The Porklet The name alone inspires curiosity. When I visited them I met Keon, the owner. This business is a few months old but they're busy! The spot is well-lit and clean. The dishes are named just enough to make me giggle. There's pork, chicken wings, and udon on the menu. Something to go back to try is their udon. What I sampled: 1. The Cheeselet- limited daily availability. Mozzarella cheese wrapped in a pork loin cutlet. It comes with the same side as the chiclet below plus the mac salad. 2. The Chicklet- chicken breast cutlet. Included sides are miso soup, cabbage salad, pickles, and the Porklet sauce. 3. The Tornado Fried rice- spam and bacon. Mix them all in there and chow! 4. Jumbo Wings in cheesy dust ( cheddar) and black and white (bbq.) So, my fave is the Tornado Fried Rice. It's tasty and the name describes the dish well. Cute! Oh my god this place is amazing! They have the best prison and food in Denver hands down! My husband and I went and I took my girlfriend the very next day. Both times the order was the same. Their pork let katsu which comes with an amazing cabbage salad that has a poppy seed dressing. That cabbage salad on top of the pork. Lip was amazing. It also comes with really delicious and tender macaroni salad, miso soup and white rice. Everything was amazing. I didn't try the white rice because who needs white rice when you have all that?! Their tornado fried rice is the best! It comes freshly fried and then covered or dressed if you will with a scrambled egg served to look like a tornado. It's a little moist but cooks pretty well when it's resting. On top of the hot fried rice. You can pick your pieces of scrambled egg proportions with your fried rice. There's a barbecue gravy around it which I did not care for. But a lot of people love it! There's not a lot of seating so beware. We were recommended this place by locals when we asked for places to eat while visiting in Colorado. When we entered this place we were warmly greeted . Indecisive we asked what our server would get and she recommended the garlic bomb wings and creamy buffalo and had also ordered the tornado fried rice. We decided to dine in and the inside of the restaurant was clean and the table layout was spacious. The food was a 10/10 the wings were crispy and the sauces were delicious. As for the tornado fried rice it was so delicious but the star was the gravy that came with it. Despite the food being so delicious the real reason I would come back would be because of the services. Our server was so nice she would check up on us to make sure everything was enjoyable and her warm demeanor made the atmosphere seem almost homely . Wow. This place is pretty good. First time in Aurora and I wanted a local spot to try. I was looking at Yelp and the tornado fried rice drew me in. I ordered bacon and spam on mine and I also got a chicklet burrito. It was a lot of food and I had to take the burrito to go. The food was great and so was the service. The restaurant also had a very homey vibe and the folks there were friendly. This is for sure going in my rotation for when I travel up here next time. I gotta try the other things in the menu. Modern, casual, asian cafes are difficult to find in Denver so The Porklet is an awesome find! Their menu is Japanese-Korean fusion with their signature dishes being the Korean style fried chicken and Japanese style katsu plates. The cafe is small, clean, and modern. There is a kiosk that you order from so it is pretty much self-service. I tried the tornado fried rice, Korean sweet chili fried chicken, and the porklet katsu. - The tornado fried rice was good-- the egg is very well cooked. I was a little surprised that the brown sauce came out cold though and I think it would've been a lot better if it was warm! - The Korean sweet chili fried chicken is awesome! It is crisp and flavorful and the wings are pretty big! - The katsu dish comes with miso soup, rice, a side cabbage salad, macaroni salad, porklet sauce, and pickles. The kastu is good with a nice light batter but, in my opinion, could be better with more seasoning. The katsu comes with the porklet sauce which is alright. Its more of a peanut sauce. The bad: The Porklet is between my house and the gym, dooming whatever progress I may make this winter. The good: Everything so far! I can't wait to try the entire menu. The chicken wings were amazing- I love spicy, so they could have been hotter but they were still amazing and a reasonable price ($12) for the size of 6 wings (I was actually given 7- bonus!). The porklet ($17) was fantastic. As other reviewers have noted, there are two large cutlets with sides and a really good sauce. Next time I will also order the larger side of mac salad. Absolutely delicious every time. Love the honey butter fried chicken the most but the spicy sweet Korean wings are also good. WOW. Really delicious Korean food here! Presentation and packaging are on point too. The cream dduk bokki / tteokbokki with sausage was so flavorful and had a perfect spicy kick to it. The rice cakes The donkatsu was really juicy with an excellent crunchy exterior, and you get a large portion! You order at the counter or kiosk and seat yourself or else take it to go. As someone who's eaten at hundreds of ramen shops and dozens of tonkatsu shops in Japan and in the US, I can't say I'm impressed with the ramen in Denver. But the tonkatsu...that's a different story because The Pork・Let is really good. The tonkatsu is prepared similar to the best shops in Tokyo, using two hand-breaded, panko-coated, pork cutlets that give a light and juicy flavor. This is in contrast to the usual frozen "tonkatsu" one usually encounters that are