We visited Brandy's Harbortown with some friends on a recent Saturday afternoon and had a wonderful experience. As others have said, there are different "stations" where you can order, so I first went to the burger place and ordered for my kids and then I headed over to the Mediterranean place and ordered for myself. At the same time, my husband ordered fish tacos at yet another "station" and then we ordered drinks at the main bar. It sounds like a lot but it worked! We all got our food, found seating (kids indoors and adults outdoors) and enjoyed the experience. The bar offers refills on arnold palmers which was a win for us and service was friendly. The seating indoors is comfortable and the outdoors with a marina view is pretty fabulous. If you are looking for a fast-casual experience with something for everyone, this is your place. The view here is OUTSTANDING!! I wish I could give a better review on the food. Given that the restaurant is in such an upscale area, I would have thought that we would have had at least plates and silverware. Instead, we had our meals served using paper and plastic. This place is a fast-casual, and I had decent hopes when I saw that we could get salads or grain bowls. I ordered a southwestern bowl on grains. The "grain" in my bowl was rice. Very cool concept! There different mini restaurants and choices of food. One was a salad and grain option. Another was more sandwiches and burgers. Lastly, there was a seafood option. I ordered the fish tacos. I was with 9 other people so the variety of options worked perfect for us! The food came out quickly and the staff were nice. Well we finally arrived here in Bay Harbor located along the Little Traverse Bay of Lake Michigan for our family vacation. Bay Harbor is an upmarket district known for sweeping lake views. Bay Harbor Lake Marina has deep-water access for mega yachts. There are upscale boutiques and fine dining eateries at the Village at Bay Harbor complex. This was our first time here for dinner. We visited here twice with my family of seven including two pre-school children and one young elementary school child. I will summarize both of our visits for dinner. Both times we were able to secure an open table for the seven of us. Live music was here both days. The first day was a solo guitarist. The second day was a live multi-person band. This restaurant is unusually self service. You place your food order at the appropriate order window at which time you pay for your food. When your food is ready you have to pick up your food from the pick up window. There is no table service here. Since there is no table service I went to the bar for our cocktails and drinks for the children. On my first visit I opted for an open credit card tab. I enjoyed my rum runner with bacardi, goslings, banana liqueur, blackberry, pineapple juice for $13. All cabana cocktails were $13. I paid separately at the bar after closing my open credit card tab, which cost $79.45 on our first visit. During our first visit we shared and enjoyed the fried pickles for $11 and the crispy calamari for $14.50. On my first and second visits I enjoyed my lobster rolls with poached lobster, mayo, lemon, dill and butter lettuce with house made potato chips for $32 each. Both times I ate the lobster and house made chips, but not the rolls. Both of my lobster rolls were one of the best lobster rolls, which I have enjoyed recently. Our first visit cost $159 for all of our food including gratuity and 3% credit card surcharge, but excluding all of our drinks. Our second visit only cost $144, because this time we did not order any appetizers. After we ate our food we moved from our table to the pit in front of the stage to listen to the music. This is very unusual casual dining with very nice live music. We enjoyed ourselves so much the first time that we returned here a second time for dinner with our family. Both visits were very good. After both of our visits we walked around the marina on Lake Michigan. read more

Just opened this summer! Located in the village at bay harbor, Brandy's Harbortown was everything I was looking for - variety of food (4 different "places" with different menus), drinks (2 bars - 1 inside and 1 outside) with water view! I ordered the signature salad (butter lettuce, avocado, red onion, cilantro, cherry tomato, garlic vinaigrette) with add on shrimp at the Heirloom window before I saw the Fresh Catch window. But per my usual, I ordered 2 entrees for myself then! So, I also ordered the Ceviche (fresh shrimp, calamari, lime, jalapeno, cilantro, mango, avocado, pita chips) which needed more seasoning and was a bit rubbery but at least it was refreshing? The salad flavors were much better but bits of wilted lettuce and cherry tomatoes way too overripe/mushy. Also the avocado on both looked gorgeous but didn't taste great. At the outdoor bar after eating, I ordered a sparkling rose. They also have fresh young coconuts! But $15 is a bit steep so I skipped it. If it were a cocktail served in a pineapple however... All in all, a great place to chill and enjoy Michigan summer but just ok food. So come for drinks & some bar snacks (fries, wings, etc) and enjoy the view! read more

