Service staff is very good. Tonight, the restaurant was obviously too busy for back of house to manage. App was good (a giant pretzel, really crisp and hot and good). Ordered a burger, though, big mistake. Thin and dry meat patty. Flavorless cheese. And a ridiculously sweet bun (rather than a potato bun). Think that Kings Hawaii an but somehow sweeter. I am in Ohio visiting my fiancé's family and while there we noticed a take out/to go menu in our hotel room so we thought we would order food from here. The first problem Started when I called and the guy hung up on me before I could get 2 words out...When I called back he was beyond rude! He didn't answer the phone with a,"hello" or a "how can I help you today?" He was just like,"what do you want". I've worked in customer service the majority of my adult life and that is just not how you treat people. I asked the guy if they do delivery and he promptly said,"no, we don't deliver" and then hung up on me. That is not how you treat potential clientele! If he would have said,"I'm sorry man, but we don't do deliver, you are more than welcome to pick up though". That would have been amazing, but as rude as he was I don't foresee myself even trying this place and it's disappointing. read more

Had high hopes going into our first experience here at Pike 40. We love to support local spots. Unfortunately, Pike 40 disappoints. Now, there are good points. The facility looks great inside. Service was attentive and courteous. The food was good looking and tasting , and arrived in well paced increments. The menu is large, but not too large. Now generally, that all adds up to a great review, but Pike 40 misses the mark on value. Price wise you are in the upper $$ zone. The portioning is very small. Like fancy food/ pretentious small. I thought we had ordered from the tasting menu by accident!!!! We were a party of 3. We had 3 mid priced entrees, 2 sodas, 1 glas of wine, a mid priced app, and split a desert 3 ways. The bill....$90 including the 15% tip. I am not a price watcher. I dont mind paying if it is worth the price, but...... My wife and I each ordered the Flat Iron steak for $15. It came out pre-sliced and the meat portion was about the size of a deck of cards. I had a tennis ball sized potato and a side salad literally that would have fit in a coffee mug. It tasted great, but there should have been more of it. My daughter had the pot pie (for $13) which she enjoyed, but it was baked and served in a crock I would more associate with with a serving of french onion soup. We had the pulled pork nachos as an app, they were good but seemed to be missing most of the pulled pork. We shared a hot fudge cake for desert, lots of brownie, but about a golf ball sized dab of ice cream. Are you seeing a pattern? The price/portion ratio is way off here. You should not spend $90 and leave hungry. We arrived at about 8pm. The restaurant was 75% full and we were seated prompty. For only 3/4 full the dining room was loud enough, between patron voices and country music being played, for me to have to ask my daughter sitting beside me to repeat herself multiple times. The tables are awkwardly placed in spots creating traffic flow patterns. We were seated in a booth/table combo by the windows and I could feel fridged air on my back and neck the whole time. It was about 30 degrees outside on this night. Maybe the windows need caulked? Overall not real good for an intimate date. One other aside, the parking lot is poorly lit and treacherous for walking so pack a flash light. Probably wont go back unless we see these points improve in future reviews. read more

Stopped in for lunch . My cousin and I both had the Cobb salad , it was very fresh with tender chicken breast and the best house made blue cheese dressing . We will be returning ! Perhaps for one of their amazing home made desserts :) read more

I have a lot of mixed feelings. I have to agree with other reviewers about it being a bit overpriced. We got the fried pickles as an app (as they were out of zucchini, sadly). The basket of pickles was almost comical. There were four small spears being dwarfed by the already small basket. $6 for four small spears? Really? Yes, they were very good, but still. I totally agree with the reviewer who suggested they should give bigger portions on items that won't break their bank. Pickles would fall into that category! Next came our meals. Actually, the portions for those were not disappointing. I got the winter salad (pecans, cranberries, apples, bleu cheese), and all of those toppings were plentiful. I added the salmon, and it was a little on the small side, but not surprisingly so. (Side note: she asked how I wanted the salmon cooked, which I appreciated, but then I felt like it was not cooked how I ordered--why ask?). The salad was excellent tho. My DP ordered the fish sandwich, which comes with chips, but she asked for fries. She was not told the fries would cost extra, which they did, and they ended up not giving her a sandwich, only the fish. I was not a big fan of the fries. They had so many homemade desserts, and I couldn't pass that up. We ended up getting a piece of carrot cake and a cookie to go. Both are just average, and pricey, so I doubt I'd get dessert again. read more

