My boyfriend and I split the 2 piece platter (comes with coleslaw and fries). Our server was really nice and asked if we wanted an extra coleslaw. The fish was perfectly fried and not too heavily breaded. The fries were average, nothing too special. Pricing is average for this type of meal in a town like Charlevoix. It wasn't my favorite ever whitefish (that would be Scalawag's in Petoskey and Blue Water Grill in Grand Rapids) but it did the trick! read more

Omg THIS place is a MUST stop if you're traveling Michigan! Everything is made fresh from the batter to the sliced & fried zucchini, the French fries (chips) and the fish itself! The batter was the perfect layer without being too thick but still had the crispy crunch which went perfect with that homemade and surprisingly almost sweet (from the mixture of the pickled flavor added) tartar sauce! The whitefish was very moderately priced (you'll find many places rack up the fee) for the meal on 2 and 3 pieces over getting the cod fish and chips - but that was great too for the kids meals! Our 5 year old actually finished his and went for our fish when we usually have trouble keeping him from the fries and getting him to eat the fish. The staff was friendly and even though the whole state (and country) is experiencing staffing issues but they sat us quickly, the server was happy and a fun Nana and the food came fast! You'll probably want to order a beverage while you visit to enjoy while your food cools because it came straight out and was fresh off the fryer, so let the food cool a minute. Looked forward to eating fish and chips a few feet away from the water. However, I extremely disappointed: the fish had no flavor, fishy odor, heavily breaded and not cooked well (thick pieces). The tartar sauce was also disappointing-just tasted of mayo. It was not even edible and had to throw it away. Overall, not worth the price for the poor quality. I was there with friends for the 2023 Venetian Festival and stopped in for a to-go drink, purchased three drinks (one was a cocktail) the other two beers and left a very generous tip. My friend poked a hole into his cup which obviously had a lid so to use a straw and the owner jumped up started screaming that he could lose his liquor license due to that. He offered to replace the lid with a new one because we never heard of this rule, now the owner becomes irate and screams ; ....get the fuk out !!! Viens popping, eyes buldging and stinking of booze we get up to leave and he bumps into my friend pushing him out the door. I asked the older gentleman that was next to me if we had done anything wrong, he said we should just get up and leave that the owner had been drinking. We spoke to others at the event about this and all agreed that the owner (Terry) must have been drinking. Now I am 71 years old and eat out often and never have I ever come across such an un professional restaurant owner so obnoxiously arrogant, rude, disrespectful and physically confrontational. The waitress that took my order was very rude - still extremely rude when I came back 10 mins later. I spent $36 on 2 orders of fish and chips. (I gave a large tip because of covid). My fiancé and I stopped here for a quick bite before the bridal tour at Castle Farms. We shared a three piece whitefish and chips that came with a small side of slaw, tarter sauce, and french fries. The breaded fish was the best I've had...there was a thin layer of breading on the fish and the fish was good without any tarter sauce. I actually wasn't impressed with their sauce or slaw, so my fiancé had no problem eating those. When I come back to Charlevoix, we'll probably check out a few other restaurants before we come here. Do not eat here during COVID-19. This restaurant clearly doesn't respect its customers, because it is NOT respecting COVID-19 guidelines. They are cramming people in, despite the 50% capacity guidelines. We were elbow to elbow with the table next to us. Most members of wait staff were wearing half-shields instead of masks. I heard several patrons complain as they were being seated about the close quarters. One table had to stop the hostess from seating a large group at the table next to them because they were eating dinner with their baby (!). No apologies from staff, just irritation at having to move the group. This restaurant is blatantly flouting the rules and putting customers at risk. read more

I had the whitefish and chips and the fish was not as fresh as it has been in the past, nor was the slaw.