We were pleasantly surprised by the food, drinks, and atmosphere! Fortunately, the sun was shining and it was a lovely afternoon to sit out on the deck with the live music. We shared the beet salad, add shrimp and a lobster roll. The painkiller specialty cocktail was delicious! I was originally turned off at the idea of ordering at the counter. However, it was a neat concept of four different kitchens and two bars. I highly recommend this unique dining and drinking experience. read more

Two and one half stars. Disfunctional and disappointing. First off the ordering process is bit of a joke. It's bizzaro self serve. You have to go to one window for seafood. Another window for salads. Another for wings and beer. Yet another for burgers. Meanwhile, the same poor girl was forced to run from one window to another to take separate orders from us which doesn't make sense. I could possibly understand this process if the food was coming from separate kitchens at different locations. But nope. It all comes from the same place. The food itself was extremely average. I ordered the fish tacos. Passable but bland. My family all ordered lobster rolls which again were just alright. The best part of the meal were the homemade potato chips. The dining area is fairly generic with poor acoustics. Loud with lots of echo. There was no service to speak of so it is what it is. I doubt that we will return unless they rethink their dining model. read more

The service here is always great and the staff are very friendly. The owners seem like great people as well, and the location and atmosphere at Brandy's Harbortown are awesome. It's a place you really want to love and keep coming back to. Unfortunately, the food just hasn't lived up to the rest of the experience, especially for the price. The burgers and other items tend to be pretty mediocre, and I've honestly found myself wishing I had just gone to Culver's or B-Dubs instead. From looking through other reviews, it seems like I'm not the only one who feels this way. With how great the service, and setting is, this place has so much potential -- the kitchen just needs to step it up to match everything else. P.S. the prices make sense for Bay Harbor, but the taste needs to be worth it. read more

Cute place, much different than the previous place that stood here. Has four different little restaurants in a cafe like setting and both an outdoor and indoor bar. Unfortunately only one restaurant window was open when we went as the other three are seasonal. They had a great view of the marina and a bookshelf full of games to play while you wait for food or enjoy a cocktail. Service was a little slow, and they forgot one item from our order. Food was very good, if not a bit overpriced. There is not a kids menu, so while they say they're family friendly, it's hard to cough up $20 for chicken tenders and fries. I had the Caesar that was delicious, almost a creamy garlic like dressing. The honey garlic chicken sandwich looked and smelled delicious too. Another person in our party loved the fish tacos and another loved the burger. Will probably come back over the summer to check out the other restaurants. Definitely more of a date night, not a family place. read more

It's a little annoying here. You have to go up to 3 different counters to order what you want. Then pay for each thing before going to the next counter then pay again. They will give you a beeper for each counter. Then you have to go back up to the counter to Get your item , go to the bar to get yourself a beverage. And they expect you to tip at each counter every time. There is NOservice here. You do it all yourself. It's incredibly irritating. The food was just OK. Nothing special, very average. But the view of the water and marina is outstanding. That's really all they have going. read more

For me, a new restaurant, replacing one I frequented fairly often. The decor is contemporary, with a clean look. The bar is in center with separate food windows to the sides. So, no servers, but a very good concept for northern Michigan. The fresh fish tacos were very good- light and fresh. A white wine was "on tap," and I also enjoyed that. My kids (in the 35-45 range) will love the menus, as I think there's a good choice for any age group. Grain bowls, lobster rolls, salads, but also wings and smash burgers and fried fish. Lots of healthy and/or vegetarian options- lots of non fried options! Many thanks for that! I was there on a Wed afternoon and despite fewer than 20 customers, it was quite loud. Stopped by for a couple drinks and lunch. Perfect location with a large patio to enjoy water views and sunshine. Service (from the outdoor bar tender, to the "hosts" and indoor food staff) was lacking organization and any sense of enjoyment from their jobs. Very appealing place for dinner and drinks on a warm afternoon. Experience at th Fresh Catch was less than desirable. The lobster roll was totally bland. Lobster had spent too much time in the freezer and had lost its taste. The fish taco was mediocre. Chips that came with the lobster roll were so heavily salted and spiced that they were inedible. In spite of this, will come back another day, but not to the Fresh Catch. read more
