We stayed overnight in Mississippi. I love BBQ and decided to have dinner from The Pig & Pint. The ambience and service were very good. However, the food was disappointing (I had high hopes for this place based on the rave reviews on Yelp). I ordered half rack of ribs, coleslaw, and potato salad. The ribs were dry. The coleslaw and potato salad were not flavorful. I have had much better ribs, coleslaw, and potato salad. Maybe I came on the wrong day. I will give it another try if I come to Mississippi again. read more

Stopped through on our way back home to Texas for a bit of BBQ and I must say this place did not disappoint. I ordered the pulled pork tacos and they were absolutely delicious!! Other parties in my group had the sausage and cheese platter, pulled pork sandwich and the pulled chicken tacos and everyone enjoyed their meal. First time trying it today and both me and my boyfriend are very disappointed, food was over priced and nasty. My boyfriend got the brisket sandwich and it was extremely dry, I got a pulled pork sandwich and my pulled pork was so excessively dry that I used half a bottle of barbecue sauce on it . We also got boudin balls and Jesus they where the worst thing I've put in my mouth . It tasted as if they added a pound of salt in them . Being from Texas we have high expectations of brisket. This place definitely exceeded those expectations. The brisket was tender, flavorful with perfect caramelized crust. I had brisket tacos paired with slaw and mango pico. The sweetness of the mango, subtle tartness from the slaw and smokiness of the brisket was divine. At the table we also had the brisket nachos, big enough for a meal for two. Delicious! P&P also offer quite a selection of craft brews that we didn't try but I'm sure they have something for every taste. The atmosphere was laid back and perfect for my family with 4 children. There's an area on the outside porch with large blocks and chalk that entertained the kids. Also, they offer water bowls for your furry friends to dine along with you! The chicken and pull pork had a good flavor but was dried out and cold. We sent it back and it came back luke warm. The best tasting thing they have is the beef brisket. The rice in the red beans was over cooked or something because it was hard. The fried green tomatoes was good. Heading from Oxford to Baton rouge we stopped in for a bite to eat, the food was good. Had pulled pork sandwich, average with good size portion, brisket sandwich with greens, brisket average with good size portion the greens were way too salty so I couldn't finish them but I kept going back for more from my plate. So I think they have potential maybe they just got a little carried away with that batch. The Star of the show was the pork belly corn dogs! The corn coating was fantastic and having that pork belly in the middle was something very different in a great way. I would definitely go back. read more

Stopped here on the 4th of July on way home to OK. The food was delicious. Their sauces were very good. The meat was melt in your mouth. They have a lot of local drinks that look good and the atmosphere is fun and kid friendly. They have blocks and chalk outside on patio. I work downtown and had heard great things so decided to try this place for lunch today with a friend of mine. Y'all. It was hands down the best BBQ we have had ever had. We shared an order of pork nachos (which is a very large amount - took the rest in a to-go box; the toppings set it off - those marinated onions! YUM) and I got the brisket tacos for my entrée. I HIGHLY recommend the brisket! It was fantastic - the meat was tender and had the perfect hint of smokiness, paired with their homemade coleslaw on a tortilla and their sweet bbq sauce - perfection. I only wish I wasn't on my lunch hour so I could have tried one of their many craft beers to wash my food down. This place is such a hidden gem! It's tucked away in the cool Fondren district, filled with all kinds of artsy stores - very worth a post-meal stroll. The one weird thing about the Pig & Pint is the line to place orders - there is very little room inside the building at the order counter, so the line only fits about 2-3 people before it's out the door and around the building. Even so, this makes the line look long when it's not, so we placed our orders and were seated in no time! Everything we ordered was awesome - the potato salad, the ribs, the coleslaw, the pork rinds, the nachos. The meats were perfectly smoked and fell apart on the plate, and the sides were well-seasoned and really satisfying. There are a few tables inside but most of the seating is outdoors, with fans and sidewalk chalk for the kid in all of us. They also have an extensive beer list with a lot of rotating local options. The pork belly corn dogs are also a good choice! You can't go wrong with anything brisket, nachos, tacos, all of it! The fried bologna sandwich will change your life. My pap used to make them for me as a kid and till this day I can't get my fried bologna to taste quite as good as his but this sandwich just brought back those good memories and to have that fried egg on there made a classic that much better! Oh and I almost forgot another life changing menu item, the red beans and rice! I got it as a side with my sandwich and no kidding it's got to be the BEST red beans and rice I've had. The fried green tomatoes are also a winner, they have a perfect cornmeal breading and it doesn't fall off while your eating it, which is a big thing for me. In my opinion they are WAY overpriced and not that good. I would rather pay 10 bucks and get a rib plate from Boos Smokehouse (basically a stand with some picnic tables).
