Simple order; hot dog with sauerkraut and mustard. When asked if I wanted mayo and ketchup, replied no, only mustard. A 25 minute wait for the most unappealing hotdog. Did not realize until we were well down the road. Shame as it seems to be a hot spot in town when we passed it everyday while staying in this area a week. My favorite frosty in northern California. Cute retro design, extensive menu, delicious food, and really nice customer service. The lady (should have got her name!) even gave our dog a free mini-ice cream cone. Also, nice patio seating in the back with a little creek running through it. I stopped at this place, while up in the area on business. You can't expect 5 star cloth napkin service and food at a greasy spoon establishment and so I am basing this review on other like places in other like rural communities. The menu offers a very interesting and delicious assortment of items to choose from. The food was delicious and freshly prepared to order, but it did take a bit of time which is surprising as these type of establishments are usually a bit more efficient. I eat at this restaurant every so often, and half of the time it's good and nothing is wrong with it, but the other half of the time they get my order completely wrong, so I'm a very picky eater and only eat burgers with NOTHING on them ( just meat cheese and bun) but when I tell them that a lot of the time they still put on lettuce and pickles, and it's not really an occasional thing, it just kinda puts me in a bad mood ( and compared to the other restaurants in Quincy it's a little lackluster) read more

I worked at the a Polka Dot many years ago, it's a shame that the current owners don't seem to pay as much attention to customer service as the McElroy's did for so long. There is never enough help at the counter, and even if there is more than one person working often times the second one doesn't even acknowledge the long line of customers. Besides the lousy service the food does not in any way match up to the ridiculously high prices. If you want a great burger with fries and a drink, go to Sweet Lorraine's where two people can have a wonderful lunch for much less than the Polka Dot and the service...full table service...is MUCH friendlier than the "Dot". read more

The Polka Dot is often our first stop whenever we visit Quincy. The food is always tasty and the ice cream is great. It might take 10-15 minutes to get your food order but it's usually worth it. The outdoor eating area is very quaint, but close to the highway. I recommend it. read more

I stopped in during a hot, long-distance bike trip for an afternoon ice cream break. My girlfriend and I ordered large peach and chocolate milkshakes and a large boat of fries. The outdoor seating here is the kind of outdoor seating that other burger joints could only dream of. The grassy lot just next to The Polka Dot has ample tree cover, many tables with umbrellas, and a tiny stream with a bridge. The fries were delicious and the shakes were of outstanding quality. The peach shake was unique and memorable. I don't know when I'll find myself in Quincy again but, when I do, I'll definitely hit this place up. read more

I've been to the polka dot at least 7 or 8 times and the last time which was in July was pretty bad. The food is great but the service wasn't. They only had 1 person taking orders and 1 person cooking so it took about a half hour to get our food. They have new management now and I think it was better before. I'll admit it- I spent a lot of time at the Polka Dot when I lived in Quincy. The menu is pretty impressive. I love the Western Burger. It was nice to have a burger and fries place in town. OMG! This place is amazing. I ordered the Rancher Burger (cheese, bacon, onion rings) and it was definitely the highlight of the meal. The combination of all the ingredients made for an especially savory burger. Even the bun was great. I also got curly fries which were just as delicious. They were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of seasoning, not over-powering and not too light. The service was pretty good, food was prepared in a timely manner, and there's even a nice, shady wait area off to the side with benches to sit. Just beware of all the flies. read more

Hands down, my favorite place to go for everything. I think they should stay open basically year round or at least longer than they do now. And I think that they should bring back the flavored ice cream like blue goo or butterscotch because I used to get that every time and now I don't even have the option!! That was my favorite part of the year was getting blue goo, and now I can't:( I like the chicken delight and I recommend getting that with an Oreo or vanilla milkshake. I like and dislike the Polka Dot. First, the location is great. It's on the main strip, but the eating areas are comfy and shaded by trees. There's always a nice cool breeze in the summer and it's great to let your kids run around in the grass and stream. It's a great stop on a long journey and it's a great place to walk to and relax when you want a snack or ice cream with your kids. The negative feedback I have is that the menu is varied, but there's nothing good that's even remotely good for you to eat. Fried or breaded food and lots of sweet treats. Then there's the price. I know it's similar to other burger stands, but i guess I don't see the reason to spend so much money on a meal i really don't want to feed my kids anyway. Shakes and ice cream are awesome. The down side is the menu is continually going up in price, i love the ranchers burger, and they have a decent varieties of foods as well.
