review that keeps you from ever coming near this place, I hope it's mine. I had to schedule a temperament test so my dog could stay for daycare in the future. For the temperament test, they told me (in writing) that he would be under "constant supervision." This is also something they have posted around their store for regular daycare as well. Not even an hour into his test, he escaped. The best part is, I found out by Dekalb Animal Services contacting me that he had been found and brought to them. I called The Pet Set to ask if he was still there and I got this response, "Oh yeah, he escaped, we were going to call you." Dekalb Animal Services is 30 minutes from The Pet Set. There was time for him to escape, be found, be driven 30 minutes away, scanned, and then I was contacted all before The Pet Set even thought to contact me. I called asking if his leash/collar were still at The Pet Set so I could pick them up and I was told the owner would like speak to me. He proceeded to waste ten minutes telling me how it was a homeless person's fault for messing with his fence and went on and on about how they constantly supervise and he's glad more dogs didn't get out. Essentially, the entire conversation was about how this effected him, and not me. In the end, I wasn't even offered anything for this. Just a simple, "Sorry." Please never trust these people with your dog. And if your dog was here for daycare on 4/12/2021, just know that they didn't tell you your dog almost escaped. read more

sadly this place has disappointed me twice now. the groomers herself tries hard when she does cut him, but I'm not sure the dog actually got bathed. the first time- they literally forgot about my dog, I called to check in to see when I should pick him up and they asked several times who my dog was.. for 6 hours. they didn't even realize they had a dog that was supposed to get a hair cut. and then I tried again and they forgot about him again. This location is consistently disorganized and rarely delivers as promised. My pets are never ready at the pickup time stated during drop off for grooming. At my last three visits the employees offered different excuses. The only consistency in their excuses was a lack of apathy. My pets are small and it is uncomfortable for them to remain kenneled for up to eight hours, which has apparently become the Pet Set standard. I discovered this place because when I adopted Addy, the organization I got her from told me they used The Pet Set, and I have been going ever since (4 years). Daryl is fantastic, he has really good energy and a calming vibe that my semi-neurotic dog responds to really well. He also gives a great haircut! Addy has long-ish border-collie style hair with "feathers" that grow off the backs of her legs and lots of long tangly hair on her tail. He gives a great short cut in the summer and a great trim/neaten up in the winter. Once or twice, I have not been able to get Daryl and the other groomers have also been good, but I just know she likes him so I always opt for Daryl. They have remained open throughout Covid and treat my girl right. Please remember to tip your groomers! read more

I called a day ahead to see if they could get my dog in for a first-time appointment. The person I talked to said I could either fill out a form online or show up before noon that day to get him checked in. Today rolls around, and I come into the storefront with a giant sign that says "WALK-INS WELCOME". The only person working, a young man, is talking on the phone to someone and already kind of putting on an attitude and making faces. I try to get my dog checked in, by saying, "Hi there, I called ahead yesterday for a first-time appointment for a wash and a nail trim." He says, "Well, we could only do a wash today -- no haircuts..." Dude, I've got a Jack Russell Terrier. His hair is extremely short, and if you were listening, that wasn't on the list of things I was asking for. "Okay, that's fine. He doesn't need one," I say. "Do you have his vaccination records?" "I would have if anyone I talked to yesterday mentioned me needing them. I can give you his vet's phone number and you can arrange getting them faxed over if you really need them today." "Well we at least need proof of a rabies vaccination." "How about the tag around his neck?" Silence. At this point, I realize this guy is just trying not to have any more work today. This isn't the kind of person I expect to work at a groomer. He hasn't looked at my dog once, and he's got me feeling like dropping him off there is going to be less of a spa day for a dog and more like dropping off your dry cleaning. And that's the story of how I went through the non-trivial undertaking of getting my dog in a car and taking him to a strip mall just to turn right back around again. If I had more money, I would spoil my pups rotten at The Pet Set. They have the cutest selection of homemade dog treats, and they even helped me arrange to order them personalized (makes a great gift for a dog owner). They are stocked with toys, treats, pet beds, collars, and little outfits that will definitely make you go, "Awwww....". I wanted to get a rhinestone "Americanine Idol" shirt for my dog to wear to my Idol finale party last year, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend over $30 on it. More importantly, their grooming and bathing services are worth the cost. I've gotten my dog bathed and cut at The Pet Set at least 5 or 6 times, and they seem to treat my typically scared, needy dog well. My groomer, the guy with the mustache (I suck with names), does the job particularly well and is super nice to boot. They will listen to specific grooming requests you have, and they'll also recommend stuff, too. I'd trust them to do what they think looks best - last time I picked up my pooch from his bath and cut, I could not help but admire his breathtaking handsomeness the entire ride home. A bath, shave/cut, and toenail clipping costs me $49. They take appointments, but they also easily accommodate walk-ins as long as it's before 11 a.m. They also offer doggie day care that seems to be really popular, and I like that you can see the dogs from windows inside the store - they look they're having a good time. The owner of The Pet Set, Bob, is quite possibly one of the coolest guys ever, and he runs a great business. Javier, the employee I see every time I go, deserves a shout out for his professionalism and hard work. This place has a very loyal following and is quite well known in Decatur, and it's very obvious they've got a good thing going on. read more

I love the pet set. They did a great job on my mangy rescue maltese. Barbie came out truly looking like a Diva! I love the groomer Kelly! She is great with small dogs. I got the full body cut, bath, and extra $15 treatment and you could tell that they performed all of the services. The only thing that I didn't like was that they didn't file her nails short enough for me. I'm thinking of trying the boarding services soon. The daycare pups always look happy. read more

