So I ordered a couple of pizzas and a salad. On the last bite of salad there was a hard, sharp piece of plastic that broke my tooth. I called to discuss it with the manager, he could only say that this has never happened before and he would need to see the salad which was gone. I tried to explain through his incredibly broken English that the salad came with this in it. He insisted that it wasn't there because the salad was gone. We just went there and the pizza was alright. Their cheese garlic bread was better and their breadsticks were extremely underwhelming. My main problem is that they gave us a 5 Oz cup for water. When we asked for a bigger glass the owner refused. I understand that they use the soda cup count to keep track of how many sodas they're selling. But keep in mind that they sell beer on tap and had actual clear glasses available which he still refused to give us. It was clear so it would be unlikely that anyone would be so bold as to steal soda. All we wanted was more than a mouth full of water. Is it really that much of a hassle for you to wash a glass to make a customer happier to eat your mediocre pizza? It is now called The Pizza Place, but whether you remember it as Pizza Time, Scoreboard Pizza, or The Pizza Place, I highly recommend this restaurant. My other half is a New Yorker born and bred - and anyone who knows pizza knows how particular and opinionated New Yorkers can be about their pizza! Right? I understand there have been several changes in ownership over the years. Admittedly we'd stopped coming here because of inconsistent quality in the past. We have returned to give it another try after several years. We have tried dozens of pizza parlors (literally) and The Pizza Place is one of three places that we would recommend for fresh, made to order, hand tossed pizza that even a picky New Yorker can appreciate and savor. My husband and I are opposites - He prefers plain slices with extra cheese while I tend to mix it up with no less than 3 items per slice (usually pepperoni, mushrooms, and sausage - sometimes green pepper, black olives, and onions) and I am here to tell you that the fellas at pizza time know their craft. The meats are always fresh and seasoned nicely, the mushrooms and veggies are fresh, and they aren't shy about laying on the artery clogging cheese if that's what you're into. But it all starts with being able to watch them toss and twirl that dough in the air until it is just the right size, with the perfect thickness or thinness. I mean shouldn't that be a law or something that if you're going to call yourself a pizzeria you should have to be able to toss the dough for everyone's entertainment - right? After the dough there is a generous laying on of a delectable marinara sauce, and the rest is just icing on this pie. Oven baked and served piping hot, the pizza has our official seal of approval and hope you will give it a try. But wait there's more! Having established the restaurant's bona fides based on the pizza, we are gleefully making our way through and vetting the rest of the menu. We sampled the broasted chicken, the meatball subs, the chicken Parmesan, antipasto salad, and garden dinner salad, and garlic bread and thus far have not found not a weak link in the bunch. My family is from the south and the broasted chicken in particular is probably the finest fried chicken you will find not made by a relative with a secret recipe that you get only when you marry or when the relative kicks it. The batter is light, crunchy, and melts in your mouth. The chicken itself is juicy and perfectly cooked. We like to order food to go as the dining area is pretty noisy - kind of like a college sports bar, but if you're into that you'll love it here. Enjoy your meal with a soda, a choice of one of their many beers on tap or in the bottle, or my favorite ... refreshing seltzer water over ice, which isn't always easy to find in restaurants these days! All in all a pleasant experience. Good and friendly service from behind the counter and lots of happy people in front of the counter. Despite some negative reviews here I suggest giving it a try. The place clearly has a history, and as it is now, I think it should be encouraged to keep up the good work! read more

What the hell is wrong with you? Its bread sticks and people still have to order a pizza to get them? You would rather loose many customers over bread sticks? Really? The pizza here is delicious. I don't know whay the deal os with the ownership change but right nowi it's called the pizza place. Its gonna cost you a few bucks extra than your run of the mill pizza hut or dominos but its well worth it. Their sauces, toppings, and crust l are fresh and tasty. My favorites are the godfather, bbq chicken and buffalo chicken. The staff is friendly and overall, its just a great local pizza joint. A good pizza to feed two will cost you about 18 dollars. The reason I rate it at 4 stars and not 5 is because for me, the places that are better than this would be blazed or pielology. They also have a sit down area kind of like shakeys if you want to eat there. read more

Last night I ordered my last pizza from this place. It was a large supreme and we were starving. I called in at 6:50 and the kid said it would be an hour. After an hour I started to get real hungry an anxious. At an hour and a half I decided I was going to give them 15 more minutes then I'd call. My family comes here often for pizza pickup. Today was the first day I've ever had an issue but it's enough of an inconvenience for me to not return. I picked up our large pepperoni pizza and brought it home to find out that it was burnt to a crisp (with black crust). When I first moved to riverside. I was in search of the perfect pizza. Back home there are only a few places that I order pizza from. I'm very picky and love pizza. When I first tried THE PIZZA PALACE it was delicious!!! Everything was fresh!! The pizza was warm.. the crust was cooked just right!! The cheese and Italian sauce had the original Italian taste of sauce.. the pepperoni have flavor .. plus all the rest of the ingredients!! I was amazed that pizza this good still exists!! This place has been my go to for many years but the last 2 times I have ordered the pizza has been terrible. I thought it was a fluke the first time but then it was equally bad tonight. I am not sure if the ownership has changed but the crust,which used to be a nice fluffy hand tossed, is now flat and tastes like cardboard. The sauce which used to be very good is now bland. If there was an option for zero stars, that's what they would get! I went there one evening after reading several of the reviews and looked forward to good pizza. Well, I went home hungry that evening. I ordered a pizza, wings, and some cheese sticks. There was four of us. We waited for over an hour to no end. Whats worse was that the girl that took our order was cleaning the tables next to ours about 45 minutes after the order was placed, and did not bother to ask if we had received our food. I went to ask about food and they had not even bothered to put the order in. They offered no apology, no compensation, nothing. I asked for a refund and left. I like to stay away from corporate pizza, but I would rather spend my money at any corporate pizza than give these peeps another chance. This place is by our home, we tried them once when we were treated badly by a local franchise pizza place that had a delivery guy show up late because he was across the street smoking weed. We watched him sit across the street for a long time then come to the door with cold pizza and missing part of the order. After he dropped his lighter and stood up looking at us intoxicated we realized needed a change. We have now ordered from The Pizza Place many times. The owner is very rude! I see a lot of reviews saying the same. I used to buy here all the time, until now. My wife ordered our usual 3 topping pizza (pepperoni, mushrooms and olives) last week. When we opened the pizza at the counter, it was onions instead of olives. Instead of apologizing and offering a new pizza or even a discount, the owner asked the employee "Did you repeat the order to them over the phone?" Of course the employee is going to say yes! Then, the owner looks at us like it is our fault, and offers NOTHING. If he had at least said sorry I might have even tried the pizza that they made incorrectly. The funny end to this story is that we left and tried a new place and they messed up too, they gave us a plain pepperoni by mistake. However. we didn't notice until we got home. We called the new place to let them know and... THEY ACTUALLY HAD A DRIVER DELIVER THE CORRECT PIZZA TO US, and said to keep the wrong pizza too! I gave the driver a fat tip. I have been a loyal customer for 18 years even through 4 or so ownership and name changes. We had a party for my son's birthday yesterday and instead of ordering $5 Hot and Ready's from Little Caesars, I decided to spend $120 on "good quality" pizza. Bad decision. When the 8 XL pizzas arrived there was almost no cheese or sauce and the pizza tasted stale. I was embarrassed as my friends and family would barely choke it down. When my wife called to politely let the owner know as we felt it had to be a fluke, the owners was completely rude and made it very clear he didn't care.
