Checked out this place with my wife while in Clovis for lunch, it's in a small market of multiple different foods shops and a convenient store with some first come first serve tables in the middle. I was craving dutch crunch so I yelped and doubt The Pickled Deli. The service was efficient and friendly. The space was spotless. I ordered a turkey, avocado, sprouts and cream cheese. I substituted the cream cheese for swiss cheese and asked them to add mayo. My order was to go. The Dutch crunch bread was a little soft and there was barely any crunch. However, the flavor of the bread was good overall. There were two itty-bitty slices of avocado, which was barely recognizable. There just wasn't quite enough sprouts to achieve the crunch I was looking for, but again, the flavor combination met the craving of my palate. Overall, it was decent. I ordered a grilled chicken spinach wrap, which is a first for me. (Huge sandwich guy, not sure what I was even thinking.) I was given a lettuce wrap, which until today's mistake would have been a NEVER for me. And that would have been better because this was an absolute mess, impossible to eat, soggy and fell apart immediately. Several leaves of the romaine were wilted/discolored. This is what I get for deviating from the sandwich script. The chicken was pretty good, by the way - but that's it and I didn't get nearly enough for the price tag. I will not likely return. Just saw response to my review. It's pretty much the same response given to all other negative reviews, which is to deny/dispute everything. This does not exactly inspire confidence in terms of issues being addressed and improved. I know what I ordered and I know the employee did not suggest anything to me at all. I also know the lettuce was wilted and discolored, because I threw out several pieces of it. And I know there was not a lot of chicken in the lettuce wrap (the one I did not actually order), because as the wrap fell apart and I ate it with my hands I was able to see that there was barely any chicken. read more

Came in today on a whim to get lunch to go. I ordered a small lettuce wrap turkey and salami with "the works" plus chips and a small drink. Sandwich was $8.95, chips + drink combo was an additional $3.75-to me this seems expensive. Unfortunately they had Pepsi products BUT they did have Diet Dr. Pepper! Where has this sandwich place been all my life?!! As someone who loves a good turkey sandwich I was expecting good, but this was great. I was immediately met with a friendly face. The owner was very nice and patient while he took my order. They give a 50 cent discount if you pay with cash and offered me a free water cup while I waited the service was quick. Ordered a hot pastrami sandwich with everything and the beer batter fries, through Doordash. The beer batter fries were quite good and the ranch was the best I've ever had. The sandwich arrived soggy: kind of to be expected through Doordash. I wish the menu had the option of removing condiments and adding other condiments. I would have swapped out the 1000 island dressing for mustard, if the option had been available. The pastrami had a pronounced smoky flavor, which I liked. But the smoky flavor overpowered the sweet/spicy flavor that I expect from pastrami. Overall, a good experience. It's possible that ordering in person it's possible to make substitutions that are not possible through Doordash. Oh, it would be good if they offered the option of ordering extra ranch. (The ranch was really very good.). Also, maybe add the possibility of ordering "the works" on the side for to go orders, so the sandwich does not arrive soggy. read more

I'll start by saying I really enjoyed my food and will definitely be returning. The interior is plain, and there weren't many decorations up yet. I was speaking with the owner and he basically said that he just started hanging things on the walls because he just opened. There's a few tables and chairs in the inside, but really not much seating. A few booths for a party of four and some movable tables. If they get busy, I can see there not being very much space to sit and eat. So I would consider this more of a grab-and-go place. Pretty typical for what I've seen with the deli delicious, or other sandwich shops. The sandwich was solid. The bread was soft and fresh. There's a slight crunch on the outside, but I think that was because I got the Dutch crunch bread. Everything tasted fresh. I waited for about 5 to 7 minutes for my sandwich, which is in bad. They already seem to have a ton of to go orders on the counter I asked for the pickle soup, but they were out. So instead I got the fried pickles. And I'm so happy that I got them. The pickles had a nice dill flavor, were bitesize chips, and were battered with a light crispy slightly spicy batter. I typically get french fries whenever I get a sandwich, but I think at this place, I'll continue to buy the fried pickles because enjoyed them that much. All in all, the ingredients in the sandwich were fresh, the bread was fresh, And the fried pickles were tasty. I will totally go back. read more

