Lovely gem of a place, right on the water. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Sitting outside on the deck, you have a view of the bay and the marina, making a lovely "up north" experience. It isn't cheap, but the food is lovely. Seafood was prepared with care and served beautifully - cooked properly for great texture and flavor. Caprese was a more modern interpretation that protected the spirit of that simple but lovey dish, and Mediterranean pasta was a perfect balance of savory and tangy, easily customized with the protein of choice. The kids menu had the usual choices of protein but an expanded list of sides that added to their overall experience of "selecting" their food. While families might prefer the outside, date night would be well served with the chic and modern ambience inside. If you find yourself in Harbor Springs, or even in nearby Petoskey, do yourself a favor and give this place a try. read more

Great place found on Yelp. Unique decor and lighting with big windows overlooking the water. Service was friendly and not overbearing, we got everything we needed. The manager stopped by as well which is always nice. We got calamari for an appetizer Delicious and tender. The sauce was a nice compliment to it, not a fan of seaweed salad so I just pushed that aside but gave nice color to the plate. I got the scallops on the menu and my husband got the perch sandwich with fries. Both were good, I feel like the scallops could have used a sauce perhaps lemon Beurre blanc just to kick up the flavor but they were cooked perfect. Kermit Lynch cotes du Rhône is a great wine if you want to try a new red. Great place for date night. Next time we will try dessert. Thanks for having us. read more

The location and building are beautiful. The décor is top-notch and we were happy with the menu. There was a seasonal menu as well. We had an early dinner reservation (5:00pm) and it was not crowded. Despite that, the timing was off; the appetizer arrived before the drinks did and the food before the appetizer was finished. Some diners plates were removed while others were still eating and we were asked about dessert while others were still eating their main course. Our party ordered 2 of the specials, the Prime Rib Stroganoff ($25) and the Prime Rib ($32). The pieces of prime rib in the stroganoff were inconsistent and tough, they seemed like scraps! The dish was bland. The person who ordered the burger ($14.75) said that was bland as well but the sweet potato fries were good. The Seared Scallops ($36.75) were tasty. The desserts (chocolate torte, apple pie and pretzel brownie sundaes) were good but nothing special. LOVE the remodel! Been here before? Yeah, well have you seen the new, nautical-funky interior? This place has been totally redone and if anything, stop by to look at its design. There's a big, nautical steering wheel that's underlit with twinkle lights, some super cool hanging lights mixed in with hanging ropes, and a MASSIVE, round booth that fits about 20 people and acts as a little boat in the middle of the space. We always came here because the great water view and therefore always eat outside (the new interior will provide a reason to dine here during the winter though!). The tables are right up against the boat docks and therefore there's some great boat/people watching. Everything on the menu always sounds good and so I usually end up ordering a few things. I'd recommend: shrimp roll, chicken club, and clam chowder. Delicious! read more

