Don't be fooled by the long line. While the matcha is strong, all the flavored matchas lacked the flavor that was advertised. The mango sticky rice matcha was alright but I've had better. Banana cream had minimal banana flavor and no sweetness at all. Overall, it's better than watered down matcha but did not live up to the wait.

The Phin is one of the newest coffee shops in Houston and it's located right next to Molly Tea in Chinatown. The interior was so so nice with lots of tables, although it was pretty tight since it was very crowded. The line moved very quickly though. I got their signature Mắm coffee, Buôn Mê coffee and the Mango Sticky Rice matcha. The Mam coffee came with a cream top and fish sauce drizzle. It sounded weird at first but it actually tasted pretty good and enhanced the coffee flavor (tasted like salted caramel). The Buon Me coffee came with a coffee cream and cocoa powder, and it was so good, I like this one more than the mam coffee. The coffee was very strong and I loved that. The mango sticky rice matcha came with mango puree on the bottom, coconut foam on top, along with bits of sticky rice. This drink was soooo good. Mango pairs really well with matcha, and the coconut was so fragrant. The drinks were made pretty quickly despite being busy, but matcha took a bit longer. They also had bottles of condensed milk and sugar syrup on the counter so if you want your drink to be sweeter, you can always add it to your likings. I really love the counter space they had and I realized the water kettle stations were built into the counter space, that was so cool :)

I waited about 40 minutes during the soft opening of Le Phin, and while the coffee itself was pretty good, the rest of the experience was a bit underwhelming. The mango sticky rice matcha was the main disappointment. The matcha base tasted more like milk than a properly balanced, high-quality matcha, missing that deep, slightly grassy, umami flavor you expect. Instead of feeling cohesive, it came across more like separate components forced together rather than a well-integrated drink. The mango element was also disappointing. The syrup tasted artificial, almost like jelly sitting at the bottom of the cup, rather than fresh or naturally sweet mango. The "sticky rice" component was the most confusing part, with a texture that felt closer to mashed potatoes than chewy sticky rice. Combined with the temperature of the drink and the different textures, it ended up as a chunky, uneven matcha latte that did not resemble what the promotional photos suggested. The cafe itself is beautiful, and they are clearly working hard and cranking out drinks quickly, especially during a soft opening. However, for the price point and the actual quality of the drinks, I would personally go elsewhere for now. There is potential here, but based on this visit, it did not live up to expectations.

Mango sticky rice matcha, buôn mê, and phin coffee

I ordered three drinks from this place.... Let me tell you this is probably one of my all time favorite Vietnamese cafe that I've been to. I ordered the mango sticky rice matcha, the phin coffee, and the buôn mê cream. The mango sticky rice matcha was okay and a little on the sweeter side but I was pleasantly surprised about the size of the cup. The phin coffee was good and had the white cream on top. The star of the show was the buôn mê cream! You can taste the incredibly bold and richness of the coffee from the cream. That first sip was so good. It has that deep nutty and earthy flavor profile. It completely blew my mind. If you want to get here, opening time is probably the best. I went on a Sunday afternoon and the line was out the door.

The newest Vietnamese coffee shop in Houston Chinatown. The space is very minimalist & aesthetic with plenty of seating to enjoy their drinks. They specialize in phin drip coffee & matcha. I went during their grand opening weekend. It was pretty busy & crowded. Even with the long wait, the workers worked efficiently. All the drinks were organized with orders either in progress or ready on the screen. If you ordered a matcha drink you get to see the entire process from them measuring the matcha to them assembling the drink. I tried their mango sticky rice matcha, buon me cream, & ube cream. All of them were delicious. The mango sticky rice matcha flavor were subtle. The coffee drinks were strong especially the buon me cream since it had a coffee cream top. Out of all the drinks, the ube cream was my favorite. Overall, I had a great experience & enjoyed all the drinks.

Arrived at Phin when they opened so was first in line. The employee was kind enough to explain their menu as we browsed the drink options. I ordered the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha since I had The Phin Coffee before. The Mango Sticky Rice Matcha is ascetically pleasing to the eye but kind of had a lot going on to where it masked the matcha itself. I tasted the Mam Coffee and the fish sauce drizzle oddly worked well. A slight hint of salt on a sweetened foam over a strong iced coffee. There are plenty of seating if you choose to hang out but the line was to the door within 10 minutes of opening. Didn't want to overcrowd the shop so we didn't stay long. Despite having so many coffee shops nearby, The Phin's coffee is pretty good.

Came in a week after opening, the service was pretty quick. There was a pretty long line, but we got through within a few minutes so dont be scared to wait. I ordered thr fish sauce "mam" coffee. Never had it before and was skeptical, but was pleasantly surprised. It was Alil sweet and salty, but not too overwhelming on thr coffee. I think it was only on the foam. Overall the coffee was good, nothing worth noting. The aesthetic ambiance was very chic and stylish.

Went here on their first day of soft opening! There was a good 15 minute wait on all Matcha drinks, but the staff looked like they were going through it pretty efficiently. I very much like the aesthetic of this place and how modern everything is. I ended up getting the Matcha Einspanner, which I think is a matcha latte but with cream on top? It was honestly hard to decide as all of their drinks sounded very good, particularly the Ube Matcha latte. I would give my drink a solid 8/10 and I would definitely come back to try their other drinks. The staff were friendly and we didn't have any issues. I will say that I don't think they have a number calling system. So because it was loud at the time, it was kind of hard to hear our number be called by the staff.

