Philly meat missing from our Philly Cheesesteak pepperoni mushroom flatbread
    Christina M.

We were looking forward to finally trying The Philly Special but was so disappointed with the food. My Chicken cheese philly was lacking in chicken and cheese but abundant in SALT. This was the most underwhelming $17 sandwich. My husband ordered the Philly cheesesteak flatbread with pepperoni and mushrooms - however what we received had ZERO philly cheesesteak - we only got a $24 flatbread! Overall we did not have a good experience. Perhaps it was just a bad night, but the portions we received certainly didn't match the photos of other reviews, the flavor was lacking, and our order was wrong.

Definitely a genuine Philly spot. $18 for just a Philly is kinda steep, but they are good. Imo the meat was lacking seasoning, so I had to go back and get some salt. Other than that...solid Cheesesteak

i'm a sucker for philly cheesesteaks and this spot is solid. Got the first thing on the menu can't go wrong with the classic with onions peppers and cheese wizz. Good service and the food came out fresh and ready. Cool arcade section with a nice tv playing trivia. Fries were piping hot and tasted good with whatever fell off sandwich. Would definitely come again with friends. It ain't easy being cheesy

Hands down best Philly I've had! So fresh and delicious! Hubs found this place and we've now been here twice. Easy to find and plenty of parking - they share parking with the surrounding businesses in the plaza. They have indoor and outdoor seating and it's a walk up and order type of place. They do, however bring your food to your table. TV's going with music videos have been on during my 2 visits here - which is pretty awesome because I can't tell ya when I last watched a music video, especially ones from my childhood. OK, back to the food --- both hubs and I ordered the Philly Special which is the standard cheesesteak sandwich. Their standard version comes with Cheese Whiz which I opt for replacing it with Provolone cheese instead. You can also add mushrooms and peppers to yours if you like or remove the standard onions that comes with it. The hoagies that these come on are so freaking soft and fresh! And the taste of the cheesesteak sandwich is AWESOME! They also have wings and other items on the menu, including cheesesteak fries which I haven't tried but they sound delicious. Highly recommend this place!! You won't be disappointed.

I've been looking for a good philly and cheese. This is definitely a top pick in my book. Set in a small strip plaza, easy to get in and out. Walking up, you see some limited outdoor seating. Walking in, it's definitely Phllly themed with all the sports and other memorabilia. So don't be offended if you're a non Philly native...lol. There are TVs running and music playing in the background so it sets a cool vibe. I got the namesake "The Philly Special", which is ribeye and onions with cheese. You can add mushrooms and green peppers and substitute the cheese with other cheeses if you want. Seasoned and grilled well, this Philly definitely delighted the tastebuds. We've been back a couple of times since and I have to say I probably won't get tired of it. Definitely will need to try out some of the other sandwiches and provide an updated review. Everyone looking for a good philly cheese should definitely hit this place up!

I've passed by The Philly Special numerous times and finally decided to give it a try yesterday. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly, which set the tone for a great experience. The menu is impressive, offering everything from Philly Steaks and Chicken Wings (boneless options too) to fries and Philly Egg Rolls. I decided to try the Philly Steak Egg Rolls, which came with three rolls and a side of sauce. Oh. My. Goodness. They were amazing! So amazing, in fact, that I went back again today just to order more. As someone who lived in Philadelphia (2nd and Girard) for a while, I can confidently say these are some of the best Philly Steak Egg Rolls I've ever had--totally on par with the quality you'd find in Philly. I'm already planning my next visit! I can't wait to explore more of the menu, and I'm especially looking forward to stopping by on a weekend to enjoy some food while catching a football game. The atmosphere, with its TVs and vibe, adds to the overall great customer experience. As someone new to the area, I'm thrilled to have found a gem like The Philly Special. Keep up the great work--you've gained a loyal customer!

    Philly Special and onion rings

Some things are definitely worth the wait and The Philly Special is one of them. First and foremost the service is spectacular and that is half the battle right there. This is a family operation so they are on point and showing you who they are as not only entrepreneurs but as people. Now the food, not from Philly but I've visited, son almost went to UPENN, went to the same high school as Daryl Dawkins so that's as close I get. So my opinions are my own. These cheesesteaks are on point and they do not skimp on the meat! The meat is not overcooked and I happen to like cheese whiz, but you can have other options if you wish. The rolls are fresh and incredibly soft which compliments the beef very well. I had a side of onion rings which were hot and not made from onion pieces. Unfortunately they were out of wings, but the owner Joy came over and explained the supply issue and promised me some extra wings when I come back. It is a business but it is a family atmosphere that really makes it special in my opinion. If you happen to be in the Land O Lakes area and looking for something different give the Williams family a visit it will be worth the trip.

I LOVE this place!! Beautiful black owned business that brings a at home feeling. The food is amazing and makes you feel at ease with every bite you take. The arcade games in the back of the establishment such as pac man, NFL blitz, & NBA jam give the restaurant its finishing touch on authenticity and awesomeness. If you have any Philly roots or connections and are looking for any Philly food I guarantee this is the best spot!!!

I've waited to try to try this restaurant since they were new to the area. 3 stars because the sandwich was ok, nothing set them apart from any other Philly I have tasted. Ordered the Philly Special with provolone(this substitute is an additional $1), which I don't understand because other philly places don't charge for different cheese. I don't like cheez wiz. The meat was like crumbled ground beef, which I didn't care for. I was expecting more whole pieces of ribeye. If this is a REAL Philly sandwich, I guess I'm not a fan. Will I be back since I'm right down the road? I don't think so based on what I ordered. But I wish the business much success.

