We've normally had very good service from Warrenton Auto... but today was a big disappointment. I had booked an appointment two weeks ago, with today being the first available slot available. I needed three very small things done, and told them that, since I had no one to drive me home, I would be waiting on the work to be done. I got there at the appointment time (2:00pm)... and waited THREE HOURS for them to finish. They couldn't even do one of the things (they have to order a part), so the two remaining small things took three hours, apparently. The waiting area was FREEZING cold, so I sat there shivering for all three hours, with no one bothering to check on me, offer me a coffee.... etc. A very unpleasant way for me to spend my afternoon. My 2008 Lexus Rx passed Va state inspection last August with a broken right, rear reflective light. A police officer told me that the still broken light is a nighttime driving safety issue. This shop was recommended by our insurance carrier as 'Preferred'. In hindsight, I do not know how or why it is termed that way. I went with them mainly because I wanted the least involvement with the insurance claim aspect - and I figured that our insurance company MUST no best. The front-end repairs to our vehicle involved several sensors, from bumper, to wheel, to brakes, to headlights, to ... the list goes on. But - this shop was supposed to know it all. I live quite a distance away and had to recruit a coworker to drop me off from my area so that I could pick up this vehicle which was 'ready'. I settled up, got into the vehicle awaiting and drove off. Within no more than two miles after getting on the interstate to drive east toward Alexandria, the dashboard started putting on a light show. Side view mirror blind spot lights when on and off like turn signals. Headlight hi-beam indicator on dashboard illuminated off and on. This vehicle was not repaired completely and was brought to a subsequent shop where it was described as a complete mess. Not good! read more

I was rear ended on 66 by a two car pile up. The estimator temporarily fixed my cameras so, I could continue to drive it until it was time for them to fix my SUV. They handled everything with USAA. The estimate ended up being higher, but everything was fully explained. They left me a message regarding every step. I got my truck back 2 days quicker than they estimated. Communications throughout the process was superb, work was done amazingly quickly (got my car back two days sooner than expected), they worked seamlessly with USAA, and explained the nicely itemized final bill to me in detail when I picked my car up. Honest, professional and reliable.. (and did I mention - Honest!!) Would make this six stars if possible. Have had several repairs done here..both body work and mechanical... ..alway satisfactory but the most recent is demands documenting.. The assessor, Britany, is knowledgable and competent, she always looks for after market parts to hold down cost In the most recent experience a repair was in progress but the mechanic called me back to point out some problems that made the repair I was there for a questionable investment because my vehicle had many other problems that may well limit it's life expectancy..I knew about some but after his review, I opted not to have the repair done .. as the vehicle is safe for the current use .. but is probably not worth the investment to make it reliable (and inspection worthy) ..I was impressed with the bottom line feedback and careful attention to the "big picture" that the mechanic and Britany displayed. They could have easily made the repair and then pointed out the other work needed or just said nothing. I would never go anywhere else for a repair. read more

No doubt they are friendly folks. I'm sure they still do fine with inspections, oil changes, and brake jobs but don't hold your breath if you are trying to keep an older car on the road. It used to be my "go to" shop for mechanical repairs that were above my ability or time to complete. I have even left a positive review in the past. However, my 04 BMW was there twice to fix a coolant leak and yet it continued to leak out. When speaking with them about bringing it back in, they started guessing at what they could change out next and wrongly guessed the water pump. When I did get the time to look at it myself, it took me 10 minutes to find the issue and 25 minutes to replace the correct part(that was attached to one they replaced) for a whopping $40. In speaking with someone on the phone about my repairs, I have been told twice, once on my 03 Pontiac GTP and once on my 04 BMW Z4, "well, that (fill in the blank issue) is what I get with these old cars" which made me feel as if they didn't really care to help. They all but talked me out of repairing my 03 Grand Prix because the quote was so outlandishly high. When I didn't balk at the price, they reiterated several times that it could go even higher once they got into it and it was more than the car was worth. It seemed to me that they were discouraging me from asking them to do the work. By the way, the work I needed and more was done elsewhere for 1/2 of their estimate. read more

Notice water coming in the inside back window of our 2012 dodge3500 yesterday .. called and spoke with Danny and he was pretty sure he knew what it was... seal around the 3rd back up light ... had time at 2:00 today to fit it in. I took an extended lunch, brought it in... Danny and Andrew came up as I was pulling in took it back fixed the seal and replaced a light bulb that was out and I was on my way within my lunch... no fuss no making it about anything else... you guys are awesome and as always we are super pleased read more

