Last Saturday, there was a crazy tangled mop of hair on my head that had not been cut since before COVID was a thing (over 2 years). One of my best friends was getting married in Anaheim, and I thought to myself, I should probably get a haircut to look presentable for his pictures. The night before the wedding, I walked into The Plaza Salon because it was right next door to the venue, and there, I met Fawzeya. I asked her a million questions because I had no idea what type of cut I needed. She told me she could fit me into her schedule 2 hours before pictures. Nervously, I confirmed. When I arrived 15 minutes late (my fault), Fawzeya was nothing but super friendly and professional. She asked me how I wanted my cut, and I said "you're the pro, just make me look good please". I'm not sure of the exact number of years of experience she told me she has, but I think she told me 42 years, she must've started when she was an infant. I'm so glad that she was able to fit me into her schedule because the wedding photos were beautiful, my hair feels great, and everyone is still telling me how amazing it looks! I live in San Jose so the salon, and Fawzeya are 6 hours away in Anaheim, but next time I'm in southern California, I will surely make an appointment with Fawzeya. Thanks again! read more

I'm going to have to change my review on this place. Veronica was my go to girl for 5 years. I dealt with her constantly changing times and canceling. For example, If I had an appointment on Friday at noon she would text and change it to 3pm or 5pm. This happened often. One time, I over booked appointments and I texted her if we could change the noon to 2? She texted back and stated, "I can't do it. Let's do it next week?" WOW, I waited a whole week to get my haircut. I dealt with her changing times and the one time I do it, she can't do it. Recently, I had an appointment for 5:30pm on a Tuesday. She texted me Monday night at almost 9pm and canceled stating, "Maybe next week?" It has now been 2 weeks and she is ignoring my texts and never contacted me for the haircut. I will take my $190.00 for a short haircut and color somewhere else to a place with someone that is professional. read more

I just luv The Plaza Salon! I've been coming to Fawzeya for over 10 years and I not only luv her as my stylist....I also luv her as a dear friend! I get compliments on my hairstyle ALL THE TIME! She also has good sense when it comes to hair color. I usually get the same color, but every now and then, I'll get a crazy idea to add more red or highlights....All I need to do is tell fawz my idea and she does her magic! And she's real good about telling me honestly what works and won't work! I have TREMENDOUS trust in her. I don't kid when I say she does her magic with my hair. I was looking for an Aveda salon on yelp a few months ago when i wanted to go from blonde back to my natural brunette. The Plaza Salon had great reviews so I decided to give it a try. I gave the salon a call, and Jenny was able to fit me in the very next day. Since that first dye and cut I've gone back to her for 2 colors and cuts. Most recently I wanted to try out ombre/balayage. When I talked with Jenny about it, she was very honest with what would work with my hair and what wouldn't. I have very fine hair that gets easily damaged, so she erred on the side of caution to make sure my hair came out healthy and refreshed. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out - The ends are a bit later and the fade is incredibly natural, but most importantly it's so full and healthy! Ladies with fine hair, Jenny is your girl! I'm sure you can relate to the fear of your hair dresser loading down your hair with product or taking out the thinning shears. It's been over a year, and I was long over due for a hair cut and style - starting back up in grad school I hadn't made it in. I saw Veronica again because she did such an amazing job the first time I came to Plaza Salon. Plus my long, thick, frizzy hair tends to be a bit more on the difficult side and she handles it easily. I wanted to do a layered cut and balayage style like before but slightly different coloring. I showed her an image I took off Pinterest and was AMAZED at the results! SHE NAILED IT RIGHT ON! Balayage hair is extremely difficult to master. I was super impressed the first time, and Veronica managed to take my hair to another new level yet again! Veronica has been coloring my roots and cutting my hair for about two years now. She always does a great job, just wish I could afford to see her more often (roots grow fast). Like most skilled, experienced stylists, she will cost you. Don't get me wrong, there are far more expensive salons in OC, this one is probably middle-of-the-road in pricing. Veronica is very sweet and nice to talk to, and she listens to what you want. She is very busy and usually does two clients at once, so expect to spend several hours. Many of the Aveda products help color-damaged hair like mine, especially Damage Remedy and Dry Remedy leave-in products, but again, a bit expensive. Park behind the salon if you can find a space, otherwise you will have to street park. read more