breaded with tightly packed flour and cornmeal, frozen, and then fried. Other parts of the meal were pretty good, such as the miso soup and the inclusion of finely shreded cabbage. This is a tonkatsu meal that is comparable to those in the $30-40 range in Tokyo. There are minor quibbles here and there: the cutlets could be a touch thicker to be among the best I had in Japan; the miso soup could've had additional ingredients like seaweed and tofu; I did not care for the heavy and sweet black sesame salad dressing on the cabbage, instead preferring the light oil-vinegar dressing that I had at Narikura in Tokyo. That said, this is an impressive achievement of making tonkatsu in the US that is worthy and enjoyable to eat. It may well be the best tonkatsu I've had stateside. I hope The Pork・Let keeps up the good work and I'm looking forward to my next visit to Denver already. read more

Very tasty food, but I have a few caveats. Yelp has this categorized as Japanese, but this not strictly Japanese, but is more of a Korean/Japanese fusion. Also note that this is a fast casual place, you place your order at the counter then they deliver it to your table. As long as you are ok with it being non-traditional, then you are in for a treat. The Tonkatsu (pork cutlet) was very, very good. It was juicy, light, and crispy. The sauce with it was different than I'm used to, but was very good. The gentleman at the table next to mine had the Tornado fried rice. It looked excellent and he said it was very good. The wings are also supposed to be excellent as well, but I haven't had either. Driving around Aurora, it is easy to find good Korean food. With plenty options to choose from, it is also easy to get overwhelmed. That in turn tends to make me indecisive, which in turn makes me more "hangry". On one of these days that we were driving around to suppress my hangriness, we stumbled across this little gem. This place is easy to miss because it is small and sandwiched between to larger restaurants ( Mr. Kim and Aki Hotpot). Where they lack in size, they make up in delicious food. I have yet to try everything on their menu but that's just a reason for me to keep coming back. What I say is that I highly recommend their crispy wings and their tornado fried rice. The wings are so damn juicy on the inside but light and crispy on the outside. It comes with a sweet dipping sauce but I never use it. Chase that crispy goodness with the tornado fried rice and you have yourself a party in your mouth! The tornado fried rice is an explosion of goodness on its own but pairing it with the wings is something your mouth will get addicted to quick. The fried rice is topped with semi runny egg twisted to look like a tornado. Looks raw but trust me, it is cooked to perfection. The mound is surrounded by this gravy type sauce. Gravy is damn good, but pro tip: it is even better when you dip the chicken in it. The workers there only compliment the place. They get the food out pretty quick and I have yet been there to see a dirty dining area. You have a choice of ordering from a kiosk, or order direct from one of the employees there. I have tried both ways and both my orders were perfect. You can tell they take pride in their cooking because I sometimes catch them looking at customer's reaction to ensure that they are happy. They have probably caught me doing the happy dance while I eat several times. This is a small restaurant so there are maybe 10 tables to sit in. But the tables are always occupied when I am there. So I suspect it isn't an easy task for 1, maybe 2 people to maintain them. I know that there are several Korean fried chicken spots ion the Aurora area, but what sets this apart from most of the chicken places is that they are consistent with their product. All the times I have eaten here, I feel like the dishes tasted just as great as every other time I have dined here. You also have a different variety of dishes that you may not get from other KFC spots. You have a burrito, sandwich, and bowls options. And what also stands out is the price. The Porklet is cheaper than the other KFC's, but the quality tastes like it should be more. read more

Pork cutlet, tonkatsu in Japanese and donkkaseu in Korean is fried pork chop breaded with panko. It is similar to but not exactly schnitzel because the pork is not pounded thin. The Pork.Let serves Korean style cutlets. They were cooked to order, very crispy and came in two chops cut into 4 or 5 strips each. The sauce tasted like it was made from fermented bean paste, less sweet and vinegary than the Japanese tonkatsu sauce. One of the two sides was a macaroni salad which was okay. There were a few slices of pickled cucumber, but kimchi or pickled daicon would seem more appropriate. Overall, the cutlets were good and worth a return trip. Note the restaurant is self served and customers are expected to bus their own table after eating so I would suggest to limit the tip when you pay upfront. read more

