I really wanted to support a mom & pop shop, but unfortunately, I can't see myself coming back. I came in because of one bad tire, but I was told they legally couldn't repair it and was quoted for four new tires. I ended up going with two tires and a wheel alignment, but later learned it wasn't a computerized alignment (which is what's recommended for newer vehicles). On top of that, there's no warranty offered my mistake for not asking beforehand. The staff wasn't friendly, and overall the experience was bad If you're trying to compete with larger shops, customer service and standing out in a positive way is how you'll stay in business. Sadly, this wasn't it. They didn't wipe down the new tires or wipe off the grease left behind so I'll have that reminder until my next car wash. read more

Absolutely awesome experience! Had a flat tire at the absolute worst time. Tried calling a few places in town and they were closed (Saturday). Called Petaluma Tire Source, they were open and said to bring in my vehicle , no appointment necessary, and they would get to it as soon as possible. I was absolutely floored by the stellar service when we had an unexpected flat tire close to closing hours. The stressful surprise was complicated by a missing wheel lock and Volvo not helping one iota with problem solving other than advising we ask the Petaluma folks to "break off" the lug nut. We came unannounced just before they were open for business. Our low pressure light had come on as we were driving from West Sonoma County to SF. These folks took us first so that we could get back on the road. They diagnosed and fixed the problem - related to the rim seal and we were on our way. Plus we could keep our dog with us in the waiting area. The place is tucked back a bit from the road, so you need to look for the "Tires" sign. read more

I've had good and bad experiences here. I'm giving my rating based on a 5 star experience and a 1 star, thus equaling 3 stars. My disappointment is that the last time I went in they installed tires that were 15 months old, of which they all had creases in the sidewall. Diane said the creases are fine, but the tire age in my opinion is disappointing. Back story: I went to Tire Source to check up on my RVs tire which had perfect tread, but we're 8 years old and the vehicle only gets driven 2,500 miles a year. Diane read me the riot act on how important it is to replace after 6 years no matter the wear. To my surprise she installed tires that were nearly 1 1/2 years old. I'm totally angry. I had a warranty issue with some Hercules brand tires I had bought up in Susanville and they were able to validate the warranty and use that credit towards a new set of tires, from their shop. Dianne was who I dealt with. I know she went out of her way to help me. They are a family owned business. I would recommend them to anyone shopping around for a new set of tires. I wound up spending just under $2000 for tires after I got a flat tire on my Tesla. It was a couple of circumstances that led to my decision to purchase all four new tires. The service was fine while not the friendliest, but after I left my tire sensor screen showed all 4 tires with different pressure levels. One was a fare amount higher than the recommended pressure level. I figured maybe the sensors were just not accurate. I used my home gauges to check and sure enough they were all different. If I didn't have the Tesla readouts my tires would have worn out more quickly and my mileage would also have been affected. It showed a pretty fare indifference from the installer. read more

Awesome business! I had a tire emergency where I had driven over 100 miles with a screw in my tire and didn't know it. I went to my local mechanic thinking I just had low tire pressure and he said I needed to drive immediately to a tire place and he suggested them. I also had an important veterinarian appointment within the hour for a very sick cat and was in a panic. Of course, businesses can't always accommodate emergencies, but they were busy and she fit me in quickly and as best she could. It was just so awesome to experience the kindness and understanding. Moved to town recently and I decided to give this place a try as the reviews were so positive...the place checks out 5 stars! I've always used Costco for tires; however, I can't stand the absurdly long lines and hit or miss on appointment times. I used Petaluma tire service instead and found these unexpected perks: 1. Two hundred dollars less than Costco for similar tires. 2. Affordable alignment ($85) that Costco can't do. They do brakes, too. 3. Free tire rotations every 5K miles that matches Costco; however, there is no lines and it's local. 4. 50K warranty that exceeded Costcos 40K. The lady is super cool. I'm bringing them my three other cars for alignments, rotations, and tires. Maybe oil changes, too. read more