This was an easy stop right off of I-70. The food was delicious. The decor was hip and inviting. I highly recommend grabbing a bite here! I had the seasonal salad with their house made peach vinaigrette. My husband had a pulled pork sandwich with house made coleslaw and crispy sweet potato fries. Our son accidentally dropped his hot dog on the floor and they made another one for him free of charge. His side of vanilla pudding was to die for. Super good food! Wish we lived closer so we could frequent it more often. read more

Last evening was the second or third time I've given this place a chance since it opened under current name/management. Serving staff was very good, which accounts for the two stars. Even average server would have resulted in one because literally everything else about this restaurant is very sub-par. Let's examine the various components. Location - out in the middle of nowhere in a setting that seems equal parts truck stop and homeless camp. Facility - average decor ruined by horrible acoustics. It's not that large so there is no reason on earth that I could barely hear the people next to and across from me. Immediate downgrade of whatever ambience was being attempted with the bland decor. Service - never blame the front of house for the back of house failures. (Spoiler alert: the back of house failed magnificently in spite of one really good appetizer, which I'll get to in a minute). Anyway, our server was tasked with keeping the natives calm while the kitchen moved glacially to get dishes out. Bar - the place has recently added a draft selection....consisting of zero craft offerings although I'm sure they regard Leinenkugel Summer Shandy to be quite daring. I ordered a draft Yuengling (my go to when faced with no real options. I asked if there were size options and (this will prove telling) was told they serve pints. "That's fine," I thought...until I discovered that pints in East Ohio are apparently 12 ounces, since that was the size of the pour. My SigOther ordered a sangria which was served in red wine stem-Ware as opposed to a Collins glass, obviously to keep the cost down by offering half of what should have been a 10 to 12 ounce serving. Fine. I pretty much guessed the bar manager either didn't know better or was incredibly cheap. Which brings us to FOOD - the seemingly impossible mountain upon which an endless line of restaurants has been broken. The app was the best part of my meal. It was a very good, very warm, very tasty pretzel. This treat arrived about 45 minutes after we ordered. Really. 45 minutes. The kitchen was going so slowly that the server brought out some complimentary house made potato crisps that were also pretty good...especially since it took another 45 minutes for the entrees. Alas, from this low hillock there was nowhere to go but straight into the ground. I had ordered the Jet burger based on the description, which sounded good on paper. What arrived was a thin, over cooked beef (?) patty served with a glob of flavorless but yellow cheese stuff, several pieces of tepid bacon, and rather old French fried onions (they were cool and soggy and off-putting). This mess was served on a bun so sweet that I was certain it had been dipped in simple syrup. The average dollar menu burger is better. Don't waste time or money here. read more

We stopped for dinner while passing through on our way to Wheeling. It happened to be the Grand Opening. I was surprised they were able to accommodate us with no wait for a party of 5 on opening night. The wait staff was super nice, the hostess was especially friendly and attentive. The food was excellent and perfectly cooked. I had the cod sandwich and my boyfriend had the fried fish. We both liked my cod better. The kids devoured their burgers. I preferred the hand cuts fries as to the chips. All and all it was a cute little restaurant and we were glad we stopped. read more

I wanted to support local business so I consulted yelp and found this place on my way from Columbus to D.C. for a conference. Cute ambience inside was the only upside. The owners were having a meeting on the patio and it was a pretty day so I asked if I could sit out there. They said yes. This was a mistake. I sat. I thought, did they think I didn't want to eat? But finally someone came and took my drink order. I checked my FB, listened to some messages, wrote some texts, and finally went inside to go to the bathroom where I told them I hadn't ordered yet. Someone came out and took my order, brought good rolls (oops another upside). Long wait for salad with lots of slimy and brown pieces of lettuce which I picked off and put on my bread plate. Then I got a lot of attention from various waitresses and the table of owners. I wondered if they could see the pile of discarded lettuce as I just nodded fine as I ate. Anyway, told the owners about the lettuce at their prompting as I waited for my change for an inordinate amount of time (more FB, more words with friends, etc). I finally left without my change. My younger two sons work in the restaurant biz so I hate to give this negative of a review but Bob Evans Cobb salad and service is infinitely better. Yuck. read more

Sunday Brunch Buffet was very appealing and great to eat. Had the housemade desserts. Had the Bread Pudding and the Hot Fudge Cake. Both very tasty. Megan was pleasant and attentive. Was able to take a look at their weekly menu. Looks pretty good. Will be back to enjoy. read more