Daryl is their best groomer. Their prices are the best I've seen and Daryl always makes my dog look like a show dog! Very knowledgeable. This place gave my dog fleas ... PLEASE READ... I'm only leaving one star so I can leave this review. I had been bringing my dogs here for over 2 years. Not sure what happened to management but it's absolutely horrible now . The last time I brought my dogs here it was for both grooming and daycare. First they misquoted me and told me a higher price upon calling me to tell me my dogs were ready. Secondly when I picked my dogs up... my small shitzu terrier was scratching himself a lot. I assumed that maybe his skin was just agitated from the clippers. As weeks went on he started scratching himself more and more. My shitzu is a rescue dog, when I found him he had no hair and a slight skin condition so I thought maybe his skin condition/agitation was coming back...the only other dog my shitzu is around is my other dog (my husky) ... so fleas did not even cross my mind since he did not come in contact with any other dogs since The Pet Set, nor did my husky . Upon checking his fur today ... he has FLEAS... I immediately called The pet set , they kept me on hold for 5 minutes and then put me through to an extremely unapologetic woman who acted nonchalant about the whole situation. Her response was 'we can't guarantee that the dogs here don't have fleas'. She also tried to promote some flea prevention stuff they sell there (are you kidding me )... So I stated to her 'I spend $200 at your establishment and my dog comes back with fleas and your ok with this ? ' and her response was the same.... no resolution, no offer of reimbursement since I now have to deal with this and also pray my husky doesn't have them either now ... I'm honestly disgusted by the lack of remorse she had towards my animal's health. I've spent at least a couple grand in this place over the years, maybe more , never again after today . UPDATE AFTER OWNER RESPONSE - MY HUSKY NOW HAS FLEAS AS WELL- the owners response still isn't what I expected- the first time I brought my dogs here I was told this shop checks for these things and does not have dogs with fleas- my dogs caught this in THIS FACILITIES CARE and now in between being a single mom and moving ... When I go on vacation.. my Dogs go on vacation. I had a wedding in Newport Beach and was looking for a clean, safe and dog friendly extended stay for my babies. This place has an amazing set up. They are extremely attentive to the dogs. They were able to make sure my dogs custom diet was supported? The rates were great.. it's a one stop shop. The staff are extremely nice and treat my dogs as if it were their dogs. And they made sure my dog had great social time and was concerned with walking their needs. The icing on the cake for me was that I was able to go to the website and watch my dogs daily if I chose to. The daycare at pet set is definitely below average. The dogs sit in too small crates for 3+ hours, even tho the website says they are only in the crates for 2 hours. I've taken my dog here three times and probably won't take him again - he also seems very hesitant to go to daycare when I drop him off. My dog used to go to Spot for Dogs twice a week and he was sooooooo excited (they don't crate your dogs at spot for dogs). Overall, I wouldn't recommend this company for daycare. read more

We had a great experience with our dog's first grooming at Petset. Jennifer did an excellent job. Since we could not get our dog groomed since March due to COVID-19, Jennifer needed to trim him very tightly. Even with a tight trim, the cut looks great. My Shih Tzu has loved going to this place for years. Always has been a positive experience. My parents and I check in on him in the webcams and daycare always to be going well. We love that the daycare attendants have years of experience with dogs and are not teenagers. It takes a particular skill set to keep groups of dogs in check and these guys have it. I take my dog here once a week to let him get some energy out. I am overall satisfied with the business- they've got a large play area for the pups and they separate the big dogs from the little dogs. Also, there's a little shop where you can buy homemade dog treats! I will say that they could definitely improve the Webcam quality. One of my favorite things about taking my dog to daycare is being able to watch him from time to time and their camera quality is pretty crappy and delayed. I called in advance for grooming appointment in Briarcliff site for my 6-pounder toy poodle, which they scheduled for today, Sun 10/6 at 9:00am. I was there infront of the store 8:45am but the store was still closed. I understand that they open at 9:00 am on Sundays, but it was 9:07 when the lady named Beth opened the door. This is the not the first time my dog is being groomed in that store but Beth was still asking for my dog's different vaccinations. The only document I brought was my dog's latest rabies shot which was new. I told Beth (she said she is the Manager), the only instruction is to bring my dog's latest rabies vac record so they can update it or email it. So I did emailed it as soon as I rvcd my confirmation message for the Sunday appointment, but Beth said they don't have it and she was still asking for more documents for other vaccinations that my dog had. I told her I already showed all documents since her first visit in their store as mandatory needed before 1st visit! She did not accept my dog for grooming and we went home. After I got home, I rcvd a text message from Beth saying "sorry" that due to the short staffing they did not see the email I sent yesterday. Just want to say that next time before she say something negative, she has to check first, being her as the head of your store! I've been with Pet Set for years, my dog now is the 3rd dog I had brought to your store eversince. I chose your store because I knew Kelly (one of my favorite groomer) and she handled all my 3 dogs already since the 1st, when she's available. I was so hesitant to book to your store at first cause it's a little farther from where we live and the weather is a little cold for me, I just had my chemotherapy treatment and my body is not in good condition and this happened, hopefully this will not be the same next time. read more

After scheduling my dog for a grooming appointment two days prior to his appointment and dropping him off at 7 am. I received a call at 1pm that they had over booked their groomer by two dogs and they couldn't groom him today. I would need to reschedule for next Tuesday almost a week later.
