I first went to this pizza spot during my undergrad years at UCSD in 2023 and have not ordered pizza from any other place since. Whether I'm looking for a quick bite or planning for a big event, Regents is always my go to. They have a nice variety of foods ranging from pastas, burgers, and of course their specialty Chicago and New York style pizzas. All of which have been amazing. My personal favorite has to be their Brooklyner New York pizza with hot honey, but you really can't go wrong with any of their options. This place can get pretty busy during dinner, but for good reason. The environment feels comfortable and is also a nice place to grab a drink and watch whatever sport is in season. Everyone that I have interacted with at this place has been nothing but welcoming. The employees are very attentive to their customers and are happy to help in any way they can. Oh Regents Pizza! You only get better!! Chicago style meat lovers is an all time favorite, and getting it fresh in restaurant truly is far superior to take out. Crust is crispy perfection. Tasty food, busy place. Parking lot can get crazy, they will validate parking if you are going to be there more than the min for free. We lucked out and there wasn't a line to place an order until ten minutes after we did and the place was swamped. We've been here several times and know how to order but it is confusing at first and a bit chaotic at the counter/where to stand/servers scrambling around the same area/pick up drivers looking confused but the chaos is with it as the pizza is awesome. Placed ordered for our table which needed up being five deep dish slices and fountain drinks. Tip - Pounce on a table quickly when u arrive and have someone else order as this place gets bonkers. Took about 15 minutes for our slices to come out. All were hot and tasty. I was the odd ball and got the Popeye, the rest were the meat combo. Everyone enjoyed. Definitely a favorite pizza place. Whenever I visit my best friend in San Diego, I mention going back to Regents. Of course, we finally did after a few years of hiatus. Regents is located right across from UTC shopping and has its own parking lot. If you get it validated, the first hour is free. But of course, when hanging out at Regents, you'll spend a few hours here. They have an extensive beer menu and a pizza slice menu. Instead of ordering both separately, I like to get their combos: I ordered their Combo that has two pizza slices and a beer of my choice. It's not bad! I chose a classic pepperoni and a white sauce pizza to go along with my Hazy IPA. After ordering, they give you a number, and you can choose any open seats from inside and out. The utensils are napkins are a must. These pizza slices are HUGE! Bigger than my hand and definitely bigger than my beer glass. Coming out fresh and hot, these pizzas are delicious and go down well with a beer. The interior is bustling with people (and flies because it gets hot). The servers are back and forth but always doing so with a smile. With the prices and food, nothing beats Regents. I love it here! read more

The inside looks great, bar vibes and outdoor seating as well, normally super busy but today was chill with graduation, a lot of ppl went out for lunch but I wanted to come here. Ordered takeout from here for dinner. Lots of people inside eating, and a lot of college kids. I got a few slices instead of a whole pie since it was just for me. The slices are massive! 1 or 2 is definitely enough for one person. The NY slices were really good. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor of the MooShroom pizza since it was a white pizza. The garlic really shines through in it and the fried onion topping really adds something special. On the Brooklyner slice, they left it in the oven a bit longer so it was a bit hard. Overall though, really good crust without excessive flop. I got one slice of the Popeyes deep dish to try it out. Really solid construction, you definitely don't need a knife and fork to eat this one. Flavor was about average, perhaps a different pizza would've been better. Crust is really thick at the end of the pizza, but has good texture. I'd recommend this place to a friend. Food: i tried both the chicago style pizza and new york style pizzas here and they lived up to their expectations. this is now my favorite pizza spot in san diego so far. it was my first time trying new york style pizzas too! they're crispy but lightweight and flavorful. the chicago pizza on the other hand was huge, layered, and stacked. most of the toppings lay inside the pizza. think of it like a pie! the crust of the pizza was also so good. One of the better tasting pizza restaurants in the area. The restaurant is pretty spacious with the main dining area as well as a large side dining area. You order at the counter and are given a number to take to your table. Everything else is pretty self serve, including drinks and utensils. We ordered