Don't get me wrong, they do good work on your car; however I had brought my car 2003 Honda Element in for a diagnosis, the problem was related to a part (the V tech pressure switch). I had gotten that replaced at a different auto shop not long ago & the part was still under warranty from the auto shop that had installed the part previously. However in the diagnosis, the technician at Warrenton auto turned the indicator light off before the problem was fixed & because the light was off the other shop refused to honor the warranty. I think it is highly unprofessional to make a problem look like it is fixed when it is not & I'm positive they turned the light off so the other auto shop would not honor the warranty, I hoping I would get frustrated & come back to them for the work. The other shop (where I had a part under warranty) said that "if the light was still on we would replace it," but Warrenton auto turned the light off. So I'm out about $500 because someone turned a indicator light off. I under stand this happed back in the summer 2017 & it's 2018 now, but I didn't have a yelp back then; I do now & I'm letting other consumers know, Warrenton auto MAY PROBABLY try to void warranties you may have other places. They did it to me; that is a fact, not an opinion. read more

Not only was my vehicle repaired FOUR DAYS prior to my insurance company's estimate and detailed so well that it looks like a brand new car, the customer service was just beyond amazing! Awesome service. My family has had body work done on several cars (deer, accident's, parking garage scrapes, etc.) and every job was done expertly, on time and the car looked new. Because of the great work they do, they are busy and we just needed to plan ahead for the scheduling. They've also done outstanding mechanical repairs on our old Jeep and resolved a rear differential problem that a dealer had not fixed despite several visits with bills much higher than Warrenton Auto Services'. I had an engine light on for awhile. When I took it to my regular auto shop, they ran the code and said it was a small leak - a very small leak, and I could let it slide for awhile. Eight months later, when the car started showing symptoms, I decided to take it in - but my favorite mechanic (that took forever to find) was retiring! I reached out on Facebook and was given Warrenton Auto Service. Ok, so my car uses oil. I often have to refill it in between oil changes. I get a notification when that happens. About two weeks prior, I had refilled it for the second time. I knew that I was probably due for an oil change, but I had to get my windshield replaced, which meant my little mileage sticker was gone and I was using that as my reminder. So at the counter, I asked for an oil change, too, since I was more than likely overdue. The day wore on an I didn't hear anything back, even though I had a morning appointment. I was relying on my father for a ride and eventually, he had to be other places. At 2 I called and asked about my car - it hadn't been brought back yet. I explained that I planned around a morning appointment and that I would be without a way to get there to pick it up. They offered to have someone pick me up. I was thankful for that. Someone came out to my house and drove me into town to get my car. Upon pickup, they'd only charged me for an oil change. The mechanic told me my car was bone dry and that's why I was having problems, and between him and the receptionist, I felt scolded for going past my due date. (Though no notification had gone off indicating a low oil level, as it would normally, and I NEVER go through a quart of oil that quickly.) Before I got home, the engine light came on again and it began having the same symptoms as before. I chalked it up to them being backlogged, since they came highly recommended - maybe it was easier to clear the alarm and do a quick oil change than actually read the codes? (I later found out that I had a valve stuck open, which was visible - just had to have someone take the time to look for it.) It was a waste of time for me. Even though the employee that gave me a ride was great, I'm not going to risk further frustration by returning there. read more

My A/C started dropping out intermittently last Fall and my regular repair shop was very busy and I couldn't get an appointment for over a week. I took a friends suggestion and brought it here after looking at their reviews. They did a dye test to see if there was a leak and found no leak. The mechanic who looked at the car said if the problem persisted, to bring it back. That cost me $180.00. I think they topped off the freon as well. Didn't end up using A/C any more that Fall/Winter, but as soon as it got warm out this spring, the same intermitant problem came back. I explained what was going on and that the mechanic had told me to bring it back if it did. I left it for a couple of days and they told me they could not ID the issue. So I brought the car home and sure enough, the A/C would drop out on occasion and leave me with no A/C until I turned it off and restarted 10 minutes later, when it would be fine for awhile. I brought it back again and this time they told me that I needed a new compressor and it would be $1300,00. No mention of the $180.00 already invested with nothing to show for it. I took it to my regular place and dropped it off and explained to the owner what I was experiencing with the A/C. He immediately, said that sounds like the compressors clutch as it's intermittent. This was w/o looking at the car. The mechanic looked at the car later and confirmed the clutch was bad and the compressor would have to be replaced. For $800.00. Admittedly this was an intermittent problem, and the office staff was super sweet, and very good and accommodating, but in the end I spent $$ for no solution and ended up leaving the car there for a couple of days on three different occasions prior to them finding the issue. read more
