I was hungry and was really to do anything else. A friend mentioned pizza and that it was pretty good as well. I'm inclined to agree. I had a few slices with crust and the crust was like a soft bread stick. It has a good chew and texture. The inner slices were a bit greasy but when you get pepperoni it is to be expected. The crust wasn't soft though, even after a while. (Maybe 10-15m after it was delivered?) Delivery man was nice and brought a receipt for me to sign that allowed me to add a tip, which is great since I'm not usually carrying around cash these days. If you're stuck working in the blank, null-vibe industrial hell that is Mira Mesa, Sorrento, etc., then you know it's hard to find a slice of warm color, culture, or personality. Pun unintended. I'm a creature of the inner city. I'm sad and lost in these parts. I frolic in North Park, Little Italy, and so on. It was definitely refreshing to escape the cubicle. For $14, you can get two slices and a fountain drink. For just a couple bucks more, you can get two slices and a beer! Too bad my supervisor was there! I picked the chicken pesto pizza and the veggie. Both were totally decent--not too heavy, not bland, not too salty, not paltry. Just right. I appreciate the variety of slices to choose from and also the diversity of the menu. I saw wings, salads, pasta, and a handful of other items but if you're on a time limit, the pizza slice combos are the way to go. I don't want to rouse the crowd by saying this, but this place kind of reminds me of Landinis in Little Italy if it was forced to comply with the boringness of the surrounding architecture. NARRATIVE: Walking in to the Pizza Joint, I was glad to see they sell pizzas by the slice. As you can see by the pictures I posted, there pizza slices come in many, many options. I ordered three slices and the drink combo which came in just around $20 bucks. All the pizza slices are heated to a crispy and hot temperature and they are not stingy with their slices or toppings. I tried the; Baron''s NY Special, the Murder Scene and the Bronx Bomber and I'd have to say, my favorite of all three was the Murder Scene. Not the best sliced pizza I've had but, not the worst by any means. SCENE: The Pizza Joint is located in the same strip mall as; The Burger Joint & Brew and the Royal Cigar Lounge right off of Miramar Rd. I am not a fan of pineapple and ham pizza or big on ranch, but their Flyin Hawaiian is a sweet, savory, spicy blend that will have your lips tingling, mouth watering , and your soul will absolutely sing with joy. Stumbled upon this pizza place on a Monday night around 8:45pm. There was a big sign that said 20% off for Military Mondays so since my boyfriend is a veteran we came in for a bite. There was plenty of seating available and the slices were heated up and came out quickly! I liked that they offered oregano and garlic powder as condiments, and the fountain drinks had unique flavors! There was pineapple cream soda, vanilla cream, root beer, and black cherry. I've arrived here when they've opened at 10:00 am and they had fifteen different pizzas in the display case that were ready for purchase by the slice. It's $4.50 per slice and they have a deal at $9.50 for two slices with a cup for their soda fountain, or $13 for two slices with a beer. Chicken bacon ranch pizza by the slice: as expected, this slice didn't disappoint due to the combination of grilled chicken, smoked bacon, ranch sauce, and oregano that created harmonious flavors, 5/5 stars! Capo pizza by the slice: this meat trio of peperoni, sausage, and meatballs is perfect for carnivores. Combined with the zesty sauce and soft internal doughy crust that has a slight crispy exterior. If this just had more cheese, it would've been perfect. Thus, my rating is 4/5 stars. The service was just as spectacular. From the moment we've walked in, the gentleman greeted us with "good morning." He was ready to take our order at the front counter. All I can say this place is nothing but amazing. The staff is very welcoming! I purchased a pizza a while back and they made a mistake on the order, I was told that I'd receive a credit. When I called they mentioned they did not have anything on file, which was fine with me. The employee went above and beyond and called the owner before I arrived. They gave me a 30% discount that I am thankful for. We ended up staying for a beer as well! They have a great draft selection if you're a beer lover! The pizza tasty and thin. It's aight. NY pizza is hard to find in San Diego or just anywhere outside of New York. Something about imported Italian sauces...or NY water? The Pizza Joint does it well enough. You can order by the slice or by the pie. I'd say by the pie but you'd finish one all by yourself. Unless that's the goal, get yourself some slices instead. I personally love the Cheese Wiz and would recommend it to anyone who loves white pies but wants that marinara. Only tip I can give you is to ask for your slice to be a little well done. I like my pies a little crispy, not like a thin crust, but enough to not be doughy but not cardboard either. Just enough bite. Not sure what else to add. It's a good option for anyone craving pizza. I frequent Royal cigar lounge next door and also work in the area somewhat regularly, but have only swung into The Pizza Joint a couple times. Today after some friends and I wrapped up some cigars and a couple of beers we decided to grab some pizza before hitting the road. Patrons walking into The Pizza Joint are welcomed with a bright and open environment and considering the size, I feel that they have ample seating for those wishing to dine in. The counter has a large glass case displaying all the pizzas available by the slide as well as a cooler full of drinks and a display with all the other drink options. Today I decided to go with the buffalo chicken pizza and a pepperoni, sausage and jalapeño pizza. Since I'd already had a couple beers, I opted for a cold Fanta orange soda because they always hit the spot. My pizza slices were warmed up quickly and served to me at the other end of the counter. Both slices were perfect and had some great flavor and weren't overly greasy like some pizza places serve. I'm notorious for not eating the crust on pizza if it's at all burnt, or too doughy, but even the crust on the pizza here is good to someone pickier like me. It's not too much bread, isn't burnt and was quite enjoyable. Aside from the bright atmosphere, I also like how their peppers, seasonings and grated cheese are all in a small, glass-front fridge so that people can just pick what they want. I think I'll start incorporating The Pizza Joint into my Sunday-Funday with the boys moving forward. read more

I love that their pizza crust holds itself up instead of drooping when you lift your slice, and it has a slight chewiness to it. The wings were super flavorful and well-seasoned, and the house salad was simple but good. Prices are also cheaper compared to the other pizza chains we were considering. Came back to try this place after they messed up my order once before. Originally, I arrived to pick up my $130+ order and then they told me it would be an extra 15 minutes. In the span of 55 minutes they managed to give one of my pizza's away to another customer who said the dough was under-cooked so I had them make another pizza since the customer had already walked off with that pizza. It was near closing by the time I got my food and they were using some heavy cleaning chemicals on the floor because the stench was awful. I didn't mention it then because I wanted to get my pizza and leave. They told me a manager would call the next day and, to their credit, they did call and offered $50 credit...sigh. I gave this place one last try to use up the credit. They said they could not do delivery despite me calling at 9pm when they close at 10pm. I agreed to come pick up. I arrived around 930pm and the chairs were all upside down on their tables and the floor was being mopped with a horrible stench of cleaning chemicals again. I had ordered a sandwich alongside our pizza and I noticed that it tasted a little off. By the time I had gotten through half of the sandwich I realized what the weird flavor tasted like, THE CLEANING CHEMICALS. I did end up getting sick the next morning and who really knows if it was the food but, come on people, restaurants should not cut corners. The floor cleaner they use must either not be restaurant-grade quality or they are using entirely too much cleaner. Their bread rolls, and probably their pizza dough, is contaminated with the chemical smell. I don't know their storage tactics but imagine them cleaning their floors daily with this toxic smell filling the air of the entire restaurant and you'll get what I'm trying to convey. I really had high hopes for this place but I'll be filing a complaint with the county. read more