We've been here a handful of times usually it takes me at least 3 visits if I'm feeling a place to give a review. Ironically and unknowingly we met the male counterpart to the owner of this amazing establishment. What was better our circumstances wasn't the greatest but we just started to have a genuine conversation at an airport waiting for our plane that was drastically delayed. He didn't even mention the restaurant until our conversation led to our area of location we both resided in. He had invited us to a party at his house even. Then the restaurant came up we knew where it was and had seen the signs of it coming soon but what are the odds. As soon as we made it back hubby tested it out first and validated his visit. He knows I'm particular and had to see it for myself. My first visit was good we were hoping to see the owners that night but didn't. But our selection was solid and good. Fell in love the first visit with the video games. Old school arcade games won me over. My second visit we manage to meet the owner. We had told her how we met her husband and not only did we come out to support we came to eat! I ordered my wings straight to the arcade and this time we dined in and I could not help but tune in to the TVs which displayed music videos and diversity of music genre so that was a plus. I'm from NY and not a red meat eater nor am I'm about anybodys Philly cheese steak, but hubby who's from TN could not stop talking about the Philly Cheese Steak. If he's not getting the sandwich he's definitely getting the wings or both! Both visit 1 and 2 for me was all about the wings. Our 3rd visit I decided to challenge my palate and try the Chicken Philly just as is but extra onions. I set our son up to play the games and tried to refrain from playing that night. We came in about an hour before closing. There was a group dining in and someone waiting for food to go. We had told our cashier our order was to stay and mentioned the time as we wanted to make sure we didn't impose on their close up time. I sat and waited, I had noticed the owner in the back but couldn't get her attention. It appeared she was training a new employee or working her butt off as she was focused. The cashier apologized for the delay in our order and offered us water ice. Honestly I did not think we were waiting long at all. I graciously accepted two flavors for 3 of us to share and these were a delightful treat. Although our cashier thought we were waiting for our order to go as she thought we were in a rush I told her no we were actually dining in. We probably waited another 10 minutes and our food was ready. My son and I felt the fries were a bit salty but hubby thought they were perfect. Nevertheless the fries are good! My sandwich did not disappoint but I will definitely build my own next time. We ate and watched many to go and call in orders come in and out. As well as an older couple come in wanting to dine in but realized they were so close to closing time they decided to take their food to go. The cashier offered them water ice as well as she knew their food order would take a bit. They had never had it either but I recommended the mango. I had the cherry and mango but the cherry was too sweet for me but delicious and of course our 5 year old loved it. The mango was refreshing and light. They went with it and thanked me for the recommendation. The place is not big but I highly recommended to dine in only because the food is fresh! Nice and hot when it comes to the table. I understand eating in the comfort of your home and the food will probably still be fresh and hot if you live within 10-15 minutes. This place is definitely in our rotation of our Friday order out nights.

I've been interested in this place long before coming as the owner posted on Facebook how they were thinking of opening a shop in Land O Lakes and were seeking input. I happened to comment that I hoped they would put in some good seating. So on our first visit I was pleased to see it was a nice little place, with plenty of seating and even some outside. They have a number of TVs on the wall playing music videos which was nice. Clearly a lot of thought went into the overall décor and not just tossing in cheap tables with a few chairs. The menu has a number of options for cheesesteaks, along with wings, cheesesteak egg rolls, fries and onion rings. No soda fountain, so soft drinks (Coke products) are in a bottle and I was surprised to see they also sell some bottled beer too. Hand spun milkshakes were also on the menu. For out first visit we kept it simple and ordered cheesesteaks, and fries with cheese and a side of white cheese sauce. We dinned in and enjoyed watching the music videos while waiting for our food. Our cheesesteaks arrive nice and hot and we were surprised to see how large they were and jammed packed with meat, oozing cheese and the right amount of onions. Everything was delicious, meat, cheese, onion and bread. The fries are the crinkly type, they were good and the cheese sauce was good, I'm just not a crinkly fry person. The wait staff were excellent! Friendly, clarifying the order, prompt delivery of food and continued to walk the dining area to ensure the place was clean. We will certainly be back and glad they are in town and opened for business. My thanks to the owner for putting in a decent dinning area and serving some great tasting food!! On my next visit I'm thinking of trying out the cheesesteak egg rolls, some wings and onion rings!

WTH? 2 of us ordered Waygu beef subs and 1 ordered a Bobbie turkey sub. We were sadly disappointed in what we got for the price. I had higher expectations for Waygu beef, and the prices are insane for a sub. There was not much meat (maybe 4 ounces???), and the provolone was paper thin cut. The Bobbie had stuffing that was dried out and too salty. My son had to remove it as it was inedible. The beef was really no different than Boar's head London broil. I tasted it separately from the sandwich and is just medium rare deli roast beef. I had only lettuce and tomato on my sub, as I am allergic to onion. It was very bland and parts of the beef were actually a bit chewy. I just do not see any perceived value for the prices they charge. At almost $19 a sub with tax and a 10% tip, I honestly felt grossly ripped off. It really just an $8 sandwich. We could have eaten at a chain sit-down restaurant for less money per serving. Although they were friendly and fast to prepare them, that seemed to be the only positive part of my purchase. Publix subs put them to shame. Would I return? It is a hard no. If you are charging over $16 for a smaller sub, it had better exceed expectations. I cannot see them staying in business too long with these prices. This was a failure for us. There are so many other options nearby for a better sub (that are bigger and cheaper), but this one was not a win.
