So I had no idea that this hotel was known to be haunted. I just stayed there for 2 nights with my wife and kid. The hotel itself was okay, sorta of dingy and dull. During breakfast the first morning, there was an older couple, and the wife burned her finger on the waffle maker. She then got pissed and started yelling at her husband because he didn't react the way she thought he should. Then a second couple came in the next morning, and they were fighting too! People seemed to be disturbed by something here. During the second night is when things got interesting. About 1:30 am I was awoken randomly. As I laid there in bed, I could hear some very loud but muffled screaming. It was a man's voice. I sounded like English, but I couldn't understand it, even though I should have been able to. As the screaming and yelling continued, it sounded like a large bowling ball was being thrashed around the room. It rattled the wall as I had my ear pressed up against it trying to figure out what the in the hell was going on. It was pretty scary, and I don't scare easily. It's actually really hard to explain and convey what I heard and felt. This went on and on, as I debated waking up my wife and getting out of there. It was at that point I decided to pray. I said, Jesus, please make whatever that is stop so I know my wife and son will be okay. The very second I ended my prayer, the noise stopped completely. I was really surprised, which led me to believe that may have been a spirit because the prayer ended that nonsense immediately. After a 2 second google search, it was documented many times that this hotel is commonly haunted. And the breakfast is greasy paper like bacon, and sausage. There is a waffle maker though! read more

Beware and choose somewhere else!! We planned to stay here for 4th of July weekend but couldn't. The room we got was very old and dated with a broken sink handle, hot & cold knobs being opposite, and there were broken tiles in the restroom, plus damaged flooring in the room. The chain lock on the door was broken and as guests were returning to their rooms at night, it sounded like they were trying to open our door so I didn't feel safe and didnt sleep. The blinds didn't close completely and the curtains did not keep light out. Room smells musty & unclean, and the towels are so old and thin. The patio screen door came off tracks when we opened it. Lastly, the AC unit was loud when it turned on. When I brought this to the front desk, they told me only the queen rooms were renovated to match pictures online, not the King rooms. I asked to speak with the general manager and when I explained everything to her, she said she could only refund the night we didn't stay because we stayed the first night when we could have left. No customer service or acknowledgement that it was a terrible and unsafe room. The pictures online don't match reality. The only positive is the proximity to the beach which we couldn't even enjoy. While the room is clean the hotel I've seen better days have to say I was really disappointed when I drove up and found out the restaurant closed. I had to pay $25 for an early check-in. There is almost nobody here when I got here not until about three hours later when people started showing up at the regular check-in time. They don't service the room. It's kind of like a motel six with a little bit cleaner, Carpet. The parking is pretty packed at night. You may want to Uber somewhere if you're going to go into town. The pool area was pretty quiet. I will say, but definitely felt like the hotel had been through the ringer and has not come out of the washing machine I haven't really spent a whole lot of time in Ventura since cannabis has been legalized, and it's unfortunate that you can't open your patio door at night and get fresh air because people are outside smoking pot by the pool While I'm grateful the bed what's clean it basically I going to get here there's no atmosphere at all and the breakfast is free but very limited not that you need that much because you're only a block from the beach and you do you want to take advantage of that I'm a big café Fiorie fan and Hotel is about seven blocks away If you're not in into Bike riding along the ocean, this may not be ideal for you and the rate for Junetenth was just ok I also think it's pretty balls you need to charge $10 for a parking spot when you have to kind of take a hike once the upper level filled up When I booked this hotel, I did not see anywhere on the application. I used about the $25 fee nor did they quote that when I called the day before they just said call after 9 AM. We were incredibly disappointed with our stay at the Pierpont. We used to love staying here, but it had been more than a decade since our last visit. Unfortunately, the hotel has deteriorated significantly and no longer reflects the beautiful property we remembered. We booked an ocean-view suite, but even that couldn't make up for the condition of the hotel. The windows don't open, which may be intentional because the freeway noise is so loud that you can't even hear the waves. If you're looking for a peaceful beachfront experience, this isn't it. The biggest disappointment was the cleanliness. Several surfaces that would have taken only a moment to wipe down had clearly been overlooked. One of our towels was dirty, and when I moved my pillow in the morning, I found two small white packets