I needed to take my car over for service, oil change, state safety inspection, as well as a general once over. It's been sitting in the Driveway for over a year without being driven. My plan was to take it over to Curry's in Gainesville, VA - I've been reading and hearing good things about Curry's. So of course the battery is dead - but not a surprise given how long the car has been sitting. So I called AAA - they had someone over within 45 minutes to give me a jump. Guy from Eddies Towing came over, used one of those portable devices to jump me and I was set. I let the car idle for a few minutes to help charge the battery. I started to drive over to Curry's - got about half way there - and stupid me decides that I should probably be driving with my headlights on. So I turn them on. That causes the car to shut down immediately and of course it won't start up again. I call AAA back and explain the situation - they decide to tow me the rest of the way - so the same guy is sent back from Eddies (I waited about 40 minutes - he was out on another call). Guy gets my car up on the truck and it's off to Curry's we go. Great service! read more

Brandon and the Team at The Plains Service Center have been our "go-to" auto repair shop for over the last several years and we couldn't have been taken care of. They are considerate, caring, and extremely knowledgeable. They have been trustworthy and very accommodating in every way. This is THE place to get your car/truck repaired in area. The people who run this place are talented, honest, and overall very solid people. They have a nice and clean waiting area with coffee, drinks, and sometimes cookies. They won't start fixing your car and ordering parts without speaking with you and informing you of the costs. Definitely get reservations so you can get your car serviced quickly, they are popular and have a lot of business. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

I read about them in the local paper and even though I've always taken my vehicles to the dealer, I decided to give them a try. They were polite, capable, and did a great job on my Durango. A few weeks ago I planned a weekend for me and my daughter and it seems like the plains service center was the only shining moment in a sea of unfortunate events. We were headed up to Baltimore to see a performance of Showboat, her favorite musical but we were running late after I lost my keys in the parking lot when we stopped at the stables to "touch the ponies". We were headed up 66 when my car began to smoke. I am not from the area so I quickly googled the nearest shop and they were only open for another 30 minutes but I had to try. The car limped its way to the plains service center and when we got there we spoke to Brandon. We explained our situation and he was incredibly kind to squeeze us in last minute to do the repairs. The price was extremely reasonable and the work top notch. read more

Fantastic. Where have The Plains Service Center and Brandon been all my driving life?! I am thrilled to find a knowledgeable, common sense, and well-priced station. I was knew to the area but Brandon treated me like I had been a customer for years. Save me with a new/used vehicle I purchased and in a couple of visits probably saved me from future thousands (at no cost to me). We will only take our vehicles to The Plains. For the Record Eddies Towing is Excellent, TPSC is NOT. I am writing to formally complain about the business practices of The Plains Service Center, Inc. in The Plains, Virginia. I feel that the treatment was both unprofessional and discourteous, and their business practice of The Plains Service Center Inc. were dishonest and unlawful according to the Uniform Commercial Code of the United States with specific regard to the implied warranty of merchantability. The facts of the matter are listed for your review: Our 2002 Ford Explorer was towed to The Plains Service Center Inc. with a broken column shifter. We asked the Plains Service Center to repair the broken column shifter. There were no other material defects with column or any other parts in the steering wheel, other than the column shifter. The Plains Service Center Inc, ordered a new steering column, reportedly because the column shifter is a non-repairable part. The steering column was replaced along with the steering wheel. The car was released after we paid $690 dollars. After a period of time it became apparent that components on the replaced steering wheel, including the horn, airbag, and cruise control did not work. We brought the car back to the service station, and were informed that the replaced steering wheel had a bad clock spring and it would need to be replaced at our cost. We were told that the Plains Service Center inc. had scrapped our old steering column and working steering wheel and therefore they did not have appropriate clock spring available and we would have to pay for a replacement. We found this to be illogical,as we already paid for a part we were told was in working order when the car was released. We decided to bring our truck to a reputable mechanic for a second opinion. Upon extensive research, the owner of Classic Automotive of Manassas, Virginia informed us that The Plains Service center Inc. had installed an incorrect part, that our clock spring could not have worked n anyway, and that the clock spring, column, and steering wheel should be replaced because, as part of the supplemental restraint system, the current installation was unsafe and not as designed by Ford Motor Corporation. Upon follow-up discussion with the Plains Service Center Inc., it was clearly established that they would not replace the part with the appropriate part and but that they would install the clock spring appropriate for the replaced steering column at no cost to us. The Car was brought back to The Plains Service Center Inc., where a clock spring which was suited for they refused to release the truck without a payment of 66...dollars for the clock spring part. After brief argument it became clear the only way to take possession of the car was to pay for the part. In summary, the Plains Service Center Inc, replaced our broken steering column with a column with a column produced for a later model Ford Explorer, our perfectly good, working steering wheel and it's components with a non-working steering wheel which was not designed to be installed in our model truck as designed by Ford Motor Company. They refused to refund our money, which would allow us to have it repaired properly. They failed to abide by the implied warranty of merchantability for the steering wheel and clock spring they sold us that was paid paid for after the initial repair. In short I can't think of a single reason to suggest to anyone that this place deserves their business. read more

The honesty is amazing . Many times they have TALKED ME OUT of getting work done on my Subaru ,as not being needed . They do an oil change practically cheaper than I can do it myself. Seriously , me and my family taken our cars there for years because of the honesty and low charges . The problem is that everyone and their uncle takes their vehicles there because of this , so its definitely best to call them first . Todd H. read more