by the slice which is nice as everyone got to choose the pizza they wanted. We ordered the pepperoni, cheese, NY white, NY Dominque pizzas, Caesar salad, truffle fries and pomodoro spaghetti. For desert we had the tiramisu and zeppole. The pizzas and truffle fries were good. Would come back for these again. The only thing we were pretty disappointed about was the zeppole. They didn't really taste like anything. The staff were nice, food came out fairly quickly. However I wish they would have helped us clear some of our dishes to make room for our deserts. We ended up doing it ourselves to another empty table just to make room. Popular pizza spot amongst college students with it being right next to UCSD. Typically get the Chicago style deep dish when I'm here because I prefer a more doughy pizza. I also got the New York style today and wasn't a big fan of the crust, there was not really any flavor to it. In addition to that, not a fan of the flop, the pizza doesn't hold up well. So, a review of Regents Pizzeria is sorely overdue. I was 1st introduced to Regents years ago as part of a cliche of the modern corporate workplace. You know, that onerous practice of corporate overlords rewarding unpaid extra hours & weekend work with pizza rather than any truly tangible form of appreciation. Yeah, that. But, hey, at least it was Regents. Every time this stuff showed up in the break room, which was more often than reasonable, I knew that, of all things, the pizza was going to be good. Regents is, in fact, my favorite Chicago style pizza in all of SD county. That's what I always get here. By the grace of my former employer, I've also had quite a bit of their NY style pizza & I like that a lot too. Not too long ago, I came here for their release of Russian River Pliny the Younger. In the craft beer world, it's a big deal & draws a crowd. Yes. Regents is an outstanding beer destination too. For a turnout that packed the house, service was friendly & efficient. To go with my unicorn beers, I got a couple slices of their Chicago style Meat Lovers. Simply, beer & pizza heaven The only drawback to coming to Regents is parking. Seats had sticky residue from spilt soda, staff were asked to reheat an item and ended up dropping it after reheating it and then proceeded to forget about the order entirely. Gotta pop my review up from 4 to 5 stars. I saw on the Regents Instagram that there would be a Russian River tap takeover today starting at 11AM. While many Russian River beers would be poured, the apple of my eye was the rare Pliny the Younger. I was not disappointed. I walked in the door at about 12:30PM and it was a mob scene. Fortunately, as I made a beeline to the bar, someone paid his check and left. I snagged that seat FAST. Super friendly bartender took my order right away and brought me my Pliny. Having been on our pizza list to try for some time, we finally got the chance. Located in La Jolla, there's a lot in front or a structure so parking should be good. They can get very busy so if you are in a hurry, definitely try calling in your order. There is a main seating area which requires you to order at the front counter, a bar area for food and drinks as well as outdoor patios. Alcohol is not allowed out front due to liquor licensing. Inside patio is fine for drinks and food. We ordered a Greek salad, buffalo wings and a whole pie with half and half. The bowl the salad came in was a little shallow for mixing in dressing and they didn't bring out sharing plates and we had to ask. The wings were good and had plenty of sauce. The pizza as well was tasty but I like the dough just a little more done. It was just a little soft. Definitely recommend the NY brooklyner. read more

It has been years since I have been back because I no longer live or work in the area. They have moved into a new, bigger, more hip place. It was packed on a Tuesday evening. I love how they have both Deep Dish and NY style, and you can get a full pizza or slices. You order at the front and they bring your food out. Great beer options as well. Now, the pizza, Deep Dish pepperoni was amazing! The flavors, tons of cheese and perfect end crust definitely rivals deep dish from Chicago. It is quite doughy, so be prepared. The end crust can be a whole meal in and of itself. For Deep Dish, this place is hard to beat in SD. Also, the Tiramisu got many raves from my group. And my son loved the NY style. The place was absolutely packed on a Friday evening. So if you're going to eat in, just note that there might be a wait. Good vibes overall. We live about 10 miles away. Even with that much distance our haul was nice and hot when we got it home! We ordered a slice of their monthly special, Salvatore Tessio. Way too many ingredients to list out, lots of meat, cheese and tomatoes, no sauce. In hand I swear it weighs a pound, very girthy. First bite, wow, that's good! Speaking of girthy pizza, we also ordered a 14" Deep Dish, their Windy