If you're looking for dinner with a beautiful view, this is the spot to be. The view of the bay is stunning and the perfect backdrop for a nice meal. We considered this an option for our rehersal dinner but it's not quite as intimate and quite as we hope for that special event. We had a very nice dinner here on a busy Saturday evening. We had a reservation which I'd highly recommend on the weekend because it was very busy. Ask to sit by the windows! I had the oysters rockafeller which were baked perfectly. The rest of the gang had steaks and one had fish. Everyone loved their meals and the wine selection was great. First timer's here when visiting the area and overall good experience. The duck was insanely good however - a dish that "more popular" on their menu - the 'white fish and walleye duo' was disappoint. The size of the white fish was almost abnormally small. However my boyfriend said the walleye was great and if we went back he'd just get the walleye dish itself. The inside decor is quite fun. There were 10 of us at the Captains Table in the round. Sherry provided excellent service and we started with the crispy Calamari and Morel bisque, both excellent. The food came out quickly with no lag time yet paced well. We mostly all had fish entrees and they were all very good. Portions fine. They make excellent burgers and fries. Caesar salad comes with white anchovies, which make the salad. While you are enjoying dinner you cannot beat the view of Lake Michigan and the Marina. The scenery is great. It's right off the water and there is parking nearby. I'm not sure if the parking lot for the hotel is the same for the restaurant though. The meatz pizza was great I was told by friends who had it. I got the p-town fish stack, coleslaw and sweet potato fries. All were 10/10 in my most honest opinions the fish was very well cooked not too soft not too moist not too soft. I was breaded just right! The sweet potato fries were cooked just right and the coleslaw was amazing. The flavor profile of the coleslaw was awesome, it was not too moist not soft or soaked in juice. It was also not too sweet and the right amount of crunch. Get the coleslaw! The full menu is attached as well for anyone visiting frequently. We have been coming to Staffords for years now and this time I couldn't have been so impressed! A few years back we went and it wasn't my favorite I felt like there weren't too many options. Now there are so many options and many specials on top of it! I got the oysters Rockefeller and the surf and turf special! My parents got escargot, clam chowder, raw oysters, planked white fish and the walleye special! The food was delicious and cooked perfectly! My dad said the planked white fish was a tad dry but nothing to really complain about! We had a large group and sat at the captains table which was so much fun! The dining room has several seating sections, all very cool and different. Our server was attentive and friendly. Nice wine and beer menu. The menu has lots of good selections and everything we ate was delicious. The have a nice selection of fresh oysters and they serve them the right way: very chilled, on ice, with mignonette and other accompaniments. The morel mushroom soup is outstanding. The seared scallops were superb: juicy and flavorful. The Manhattan filet and garlic shrimp was a great dish: both meats were tasty and juicy. The pretzel brownie sundae was different and delicious. Update: the manager asking me to change my review isn't "trying to resolve the issue." I left a detailed and honest review of my experience and it speaks to not just an isolated issue but a bigger issue of management. Fix your food quality and service and then you will probably see your reviews get better. As for me, I will not return since the managers response on here is exactly the type of service they give. View is outstanding. Food just okay. Service is absolutely awful. We are very familiar with the up north way of life and the slower pace, this is just pure laziness. First we started with drinks on the patio while we waited for our table. Our waitress was awful. I asked how a wine was and she responded with "I don't drink Prosecco" okay no problem. Maybe offer to ask the bartender? Oh well, move along right? No! We ordered our first round, she never checked on us after and never brought the waters we requested. We went up to the bar to get those. She simply brought our bill with no comment. We tried to cash out when our table was ready, that also did not go well. My husband had to wait 10mins for her to bring the credit card. Okay-on to dinner. We can't possibly have 2 bad servers right? Wrong! For a place that charges $40 for a 6 oz filet, you would expect the sever to be able to tell you about the food. We asked how the lobster roll was, "good." I then asked if she'd help me choose between dishes. Zero assistance nor could she give further explanation to the dishes. Okay, I can forgive that. The part I can't get around is getting zero service between ordering and food delivery. She never checked on us and never refilled our drinks. We then waited 25 mins for the check. I was super excited to eat here but was disappointed. My family and I were told that the whole dining room was reserved for a party, and we would have to sit in the lounge if we wanted to stay. Our waitress was horrible and not friendly at all. We were pretty easy on her because she seemed busy, but she still managed to be less than average. The food looked good but lacked flavor. I got the Market Catch which included a lovely pecan crusted fish with some cranberry sauce, asparagus, fingerling potatoes, and tomatoes. Visited Harbor Springs past week and everything was great, but had to give a special shout-out to this great restaurant. We decided to go there our first night in town and had a very nice casual meal by the water. Oysters were big and delicious and both entrees were very good. We had a nice young man that was attentive and friendly. A few days later was our anniversary and we decided to go back, which turned out to be a great choice. There was a bit of a wait for a table but we sat at the outside bar and had the best time thanks to some amazing servers and great food. I'm upset that I can't remember names, but there was one very bubbly young woman who was our server and she was GREAT! Attentive, nice and fun! Her friend was behind the bar and was also great. The food was even better our second visit (oysters, crab cakes, scallops, etc.) and we had such a great time with the staff. We had an amazing lunch at the Pier. The restaurant itself is decorated beautifully and is fairly large. Joe was our server and he was attentive and helpful! A couple of dear friends were in town and wanted to go someplace for lunch that had a view of the water and a great food, so we went to The Pier. We scored a great table with a view of the water and our server was very pleasant. They both wanted Great Lakes fish and had the walleye. I had the lobster roll and they were extremely jealous because it was full of big pieces of lobster. But their dinners were also very good and everyone was extremely happy with the meal. The Pier is a Harbor tradition. Jody, Carol and crew are friendly and helpful. The restaurant is always clean & tidy. During the summer our favorite spot is waterside at Dudleys deck, fun and great food. The dining room is beautifully re done and looks terrific. Food is terrific from their burger to whitefish or prime rib always excellent. Cherry berry Bibb is a favorite salad. Wine menu is excellent and the Staffords wines are solidly dependable.
