Probably the only bar in Villa Park. Decent spot, nice enough crowd. Is always busy the 5 or so times I've been here. Drinks are priced above average. $11 for a Tito's and soda water seems a little steep. I've also never been to a relatively "upscale" (not a dive, not Javier's) bar where the water pressure is turned down so low in the women's restroom sink, producing a dribble of water to wash one's hands with. All about conserving our natural resources but considering they serve mixed drinks in plastic, I don't think this is their main objective. read more

Came to see my friends band playing. Looked like a cool spot I would normally love to hit for happy hour. It was just SO crowded and over priced. I had to ask the 4th waitress that just walked by me and ignored me for service after 20 minutes of awkwardly sitting there. The girl relayed the message to another server who then went out of her way to continually check in on us and make it a good experience. Wings were good, nachos were nothing to write home about. Overall it was pretty okay. Stars for the waitress (was blonde and dressed up as a cat and on Friday night 10/27) and wings (?). This is our neighborhood bar and last night myself, husband and neighbors were treated so inappropriately it was literally embarrassing. It was only 12:30 and we were made uncomfortable (as well as the others in the bar) by the bartender, server and two gentlemen at the bar of which one gentleman was the supposed owner. The bartender and server stood in the corner chatting with the two gentlemen as they ease dropped our conversation. After 3 shouts from them of "Get the F out" my husband stood up and told them not to be such a "D" about it as we headed out and they came back with "Get F out then, this is the owner...your going to talk to him like that!?!" So yeah if the owner thinks it's appropriate business etiquette to tell paying customers at 12:40 when closing is 1am to get the F out then, this clearly is not your friendly neighborhood bar. As for being in Villa Park, these guys have zero manners. We are adults and parents that we're having a good time out, headed to our local bar for a few drinks, paid our bill and was treated with no respect from employees that basically make the majority of their pay off tips from people like us and a so called owner. I went for dinner with my in laws and it was good! I had the blta with salad, it was good and a lot of food. I took 1/2 home. My mother in law had the pot pie and it looked delicious, she had fruit with it and it was fresh and delicious. My husband and father in law like the fish and chips, but wanted to try the ribeye burger so they ordered both and split it. Fish and chips were great, the ribeye burger not so much. I've been here twice and both times no one has acknowledged my friends and I except for the middle aged men hitting on us. Great for many reasons. I have been coming here for lunch lately but my first times were dinner and drinks. It's a great neighborhood place with good food and drinks and great service. My house was one of the ones affected by the fire and I was stuck here one day with no idea where to go thinking my house had burned down and the staff here gave me drinks and food for free and were super nice. It meant a lot and now i am a loyal customer. The lunch sandwiches are solid but there are a lot of great items on the menu. Also a great place for love music and private parties. read more

I'm giving this place two stars because the bartender was a complete bitch. I don't have a clue as to why. She seemed so annoyed. I even mentioned it to my husband and he knew exactly which person I was referring to. You're allowed to smile! It's OK. You can act politely to customers. I came here last night to meet up with a friend for a drink and to catch up. I have been looking for a go-to spot when I want something between a dive bar but still somewhat lowkey. This is a good place for that. The only downside is that it got a little bit too loud (from the music/TVs, not the people). I read some of the other reviews that complain about service but I didn't experience any issues, but it also was not very busy when we arrived. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly and bubbly. We ordered a round of nice, cold beers and by the time we were almost finished, she had come by asking if we wanted another round. We did! :) Their beer selection isn't huge but you can still find what you like. The 805 definitely hit the spot last night! I eventually ordered the mac & cheese at the suggestion of our waitress. She knew I had been looking at it during the first round of drinks, and she highly recommended it so I caved. I wish she had let us keep our menus, however, because I did not realize that it came with pieces of chicken and mushroom. I'm not a big meat eater and I don't like mushrooms, but I could have dealt with it had the mac & cheese been good. It's hard to screw up mac & cheese in my opinion, but this was probably the worst I've had. It wasn't creamy or cheesy like you'd expect it to be. It didn't have any flavor at all. I decided that maybe I would like it better if I were sober and could fully taste it, so I asked for a box for my leftovers to reheat the next day. I tried to eat some of it, but ended up throwing it away. It's just not good at all. I was really disappointed after the waitress had given it a strong recommendation. We gave this place a try last night around 6pm while it was still happy hour. There was a Lakers game on and service was lacking as a result. They appeared to be slightly understaffed, however they really aren't that big and I noticed some tables receiving more attention than others (wealthier looking businessmen, for example). We ordered the garlic fries and short rib tacos. My boyfriend had a beer and I had the moscato manhattan on their menu, which is basically a regular manhattan replacing the sweet vermouth with moscato. The manhattan appeared to contain more moscato than whiskey and my boyfriend had a difficult time ordering another beer. I gave up after the first as I was never asked if I wanted or needed another drink. The short rib tacos were good, but tiny. The garlic fries were mediocre fries topped with a spoonful of straight up minced garlic. It was overwhelming and not worth it. We finally tracked down the waitress for our check and left just as a large party of children entered the bar. Not sure why anyone would bring a bunch of kids into the bar but apparently that's cool here. The bar does connect partially to Rockwell's, so maybe it was just spillover? We may check out the half off bottled wine Wednesday if we feel willing to deal with less than par service and have already gone somewhere else for dinner. read more