I got a flat somewhere near Helen Putnam Park a few weeks back and took it to these guys cause they were close. I'm a mom and drive an older Honda mom van (odyssey 2008). The woman who helped me seemed nice enough, but they didn't have tires to fit and offered me two used tires for $150. I usually buy all four new at one time and asked if they would put the spare on for me. She didn't offer to order me a new tire or tires, but came back to say that I didn't have a spare. I had my five year old with me who was missing a gymnastics class and it was lunch time so I asked her to put the used tires on and I paid her and left my number and asked her to locate a spare for me. (Turns out that my previous car didn't have a spare and I confused that). They didn't offer to or return either the flat or the other perfectly good but used tire that belonged to me and of course I was so flustered I didn't realize that til later. When I arrived home, my -2 year old daughter showed me exactly where my spare tire was located in the third row sidewall of the van. Shame on me, but also, really? The alignment tech was very friendly and did a great job meeting the specs I asked for. The car handles just as expected, and honestly, probably the best alignment in a while. The tech had a little hiccup with the aged components on my old car, which was not PTS's fault at all. Throughout the past 10 years, I have continued to return to Petaluma Tire Source because they are efficient, honest, and reliable. I recently found a screw in my tire and was looking to have the hole patched up. I had previously took it elsewhere because I no longer live in the Petaluma area and wanted to see if I could get the help I needed closer by. They told me that the screw was "too close to sidewall" and would need a whole new tire. I wasn't ready to jump and buy a new tire just yet and thought it would be best for a second opinion. I knew that if it was absolutely necessary to replace the tire, then a used tire would do just fine. Diane is quick, knowledgeable, and doesn't mess around. She immediately (as always) looked up my tire in her system and let me know she had a used one available. At tire source it's first come, first serve, so I hustled my way down to Petaluma and within a matter of minutes she had her technicians take a look at it and let me know that it indeed was patchable! I was out of there in less than 10 minutes! In the past 10 years, I've been to tire source about 4 times, and every single time it's the same experience; efficient and affordable. I don't know crap about cars which is most likely why my car ended up here. I've always been severely skeptical and intimidated of auto shops partly because I'm not too auto-literate and have surrendered to the stereotype that mechanics are out to try and rip the less-knowledgeable off. All of the fears, doubts and cynical thoughts vanished when I came here. I had previously come here to change a tire and was not aware until recently that they do all kinds of auto repair and maintenance. The tire service here is extremely affordable and fast! They have a waiting room, a pot of coffee and magazines to help alleviate waiting anxieties. Recently, I had my timing belt give out on me and damage some parts of the engine. I had it towed by AAA. When I told the tow truck guy that I wanted it towed to Petaluma Tire Source he replied, "Oh! You want it taken to Bill's!?" (I don't remember the actual name so I'm using a made up name.) I was impressed that the tow truck driver knew the auto shop by the owner's name. Great sign. The shop was able to take it in immediately and quickly quote the price for the fix-up. I was incredibly worried about what they quote because I've read articles of people pushing out $3-4,000 for fixing timing belt damage. I was originally quoted $2,000 for my car repair and was then told the price was $1,970 because some parts were cheaper than thought. This was very cheap for a notoriously expensive fix-up. Included was an oil change, replacement of other parts and a tune-up. They also allowed me to keep the car there for a few weeks while I came up with enough money to pay them. These guys are incredible and I highly recommend their services to those in Sonoma County. read more

I went here to get a pair of used tires. But I also needed a new spare tire and they said the spare tire needed a new rim. So They Gave me a pair of bad rims for the front of my car that were too small and they kept one of my old ones and put the other old one on my spare tire. I didn't realize until years later that the two front rims being too small is the reason my car always slams into the pavement when I go up or down a driveway. This may have caused years worth of damage to my car. Luckily it's an old car and not worth much but I still care about it and want it to be in good condition so I wish I'd never gone here. read more

I had a screw in my 1 month old tire. I first went to McLea's and was told if the screw is not in the middle of the tire they can't patch it. I needed a new tire and they can't just sell me 1 they only sell ties in pairs.