I came here for the first time today and I had an amazing experience! Jenny did my haircut and I walked out loving it! Truth be told, I have never felt so welcomed anywhere, but with her, I felt at home:). She literally was sweet and took her time, unlike anyone else that I've been too. She explained exactly what she was doing as she went along, and she referred back to the pictures that I showed her of the haircut that I wanted, which was an edgy pixie cut:). I also asked about nother picture for how I wanted my bangs to look, and, unlike most who just do it even though they know it wont look good, she was fully honest and explained why it wouldn't go with the cut that I had chosen. I absolutely love coming here! I have been getting my hair cut by Veronica since last August and I just love her! A friend told me to find an Aveda Concept Salon, so I was thrilled to find The Plaza Salon conveniently located in downtown Orange. I've now been a regular of Veronica's for quite a while now. She is a fantastic hair stylist and always has great ideas for my hair. Not only does she color my hair beautifully but I love her cuts and styling techniques. I'm also obsessed with a smoothing product she uses on my hair that helps control the frizz for weeks. Not only is she a hair magician, but Veronica is awesome and so fun to chat and laugh with. I couldn't be happier with the work Jennifer has done with my hair in the year I've been coming to see her. Before I started coming to see her, I had dandruff and damaged hair from years of using box dye and flat ironing every single day. Not only did she transform my hair into a work of art, she gave me tips to help make it the healthiest it is has ever been. When I come in, we first discuss what I think I would like and any suggestions she may have to offer. Then we decide together what is the best option and she makes sure I am happy with my decision. Since I am a red head, I constantly worry about what shade of color will look good on me. Jenny is a phenomenal colorist and mixes a unique blend each time that I always adore. The cut I receive each time varies but she shapes my bangs perfectly each time so that I dont have to come back too often. Not only does she do a great job with my hair, she also makes sure I am comfortable by offering refreshments and asking about my life. Disappointed :(... I went in for airbrush makeup and an updo. The girls were all super sweet and professional... Especially my stylist, she was such a doll. My makeup, however, provided barely any coverage to some problem areas, the bronzer on my cheeks was very muddled, barely any mascara applied (no false lashes either... which for $65 for makeup, I would except falsies as an option), eye shadow that came out looking like a job half finished, and slightly crooked lip liner. :( Long story short, I literally had to redo my makeup before my event. Bummer. My hair turned out alright... nothing to show off unfortunately...not as polished looking in the front as I would've hoped. The back looks pretty, but again, for the price, I excepted more of a wow factor. Also, the wine is a nice touch.... Except the red wine was super cold and obviously pretty cheap stuff. Maybe keep it out of the fridge :) All in all I won't be back, but I'm glad some gals enjoy it here. It was worth a shot! read more

I am SO thrilled to have found this great salon near our new home. Reasons the Plaza Salon has made me happy: 1) THE HAIR: Since I moved to Orange, Shaina has been doing my hair and my eyebrows. She has been amazing. She is very easy to talk to and is always able to cut my hair to that perfect length: not too short, not too long. 2) THE PRICE: I have been going to only Aveda salons for about 10 years. The eyebrows seem to be the same price everywhere. But, this salon is significantly more affordable for hair than the one in South Coast Plaza. 3) THE LOCATION: I love downtown Orange. Great salon in a cute part of Orange! I went there for the first time yesterday and Wendy did my color and trim. She's great, and honestly Wendy has done my color and trim for a couple years now, and I followed her when she changed salons. Wendy is always very attentive and specific when asking about hair color and will get any kind of picture image to help if the client is unsure how to articulate what they want. She is dynamic when I come in and not really sure what I may want to add to my color, and puts in some low lights and highlights to add dimension to my hair! I have been going to this salon for well over 7 years now. Tracy, the new owner and my stylist, is absolutely fantastic and CONSTANTLY strives to go the extra mile to accommodate her clients' needs. I have sought many changes with my hair over the years and Tracy was always extremely helpful in pointing out the pros and cons of anything I wanted to do with my hair to ensure it was a good choice. Upkeep is a huge concern when deciding on a new hairstyle so these discussions are invaluable. Joann is another stylist there that I have used and she is also absolutely excellent! These gals are simply masters of their craft and have done everything from cutting my hair ultra short, to keeping it well groomed while growing it back out, to highlighting/weaving it, and changing my color completely SEVERAL times over the years. Each and every time the contemplated changes were thoroughly discussed. My sister even drives over 60 miles just to visit this particular salon because it is such a wonderful experience. I love coming here! My stylist recently transferred here and I hope she stays. Its got this really cool vintage classy feel, which is right up my alley. Jenny has been my stylist for 3 years so far. I'll drive an hour sometimes to come to her. She's truly fantastic. I've never had someone really tend to my needs. Other stylist use to cut my hair and it would look nice, but once I would get home it wouldn't look that great. Oh, and other stylists, you say only one inch and they cut off two! Jenny always asks me what I would like, what kind of maintenance, etc.. She is super sweet, gives you treats, easy to talk to, and gives great recommendations (especially if you're fickle). She always gives me a killer cuts that I can maintain, which is important to me. She always gives great head massages when she washes my hair(weird, but it feels good) and I always love the way she styles my hair when I leave. We always do some nice highlight/lowlight for summer and tone down for winter. Oh, did I mention she only uses Aveda products. My hair seems to take and the color seems to last longer with Aveda. I don't know why.. Little more pricey, but worth it. So, if you're a comfort bee like me. I definitely recommend her. read more

Went to this salon for the second time and I am absolutely in love! Veronica did my hair and did a stellar job. I did not completely even know what I wanted when I came in except that I wanted to chop off most of my hair. She knew exactly what to do and my hair turned out great. In addition, she offered to do my boyfriend's hair since he was waiting for me the whole time, and his hair turned out the best he has ever had it. He plans on returning to Veronica again. I have been a tried and true redhead for 7 years. The thing is that sometime over the last 7 years a lot of grey was creeping in, making the grow out between coloring a little awkward. If you have any experience with redheadedness, you know the fading between coloring is already awkward so adding brown and grey roots to the mix was not a good look. It was time for a change. A change I mulled over for months on end, a change I embarked on with more than a little trepidation, a change that I finally, FINALLY, got the courage to make and armed with nothing but a Pinterest picture took to a hair stylist (who shall remain nameless) who completely missed the mark. I wanted sombre, I wanted balayage, I wanted Pinterest hair! What I got was stripey bangs and horrific brassy yellow chunky highlights that looked like a seagull pooped on my head. Fast forward to 2 weeks and many coconut oil treatments later. I made an appointment for a color correction with Veronica at the Plaza Salon. She saved me!She is my savior! My hair Messiah! Seriously. She toned down the brassiness of the highlights, she redid my roots so that I have the sombre/balayage look I was going for, she gave me a deep conditioning treatment.