Great bar atmosphere but terrible food!! We waited 40 minutes for a disgusting prime rib Panini. Two slices of white bread toasted with a few pieces of black meat - don't if the meat was prime rib or not. The management did not charge us for the meal - thank goodness because I wasn't going to pay for it anyway! I would have to tell you that my wife and I went in to meet someone for a drink. I was told by some friends that it was a nice place to have a drink. The bartender was absolutely one of the rudest people I have ever met I my life. My wife asked what kind of draft beer they had he responded in a very rude way GETUP AND LOOK AT THEM. That's fine if you tell some one that in a nice way but this GUY was rude. I asked him about some vodkas, he was rude to me. This place has gone downhill. We ate lunch in the bar and were served horrible, unseasoned, cold patty melts. Cold French fries. After waiting over 40 minutes for our food. They didn't clear empty tables around us of dirty dishes. The service was minimal as the bartender was trying to do everything on her own. We thought maybe someone didn't show up for work because they seemed so short handed. But then heard the bartender saying, "I hate Fridays!" So, apparently they leave her to fend for herself like this all the time on Friday. This is the second time in a row we've had a really bad meal here. We won't be going back. Some of the worst service I've ever had! Our waitress was really inattentive and it was not busy at all in our seating area. They dropped off dirty plates then couldn't get away from our table fast enough to although we needed refills and had questions....seemed annoyed with us. Finally we waited thirty plus minutes for our bill from a waitress who never once checked in with us. My friend had to go inside and ask someone for our check and a bunch of staff was on their phones. We left so frustrated. We have gone to the Post numerous times and each time the service has been Fantastic. I enjoy taco Tuesday and highly recommend it to all. A few times we have seen some great entertainment. Recently we listened to a band called Flashpants. When the weather is nice it is wonderful to sit on the patio by the fire pit. I went to VP and I hoped of seeing Friends... Cost 20 bucks more and the place was 1/3 full ... My take put locals behind the bar... have them chat up the customers... Mostly locals go there... The post is literally right next-door to our home so extremely convenient. We have had lunch there a couple times. Food has been "meh." We had breakfast there for the first time today. I've been a regular since they opened and have been buying their cakes for years. But, after Saturday I'm done. It has consistently gotten worse over time. Whomever is in charge of updating their events Calendar has also apparently checked out because they still have their September cal. up. You can't even get a straight answer out of them when you call to see what bands are playing. Super frustrating and poor management. Some friends and I went this last Saturday just for dinner before going elsewhere for live music. I ordered my usual sliders with tater tots. My friend ordered the same. First, it took over 30 minutes to bring our food and we arrived at 5:15. The place wasn't busy. I've had their sliders when they've been great. But this time...HORRIBLE. Cold and like little charcoal bricks. The cheese was the size of a quarter and was ice cold. I choked down one of the three because we had waited so long to eat. Later we ordered a piece of carrot cake for the table, it was so stale, chucks of frosting just peeled away from the cake. Our waitress was pleasant enough but the service was beyond slow and anytime we did need something, it took 15+ minutes to try to get her attention. This place has become so consistently bad over time. I just don't think I can keep flushing my money down the drain. It's too bad because it's a cool little place. But it's not enough to be cool these days. If you cannot provide good service and great food, then may as well close because there are hundreds of places locally that will. read more