Yasss another Vietnamese coffee spot ! The coffee was so strong ( which i love). I really enjoyed the egg and black sesame foam. They also have really good ceremonial matcha. I think they just recently open so the line can be quite long bur move pretty quickly. Theres a lot of sitting as well.

New coffee shop in Chinatown. Even without soft opening, the store is still very crowded. Store is well organized and decorated. You can see how much effort the owner put in decoration. Price range from $6.5 to $7.5 per one drink. I decided to try fish sauce coffee and mango sticky rice matcha because visually, they looked pretty. Fish sauce coffee, there is a hint of fish sauce that if you don't try to pay attention, you won't notice it. Otherwise, it's tasted like sea salt coffee but super sweet. The matcha one, nothing special. In my opinion, the sticky rice topping doesn't go well with matcha. I like mango in matcha though. The staff were friendly. I did not have to wait long for my order. However, I saw many of staff had artificial nails that one staff's nail actually poked the gloves. This could be improved. Overall, I might come back because besides some items were different, the rest of the menu is just like other coffee shop but with higher price.

Friendly staff, beautiful interior, yummy drinks! What more can you ask for? Clever that they use the fish sauce for the salted caramel coffee! Love their matcha einspanner!!! It's harder to find in Houston than you think! Their coffee is legit Vietnamese. My man's was wired lol they have WiFi so you can come during the week or weekend to hang out, work, or study. Plenty of seating to chill. Huge and clean restroom!

yummy!! good service, smooth matcha. i got the black sesame matcha (black sesame is my favorite) and it was delicious & rich. the mango sticky rice matcha was a bit on the sweeter side but super creamy!

For a crowded soft opening and an offering of 20% off, the service was relatively fast! Especially if you didn't order a hand crafted matcha drink lol. My banana latte was really good and I would definitely come back to try other drinks

Houston's Vietnamese coffee scene is incredibly strong, but not all cups are created equal. What I loved about this one was how rich, bold, and deeply coffee-forward it was without ever tasting burnt or bitter. The coffee had that intense Vietnamese coffee flavor you want while remaining smooth and balanced from start to finish. Paired with the pandan, it was a perfect combination. The pandan added subtle vanilla-like and floral notes along with just the right amount of sweetness. Best of all, it was not overly sweet, which is where a lot of specialty coffee drinks miss the mark for me. The flavors complemented each other beautifully without either one overpowering the other. That said, this place is chaotic. If you're in a rush, I probably would not recommend it. My coffee took about 20 minutes, and the operation felt busy and hectic. Honestly, though, it was worth the wait to try authentic, high-quality Vietnamese coffee in Houston. If pandan is not your thing, don't worry. They have a huge menu with plenty of other coffee and drink options to choose from. For coffee lovers, this is the kind of place worth seeking out. Houston continues to impress me with its Vietnamese food and coffee scene, and this spot is another reason why.

The inside is mostly white and going for that IG "it spot" vibe. Most people were ordering their drinks that come with a little slice of tiramisu, but we were there to try just the latter! The tiramisu varieties aren't all truly tiramisu (which traditionally has espresso and alcohol), but they're called tiramisu because there are cookies or ladyfingers layered with their mascarpone cream. I tried the Biscoff Tiramisu-- while they could work on their presentation (the filling looked messy and slapped on), the taste was quite nice! Sweet, creamy, and the mascarpone filling was light and not too sweet. I'm excited to try the other tiramisu varieties :D I like how the tiramisu comes in its own container instead of scooped into a takeout box because it's a lot less messy + prettier when eating it. Service was really friendly and there is self-serve water available too. Lots of tables for two but they were all taken during my visit. There's a little table outside in the shade if you're willing to sit in the heat. Overall, 4.5 stars for the tiramisu-- will be back to try some more! The ube cream coffee was by far my favorite, bold flavors and the coffee itself was very strong without it being bitter. The mango matcha was also solid, just wish the matcha was stronger but I do like that they added lots of mango bits. Fresh pineapple mango was fine but the pineapple syrup overpowered the flavor of the tea. My least favorite was the Jasmine cloud tea, it wasn't terrible but the tea wasn't strong, very subtle. The place was exceptionally clean for being so busy, and the workers consistently cleaned as they made the drinks, so you knew you could trust the sanitation here. Drink Design - I have to make a separate comment on how CUTE these drinks were. I loved the intentional sticker placement over the lips and the little carrying handle. You could tell they went the extra mile to make these drinks not just flavorful, but an experience in and of themselves. Even their receipt paper felt luxurious. That sounds ridiculous to point out, but the thought behind every aspect of this place is impeccable. High Mountain Pouchong Tea w. Lemon Juice & Mousse (Creamy Lemon Tart) - After all the sugar I had today, this lemony drink hit the spot with its perfect tartness. The cream had bits of lemon zest in it, adding to the aroma. I tried to adjust the sweetness when I ordered and was told it had a built-in sweetness, but if I found it too sweet, they would happily switch it out for another drink. I felt like I was dealing with Amazon's generous return policy--and luckily, the drink was perfect, so no return was needed! Creamy Mango Tart - Literally like the Lemon Tart, but mango. I loved this just as much and really enjoyed the refreshing flavors of BOTH tarts. Instantly a fan favorite. Dong Ding Oolong Tea w. Fresh Milk - Very mild and creamy, almost like a mellow latte. Even at half sugar, it was pretty sweet. I also noticed a couple of things that could've made the drink better: some lemon seeds were left in, and the smaller bits of mango weren't fully ripe, which made the texture a bit off. That said, the staff's kindness and the wide variety of drinks make me want to come back and try other options! I'm especially interested in their Saigon street food menu and those adorable kitty paw-shaped mochi waffles.