The staff are very friendly and attentive (my wife is a picky eater). Plenty of seating, but no tv's (thank goodness). Definitely a "come back" place for the wife and I. First of all, I don't like pickles. Second of all, I really like this place. I was greeted by the owner, who knows his regulars by name and runs his business proudly. The turkey avocado sandwich I had is really good. I'll have to come back on a future Fresno visit and try a hot sandwich and fries. The staff is very friendly and helpful to first time visitors. I want to love this local deli - their menu looks delicious and my Son's Italian sub was good. I ordered a BLT. Somehow it only had bacon on it. No lettuce, no tomato. Just bacon. It was good bacon. But it wasn't what I ordered. We did use Door dash to place our order - so maybe there's a glitch in the system. Next time I'll walk in to place my order. Because that was just weird. read more

A really great, and locally owned, sandwich shop! I've been here 3-4 times and never had a bad item! The owner is normally there, and seems like a really cool, down to earth guy. His staff are super friendly. Being from the east coast, I do get some "corner deli" vibes to this shop, so it reminds me of home. All the ingredients are top notch! A lot of customization options as far as condiments and vegetable options for your sandwich. What I appreciate most is the variety of sides you can order. Beer Battered fries are my fave, but onion rings and sweet potato fries were really good as well. Pricing is reasonable, especially for a locally owned shop. Can usually get a 6" sandwich and half-order of a side for under $15. The half-order sides are usually more than enough for 1 person, so I assume the full order is enough to feed 2-3. My only complaint, if I had any, is that sometimes the amount of meat on the sandwich isn't enough for the bread they use. But you can order double meat for an extra charge. If you're ever in north Fresno or in the Riverpark area, definitely support local and support a vet by stopping here read more

I needed to feed a small group of staff members today (sixteen people) for a meeting. This was my first time using the Pickled Deli. They did not disappoint! Literally, before the first bite/taste, everyone was impressed with how everything looked! Of course, once we all started eating, it was an orchestra of, "Mmmm's, Oh's," and sighs of satisfaction. You know the food is good when no one in the room is trying to have a conversation - they are too busy keeping their mouths full! Everything... the bread, the vegetables, the proteins... even the condiments all tasted fresh and amazing! Everyone wanted to know, "WHERE did we order from!?" Needless to say, The Pickled Deli will be our GO-TO for sandwiches (and more) from now on. I could easily end this review with the above description of The Pickled Deli's "food." But, I would be leaving out a very important piece. I have posted pictures of the moldy bread my partner mentioned in her review. I take my health and integrity very seriously. The bread we received on our visit Wednesday was moldy. I literally had to spit my food out once I noticed it but I'll spare everyone the details. Take accountability for your business' mistake. I was quite hungry so I wouldn't one lie about something I had every intention on eating and two share my experience if it was false. The bread did not taste fresh and I mentioned that to her and noticed mold after that. I love sandwiches, etc. and have never experienced this. I wish this wasn't the case but it was. Yes, I might have given the business another chance but telling my partner we must be mistaken and the owners tone in private message is ridiculous especially something that can be reported. P.S. Bread molds, it happens..but don't call us liars and that we do not support local businesses. We love them actually! Completely shocked that not even a simple apology was offered but a debate on how this is impossible. Edit: As seen in the pictures, one half has a webbed green color (mold) and the other is black way larger than a speck (black mold is worse). Take care ! read more

Husband tried the turkey, sprouts, avocado and cream cheese sandwich on sourdough which was good. The curly fries was good but a little salty for me; dipping in ranch made it seem less salty. The hot pastrami and provolone cheese with sauerkraut, and thousand island sandwich on Dutch crunch was AMAZING. I was debating between that sandwich and the tri tip and glad I went with the pastrami (husband loved it too and wishes he got that one instead which worked fantastic with the sauerkraut). read more