Loved the presentation of each dish and the quality of the skills to create each item. I had a nice lunch on a Friday and when we arrived the restaurant was empty. However as we were leaving the tables began to fill up. Lots of indoor seating in the fast causal restaurant with cute wall accents and decor. No outdoor dining options. Very simply and clean! There is a kiosk to order your meal but we ordered from the one front house staff person. We ordered the Tornado Fried Rice ($12.95), Cheesy Dust wings ($12), Cheeselet ($16.95) limited daily availability, and Porklet Sweet Potato sticks. Overall I enjoyed the meal but was not super impressed with some of the items. I loved the tender and crispy Porklet! It was perfectly battered and fried. I wasn't a fan of the signature sauce and would prefer a curry sauce or Bulldog tonkatsu type sauce. The signature sauce was more like an Italian marinara, tomato ish with a touch of oyster or Worcestershire like mix. I was not a fan. I did enjoy the cabbage side with the sesame dressing. I did not like the flavor of the Mac salad side. The other dishes were also served with a pineapple and sweet cheese sauces. I also would pass on these sauces. The sweet potato sticks were tasty but preferred them without the sauces. The cheesy dust wings were perfectly battered and fried. It was different and tasted good but prob would order another flavor the next time I visit. The Cheeselet was not impressive for $16.95 but I could see others enjoying the entree and cheesy pull. Not much chicken and mostly mozzarella. Also perfectly battered and fried! Also not a fan of the signature sauce it's served with. The tornado fried rice had a beautiful presentation and hoped it was like the Japanese Omurice I grew up with but it looked more beautiful in presentation than it tasted. Also the same served with the same signature sauce that I'd pass on if ordering again. The fried rice was tasty but felt like it was missing something like heat? Spice? Hot sauce? Pepper? I'm not sure. It was good but not the best I've had. The egg and omelette was perfection and definitely made by a chef with some skills. I did enjoy the spam and corn in the fried rice. The service is also not the greatest for the pricing. The staff person could be friendlier and up front should probably tell people when their food is ready. I didn't realize that you had to grab your own food from the counter. They definitely use quality ingredients but the prices do seem high for a fast causal spot that you have to buss your own dishes in dust bins near the trash. I totally understand wages and workforce challenges but it might be good to tell the customer the procedure after ordering and cleaning up after you're done dining. Overall I love certain entrees like the Porklet, wings and some elements of the signature Tornado Fried Rice like the omelette quality, but not all the dishes impress me to want to come back as a regular. I would still recommend checking it out but be prepared for the price and the unexpected flavors of their signature sauces. I go back-and-forth on my review of this place because the quality, presentation, portion size and the skill to create these dishes is definitely a four-star, but my experiences for my first time visit wasn't that impressive for the price and flavors of some dishes. My first time impression made today's lunch a 3 star experience with the service but with the hope of coming back to try other items on the menu. I definitely have mixed feelings about this place but definitely come and support it since they are still in the grand opening stages during a pandemic. read more

This place was extremely surprising. We were out getting groceries and decided to find a place for lunch. From the photos, it looked good and had a lot of positive things. Let me add to the positives. It was amazing!! The food was juicy, crispy , and so good. We had to wait a little bit for them to cook it, but I was worth the wait. The plus was I LOVEDDDDD the donkatsu(porklet). It was so crisp and a thick cut. I would seriously eat this once a week if I could. The presentation is nice. I didn't really like the cheeselet as I don't really think it is worth it's price. The cheese I wish it would be stretchy like how it is in Korea. The tornado fried rice was made beautifully and tasted delicious. The bell pepper though was a little too over powering for me. The creamy rice cake was delicious and the regular one definitely has a kick. I enjoyed the creamy one more and would get that again. Next time I will get the udon. Tried this place out after seeing it nearby, the cutlet grabbed my interest but the rice ended up being the what I ordered because if the presentation. Staff was quick to take my order and the place itself is tiny but still nicely organized and clean. The prices are kinda expensive but the portion that I got was pretty filling. The meal was pretty tasty and I wouldn't mind having it again, but if I go I have to try other items to get a feel for the place, especially the main item their names for the pork cutlet. Hawaiian cold mac and sesame side salad had tasty dressings. Pickles on point. Just as good as tonkatsu pork cutlet I've had in California and Hawaii. The egg on the fried rice was the perfectly cooked as in cooked through safely but still a little creamy and luscious. I got a cheeselet which came with 4 slices of chicken cutlet filled with cheese, side of salad, mac salad, miss soup, and rice. A pretty filling meal for $16.95 in my opinion. Now look, if you're reading this far you need to understand i like cheese a lot which means i have a natural bias towards this kind of food. If cheese is a "meh" thing for you than this place might not be the place for you. If you like cheese though and you like chicken cutlets then this is a pretty good place to try out. Hands down one of the best places in the Denver area. The porklet is always so crispy and flavorful. The sauces, cabbage, and macaroni salad also complement it so well. I highly suggest to dine-in since there is nothing like eating there fried food hot and fresh in house. They even put the porklet on a wire cooling rack to keep it nice and crispy for you. If you do go please do not sleep on there wings. They are as good if not better than the featured porklet. I have had just about everything on there menu and I would recomend it all.