underneath it that had obviously been left behind by a previous guest. That was unacceptable. The common areas also left a poor impression. The check-in desk is located in what appears to be a converted guest room, while the original registration area is visible but filled with clutter. As we walked in, the laundry area was open and in full view, and the hallways looked dirty and poorly maintained. Overall, the property felt neglected rather than recently renovated. We were so put off by the condition of the hotel that we didn't even bother trying the breakfast. It's disappointing because this hotel has so much potential and we have wonderful memories of staying here years ago. Sadly, based on our experience, we won't be returning. This place once hosted Elvis Presley, George Bush, Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and others. Today at Pierpont Inn the restaurant is under construction, the landscaper appears to be on permanent vacation, and this is what they serve you at continental breakfast (see photos). The rotten bananas and apples were in the same exact spot in the tray as they were the day before. As were the potatoes. Seems they serve yesterday's food again. The best thing about this place was the kind staff. The second best thing about this place, was when I checked out. I've stayed at a lot of places, but this place was just completely misrepresented by the website, and by the photos of the rooms. Yes, I was aware this was historical hotel, I didn't know that nothing had been updated since the 60s. I cannot explain to you the amount of filth in this hotel. Yes, it is on the water. It is also right off the freeway. So you're going to have some freeway noise. The balcony that overlooks a swimming pool is very nice, but everything is so dingy, and outdated, it should not be classified as a hotel, but rather a motel. Honestly, just stay at a motel instead of this place. When I found broken tiles in my bathroom, mold on the bathroom walls, a big section of paint rubbed off of the bathroom door, I just knew, that no one cared. I never stood a resort and paid for water. It's always been free even in Newport and Balboa, the bed they need to get new bed has squeaks all night long now could not sleep because the bad bed so old look like it was built in 1930. The inside of this cottage needs to be paint couches are dirty and paint is peeling the woodwork last night. I made a reservation for a garden cottage because my dog has a broken leg and I needed to be near the grass. I selected pet friendly when booking third party, upon checkout online there mentioned a pet fee when I get there, totally okay. So I get there and she tells me I can't stay in the cottage since they don't allow pets. It was just very unclear online. I had to wait a few mins while she figured it out. At first they wanted to put me in a normal room and didn't even offer me a discount. We went back and forth and she put me in a suite which was nice of her since I did pay for the better room. Front desk girl was nice, I was neutral. Not her fault. Whoever runs this place just needs to be more clear when people are booking I think. Which includes the third party sites you decide to advertise your hotel on. I left the room very clean. I take issue with after I checked out. Received a call from front desk that housekeeping went through my room and said I took a water. I never took a water. She proceeded to try to get my credit card information because the one she was running on file wasn't working since I only added the amount of funds to cover the pet fee. I'm very glad she didn't charge my card without asking, as there would've been a mush larger issue (charging me for something I didn't purchase). It was just weird and rude. After the trouble I went through booking you're really going to call me at about a $3 water I never drank?! The call literally felt like a professor calling me to nitpick my midterm . She was like 'we completed the review of your room after your check out'. I've never checked out of a hotel and been spoken to like I committed a crime or something. It was just so so odd I've never had a hotel do that. It could've been an email. I'm guessing maybe one of the house cleaners drank a water and decided to blame me, or maybe there was one missing when I checked in the room? Either way it was not my problem and being bothered about it by phone and not email 3 hours after checking out was bothersome. The room and hotel were okay. Breakfast was terrible and your eggs are wet. Please make the pet policies more obvious and get your house keeping team in check. This place was recommended to me by a friend so I ignored the negative reviews and booked it anyway for it's proximity to the beach and the free breakfast. As the time for the trip got closer, I was a little more worried about seeing other negative reviews but I was happy with the service and my room. This place sucks. Their website does not begin to show the run-down dreariness of this place. We stayed in room 602, which looks so good on their website. The reality is that it's just an overpriced dump. The bed was hard as a rock. The carpet looked like it hadn't been snapped since 1897. The bath towels are so thin and cheap. And the breakfast? Just awful. Bacon and sausage literally dripping with grease. The powdered eggs were trash. They even charge $10 per night for parking, on top of the room