City Mozzarella Classic. So; much; cheese, in the best possible way! Additionally we topped our pizza with sausage, bell peppers, onions and cupping pepperoni. Like the earlier slice, this pizza was seriously heavy. After a few bites I had to stop, was so good but was also just a lot. Gut bomb! There were some chicken wings involved as well. Slathered in buffalo sauce and accompanied by their delicious chunky blue cheese, these flappers were succulent and tender. A must. Regents is basically my friends' and I's neighborhood haunt. Living in UTC, Regents is pretty much the go-to place to grab a drink and food and hang out for a bit. The staff is friendly and they all seem to know people and get along which helps with the neighborhood spot vibe. The food never misses--the pizza is what it's known for, but honestly I haven't had anything there that has disappointed me. I also love having the buffalo chicken tender fries, especially when there's a good flavor of the month (they let you use any sauce!). The rotating flavors and taps also adds a fun reason to always keep coming back to Regents. There's always a good selection on tap, with a great range from ciders, sours, stouts, IPAs, ales, you name it. It's fun to try all the different ones since they're always rotating. The monthly flavor pizzas are also creative and I enjoy getting to try them every month. My favorite classic flavors are the Dominic's for the NY style pizza and the Meat lovers for the Chicago style. read more

By West Coast standards, this is a great spot to get Chicago deep dish pizza. I like how they sell so many pizzas by the slice, including multiple deep dish options. Their combos are also a plus, as you can choose two slices from the 10 or so options in the case plus soda or beer Or one slice + any salad + drink of choice. They have many beers on tap, and a large dining layout with indoor and outdoor options. I got the Popeye deep dish slice, which as a former Chicago resident, I can say is a good rendition of classic deep dish featuring a delicious tomato sauce, spinach layer, plenty of cheese and a surprise artichoke layer. I had been here two years ago with my girlfriend and we came back here today to share a pizza and salad. It was quite crowded and noisy at 12:30, but we were fortunate to find a table on the patio in the very back away from all the noise We placed our order for a slice of white pizza and a fried chicken Caesar salad to share. In the past, I have had their deep dish pizza and I was a little bit disappointed with how thin the regular pizza slice was, but it was tasty enough that I wasn't thoroughly disappointed. Next time I will have the deep dish Popeye pizza which I preferred. The large order of the fried chicken Caesar salad was delicious. The salad was crisp Romain with generous fresh Parmesan cheese all over it and the fried chicken piece was cut into six strips, so there was ample enough for the two of us to share. Lots of fresh lemon slices made it even better And we squeeze the fresh lemon juice all over the salad and the dressing came on the side into little containers and it was very good. All in all the salad tasted very fresh and it was a good choice for us today. Despite the crowd, our food came very quickly and we enjoyed the ambience there with the big lunch crowd and the TV on the sports channel. Our bill came to $27 for the two of us to share so it was a great deal for a wonderful satisfying lunch. I will be back! I forgot to mention that the parking is free with the first hour validation from the restaurant but anything after that is three dollars an hour so we ended up paying three dollars today. read more

Was in the neighborhood and craving some wings so I decided to drop into Regents and try theirs. Ended up ordering the Nashville hot wings and a Greek salad just to try and be a bit healthy. Will have to try the pizza another time but it looked NY style thin and crunchy. Grabbed a table, they have tons of seating inside, and the food was brought to me in a few minutes. The wings were yummy. Double fried likely and super crunchy on the outside. The wings were tossed in a spicy "Nashville" mix and was just the right level of heat. The Greek salad was a giant portion with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, olives and onion and all around tasty. Came on a Thursday night and this place was packed, though the parking lot still had many free spots open. We ordered: NY biancaneve, NY pepperoni, Chicago deep dish meat lover and a lasagna bolognese. I loved the thin crust on the NY slices. Perfectly baked and had a great crunch. The deep dish was a bit doughy for me but it was my boyfriend's favorite of the night. The lasagna bolognese tasted very one dimensional, just like a tart tomato sauce. It wasn't a traditional bolognese that typically has a deeper more richer flavor. That said, I still enjoyed it, it just wasn't what I expected when we ordered it.
