We were in town for the Oglebay zoo. We came to Rachel's for breakfast. Everything was absolutely wonderful. I got biscuits and gravy and my wife got a breakfast sandwich. We were aiming for their breakfast. But with two families and three toddlers to herd between us we sailed right past breakfast and into the lunch rush. The waitress handled the chaos expertly. I was relieved to find (essentially) a breakfast sammich on the lunch menu. Hubs had the French dip. The only downside was that the place is on the small side so our party was split between two tables, it's ok Yelp we survived. I don't know what was in the Mac and cheese side but my toddler ate almost the whole plate, and it's a ratio of a small-ish toddler to a larger plate. Always delicious, & the lunches have generous amount of meat. They need to advertise more, because it's hard to see when you're driving by. I wouldn't have known about it if my dad didn't tell me, but this place didn't disappoint. I loved my pastrami blt, & I stole my dads gravy for my fries :) so good read more

The waitress was wonderful and friendly. She talked to us like we were family almost. She was super quick and very accurate with the order. Order was ready within 15 minutes and I have not one complaint. Everything was super hot and fresh and was very very reasonably priced. We are here for the Blues Festival and stumbled upon this amazing place. It's is clean and the service impeccable. The food came out fast and just off the griddle hot. The servers all were super friendly, attentive and helpful. What a treasure of a cafe. We will be here every day during the festivities. read more

In May 2023 they moved to North Wheeling location, Main Street, sharing newly remodeled Carlitos building. Rachel's will serve breakfast and lunch. Brief close. And Carlitos will do dinner hour. Historic building just north of Wheeling Tunnel, with E-Z access from I-70. Along the Ohio River side of Main Street, by the fire department. Newly remodeled outdoor deck with views of the Ohio River. Take a walking tour of Old Town Victorian Wheeling, either before or after your meal!! (You are just north of the very historic Suspension Bridge, and the site of the 1777 and 1782 Battles at Fort Henry; Betty Zane's run for the gun powder.) read more

We stopped in Wheeling on the way to the Football Hall of Fame and looked for a good lunch spot. A couple were closed, possibly due to the ongoing pandemic, but Rachel's was open and was about half full. Very friendly staff and welcoming environment. I had the 16th St Club (big thick club sandwich with a fried egg) and my family had a Swiss burger, chicken parm panini, and ham and cheese panini. My wife had a chipotle burger that was excellent. All were really good and came out fast after ordering. For me the highlight was the fresh cut fries. These were thick and perfectly seasoned. Very attentive, friendly service. You can also pay with a QR code on the receipt using a your phone payment app. Really good lunch and highly recommended. read more

We visited Wheeling for a hockey game and found this place for breakfast the next day. Had a wonderful meal. It's a small shop but packs plenty of goodness in it. The menu is limited but ohhh the food was fresh, tasty and filling. We were very satisfied. It's not overly pricey but don't expect a "dollar menu." These folks present a quality product, in a pleasant lively atmosphere at a fair market price for what you get, good food. We were pleasantly surprised and happy with our choice. Well done, ladies. The best diners in wheeling. Spent a few days down in oglebay and saw reviews about their food. Had to try it.. 2 days in a row. Lunch was simple & delish.. soup and salad.. then the next day we had to try their breakfast. Pancakes and French toast. Superb!! Also the server and cook were very down to earth and friendly! Excellent breakfast and atmosphere. I usually don't care for breakfast anymore but Rachel's lit that spark again. You can really tell they care for quality of food and make sure you leave happy . As we walked in we were promptly greeted. A table had just become available but our greeter / waitress asked for a moment to clear the table. Place was busy as it was lunch hour and she also had another table to service so the other waitress jumped right in and grabbed menus and a rag to wipe down the table while the other cleared the old dishes. Nice team work! Menu was limited but the food was plentiful and delicious. Loved their home cut fries. Their potato soup was tasty and my "Rachel" sandwich was nice as well. A swiss, turkey, and slaw with thousand island dressing was good, but it could have had a little more turkey on it. My brother had the Fish and Chips and first impression was the fish was a bit over cooked. The fish seemed to have been left in the deep frier a wee bit to long as it was more brown than golden. My girlfriends salad was generous and chicken steaming as it came out last; a few min. after our dishes did. Over all it was a nice experience with friendly staff and customers; adding a plus in my book to try it again. Would score as a 3.5 but can only do whole numbers. So 4 will work for me.. read more