rate. I have no idea why there are many negative reviews! Spoiler, it's not the Ritz Carlton but it is a great place to stay and we always love it here! My wife and I checked in on a Wednesday. Upon arrival I found out I booked the wrong dates. Yep, dumb right? They got me into a suite with an ocean view for the same price anyway with 0 hassle! The room was very spacious and comfortable with a Great view! The bed was firm and comfortable as well. They had HBO and two very nice Samsung big screens. I saw no "Crackheads aanother reviewer stated. It's in a great area right just South of the peir. I've never had a problem in this area! Across the street is a very nice State Park right on the beach as well but most importantly, there is an In and Out Burger just down the street! We will return here! My husband and I just got back from an overnight stay here. We had such a wonderful time here. Our room came with a balcony that looked over the ocean and a fireplace, which made it feel so cozy. It also came with free breakfast. It was a little away from downtown so more peaceful. And also walking distance to the beach. So many positives, and negatives, about this place. Okay, let's be real, mostly negatives... The Pierpont Inn kept me in a perpetual state of anxiety. The GOOD: - Great location (right by the waterfront, and Ventura pier!) - Breakfast included (but go EARLY, if you want it warm...and it'll still probably be cold, but free food.) - The rooms have cute, beach vibes, and the in room fireplaces, and balconies are a great vibe! The BAD: - Kinda ghetto, and saw way too many crackheads, walking around like zombies, leaving broken glass everywhere, causing a ruckus, and making a LOT of noise, past 10 pm. - The shower...maybe it was just my room, and I'll add a photo, but WTF WAS THIS. Zero water pressure, and the shower literally only pointed straight up at the ceiling, or straight OUT OF THE SHOWER. Couldn't adjust it any other way. I had to go to work with shampoo and conditioner still in my hair, because the shower is worthless...and water ended up ALL over the bathroom floor. - Housekeeping is apparently "special request" only. LOLWUT. I've never heard of this before, but there is NOBODY around to fill your toilet paper, give you new towels, or take out your trash. You need to go to the reservation office, and BEG. - In-room fridge barely kept anything cold, I had to toss everything that I attempted to keep refrigerated. - In-room microwave didn't work - Carpet was SO FILTHY, that every time I walked on it, without my sandals on, my feet would turn BLACK - Television kept turning off by itself, every 10 mins - WiFi barely got me service - Reservation Staff was very nice, but also very vague, oblivious, and unintentionally unhelpful. Bottom line, this is an okay place to stay, if you're desperate. Way more negatives than positives. It has a certain charm, but it's mostly just outdated, gross, and overpriced. The location is amazing because you are right on the beach but the rooms are horrible! In my room there were ants on the toilet, stains on the furniture and carpet and you felt icky just being there. The only thing that was okay was the bed. It was comfy but you still felt uncomfortable. Someone needs to buy this property and redo the entire thing. I would recommend somewhere else! read more

A Total Disappointment - Do Not Be Fooled by the Price or Promises- The Pierpont Inn was, without question, one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I've ever had. For nearly $400 a night, I expected a comfortable, safe, and clean stay. Instead, I got a rundown, neglected property that felt more like a scam than a service. Let's start with the most serious issue: safety. At no point did I feel secure - not for my vehicle, and certainly not for myself. The property is in clear disrepair, and there's zero indication that guest safety is a priority. The condition of the hotel is completely unacceptable. Everything is dated, damaged, or dirty. The "renovation" banners still up on the property promised completion in 2023 - clearly, that has not happened. It looks like nothing has been done in years. The bathroom was grimy, with a chipped sink basin and a shower pan basin trimmed in hair and mildew. Carpets are badly and visibly stained, and the outdated window-unit A/C barely works. The advertised included breakfast is a joke - poor quality food thrown together in a makeshift room. It's definitely not a perk, and honestly, not even edible. The restaurant that you think is on-site, is a thing of the past. Closed likely til this place is torn down. What's most frustrating is that this place could be great. The location is ideal, and the historic structure has potential. But it's clear the owners have chosen not to invest in the property or the guest experience. Instead, they continue to charge premium rates while delivering subpar - even disgraceful - accommodations. To put this in perspective: on this vacation alone, we've stayed in everything from 5-star resorts to budget 2-star hotels and Airbnbs. Some of the lowest-cost places we stayed offered better value, comfort, and cleanliness than the Pierpont Inn. The odor permeating the property is that of an old bar. Stale booze and cigarettes. The room has that similar smell. This place offers zero value for the cost. ZERO. It was by far the worst stay of the trip, if not my life - and that's saying something. Bottom line: This is a total money grab. There are many other local hotels where you can stay for the same price (or less) and feel safe, clean, and respected as a guest. I booked a room online two weeks prior to our stay. Their online reservation system said I would get an email confirmation. I never got the said confirmation. Nervous, I called to make sure I'm good to go. I called and called for days. No one answered the phone. After about a dozen tries, someone named GingerLee answered the phone, but she hung up on me! I didn't get any sort of communication until the day before check in. They sent me a text confirmation. Fine. I'll take that and decided to enjoy my stay. Then at check out, my invoice was $205 for one night stay, $7 more than what I was quoted but fine, whatever. But when I checked my statement, I was charged $304. I'm now back to trying to call the hotel again to ask about this charge. You guess it. No answer. Good luck to me and to everyone else who tries to have a stress-free stay here! read more

This the most unprofessional, poorly operated hotel I have ever been to. It is supposedly undergoing renovations. It is a mess, not from construction but from being old and run down. There is no lobby, no front desk, no restaurant, no bar and a dim dark parking lot with far too few parking spots. You get an old room that is in need of a complete remodel and that is it. 3.1.2023 5 years after our marriage, we returned for an anniversary stay in the same room we stayed in the night of our wedding. Everything was the same, except the lamps were changed. It was a great flashback. Major downside!!!!! They have lied about their grounds. Posting pictures of what it looked like in previous years. Not currently. The wedding location next to the two cottages had its "gazebo" torn down and replaced with a costco looking gazebo. You can not access the restaurant for anything but breakfast. The front check in the day arrived and did not acknowledge our wedding anniversary after I explained we were married there 5 years ago. I asked if they started weddings again after covid, and she said yes, would you like more information on that? I JUST told you we were celebrating our 5th wedding anniversary. The gal at check out didn't show her face at all. Very short with communication. Explained this on a post on their Facebook page and was told someone would contact me. No one has. That was a month ago. Everything is still under construction as it was 5 years ago. Things have been removed, and staff is unpleasant. We have no desire to return, sadly. Extremely disappointed with a recent experience at The Pierpont Inn. Yesterday I called to book my 70-year old mother a one-night stay, giving my payment info so she wouldn't have to pay when she arrived, just check in. After an hour passed and the transaction didn't hit my credit card, I called back to confirm, which is when I got a different person on the phone, a "manager." He said they were not able to take payment info over the phone, as they could not verify my identity. The local taco truck can take a phone payment, but not The Pierpont Inn. Frustrated, I left work for an hour and drove across town to present my credit card and driver's license, at which point I asked the "manager" if I hadn't called back to verify, and my mom showed up to check in, would they ask her for HER credit card? He said yes. So I suggested that maybe they needed to do better training and possibly get all employees on the same page, because the first person I spoke said I was good to go. He blankly looked at me, confused, and didn't respond. Fast forward an hour when I get a phone call from my mom, who checked in to the room, saw LIVE BED BUGS in the bed, and promptly left. I called to tell the "manager" about this and request a refund. Sadly, he did not sound surprised about the bugs and said they'd refund my transaction. So she checked in to a local Best Western for the night. The price was about the same, and while there was not an ocean view, the employees were pleasant and there were no bed bugs in the room. When I moved to Ventura a decade ago, The Pierpont Inn had a great reputation. My colleagues raved about it, I attended a couple networking events there, and my work hosted a nice training there. But times have changed. After my experience yesterday, I am not surprised to see The Pierpont Inn have a 2.7 out of 5 stars on Yelp. read more

SO DISAPPOINTING. This hotel is horrible. Starting with the rundown office and the rude staff. From there it did not improve. The hotel is dirty and run down. The floor in the room is peeling, the bed feels like you are on plywood, the chairs are cracked and torn, the sink has rust, there is no closet but instead a worn dusty cabinet not tall enough to hang anything in. The windows were dirty. The towels felt like drying off with sandpaper and about as big as a wash cloth. And the rooms are all right on the freeway - the road noise made it impossible to sleep. I stay in a lot of hotels and this is the first YELP review I have ever written - this place was so bad it warranted the time to warn others. read more

Fireplace should work, sliding glass door to pool should be cleaned and the rooms need total update. Baseboards and furniture were scuffed and were abhorrent. Bedspread with fresh stains. Fleas bit while walking on frayed carpet. Stay elsewhere read more
