Their name really does say it all - these guys are professional. I had the pleasure of working with John and his great crew today and I wouldn't hesitate to use their business again. They were on time, friendly, and all worked well as a team to get the job done as quickly as possible. Our move took longer than we all had anticipated (my fault for not totally realizing the amount of stuff we needed moved - lesson learned), but they were still patient with last minute adjustments and didn't leave until the job was done. Every piece of furniture was moved with upmost care and caution (using gloves and shoe protectors when necessary) and even providing us with felt pads for furniture. We were a bit worried about getting some extremely large, extremely heavy area rugs moved and these guys did it with no complaint and while it was definitely not easy, they made it look so. I hired The Professional Movers based on a recommendation from my client's realtor. They were amazing. The move was complex and required multiple stages, as well as packing and unpacking support. We needed to move some items out of the house for a month, some items would remain for staging, and then eventually everything needed to be moved into the new house. John helped me figure out the best option for the situation, which included how we'd choreograph the move given the narrow streets, low-hanging trees, and hills of the Devonshire canyon in San Carlos. We ultimately put most of the client's belongings in storage. The first stage of the move out was great. Marie and her ladies did an excellent job packing up the house--and so quickly! They were very communicative and asked questions when they weren't sure about something. Once things were packed onto the truck, they took the belongings to the storage unit, and I didn't even need to be there to oversee the unloading. I had also sold a large piece of the client's furniture and they were kind enough to deliver it to the new owner when she wasn't able to move it herself. About a month later, we were ready to move the remaining items and the stored items. It was swift and painless. Again Marie showed up with her team to pack the remaining items. The guys patiently moved dozens of large potted plants down the narrow staircase, loaded them onto a smaller truck and unloaded them the same day at the new house. The next day, Marie and team came in and started unpacking items. They really cared that the client would be able to sleep in the house that night with items put away, all beds made, and not surrounded by boxes. They were very thoughtful about where items were placed in the kitchen, e.g. the best location for glasses and dishes when unloading the dishwasher. The guys built the beds (and rebuilt them when the client changed her mind), placed potted plants where I wanted, stored holiday items in the garage, etc. I almost forgot to mention, John's walk through. Before the team arrived at the new house, we walked through each room and noted existing marks on walls and floors. He notices EVERYTHING, yes all-caps everything. He makes sure his team won't damage anything and he will know if they do. They put new felt pads on every item as they brought it into the house. They even had inside and outside crew. Inside crew wore shoe coverings! And then they swept the whole house before the left!!! This is the moving crew of your dreams. read more

He got me a special discount on a storage container and moved part of our things into it, packing it floor to ceiling and maximizing the container. He moved my furniture up to my new home when my old house sold. He unbolted and moved two huge metal sculptures from my property to my new house on his flatbed. John, Marie and their crew are nothing short of amazing. They packed up our entire 3800 sq ft home and loaded it in four hours flat. The next day, transport and full unload and unpack took barely five hours. They not only unpacked, but organized - made beds, arranged my kitchen cabinets just so, and even took photos of how I had set up my china cabinet in order to replicate it exactly. The packing and moving crew are beyond lovely - kind, efficient and helpful. In the past, moving for me has involved weeks and weeks of misery and living out of boxes - not with this crew. John Kelly of Professional Movers is truly professional. So many people seem to feel ripped off by moving companies, and I'm always happy to be able to share my recommendation for John. He and his team moved us to our current house and did a terrific job. Of course, they moved everything in without damaging anything--I expect that, and that will get you three stars. Do that at a reasonable price? OK, four stars. But John runs a five-star operation. Our move was completed on time and a little under the estimate he had given me, with smiles and a friendly attitude. I was also impressed that they brought those little felt pads to put under the furniture so it wouldn't scratch the hardwood floors in our house. We hired John after being unable to book another company for any of the dates we had discussed with them. John was easy to work with and got us on the schedule without any issues. On the day of, John's team was terrific. John and his team have moved me three times now -- once out of a storage unit into a condo. Once out of that condo into a storage unit (oh the joys of the Bay Area housing market!) and then again, out of that storage unit into my new house. Each time John's team was on time, friendly and oh so efficient. They packed (or unpacked!) my things with such care and ease that it made the process of moving so much less stressful. When moving from my condo to the storage until, my gosh those guys are Jenga masters! They stacked and arranged furniture like puzzle masters, ensuring that everything fit inside perfectly while I waited for my new house to be ready. Min between each of the pieces of furniture they laid pieces of thick packing paper to prevent damage and also wrapped everything in plastic. They were also incredibly considerate, asking which boxes I might want to access during the downtime and placing those in front so I wouldn't have to try to tunnel in. Once at my new house they unpacked their trucks with speed and care-- ensuring that furniture was placed where I wanted it (taking time to center things "just so" in the family room, dining room etc) and laid down track mats throughout the house to protect flooring. Seriously. These guys are the professional movers. I hope I don't have to move again because I love my house but if I do, I know who I'm calling. I was very happy with the result of our move. It was a relatively small move, but a complicated one, moving to a house with several stories on a hill up a steep driveway, with other complications thrown in. John was impressive with optimizing their use of time and with logistics. Mike and Gabriel were amiable and skilled at not causing damage to things, and asked lots of questions to make sure they were doing what we wanted. Price-wise, they charged me around $185 per hour for three people and a truck. I'm not sure how their pricing compares to other movers, but according to my realtor they have lots of experience with higher-end homes in the Bay Area. When we had our floors refinished by Spiteri's Hardwood Floor Co., the furniture from our lower floor had to be removed. John said he could move and stack it in our garage to save us time and money. Last December we purchased a new home. We had a tough time predicting the move date as we were not sure when escrow would close. John Kelly worked with us and got us scheduled only a few days after close. I moved a 3 bedroom townhouse to a 4 bedroom house and found you can accumulate alot of things in 6 years. John and his crew arrived at 8am sharp. He did a quick walk through to point out any pre-move damage and then they went to work. Most of my things were boxed but I was too overwhelmed to pack out the kitchen, which one of his guys did an excellent job of by the way. All items were wrapped in paper before being boxed (utensils, etc.), then labeled. They also helped box up quite a bit in the garage. In spite of all this packing, they were able to get me into my new house by 11am. They were super careful with the furniture, felting the bottoms and disposing of packing materials. They moved boxes into the rooms they were labeled for, as well as the furniture, even providing some input on the best placement of furniture. Once the dust settled and everything was moved in, John did a personal walk through again to ensure they did not damage anything. As a matter of fact, his eye for detail was so good he gave us several pointers on items in the house that should be fixed, such as making seams tighter on molding, etc. Had I known he had this type of expertise I would have paid him to inspect the house before making the final offer on the house! I would and did refer John and his crew to the gal that moved into my old place and she was over the moon with their services! The Professional Movers, in my opinion are reasonably priced, careful, aware and sensitive to the stress homeowners feel during the move reassuring you all the way that it will turn out well. Nothing was lost during the move which was not the case with my previous movers (who lost several rare over sized prints). Their services can be scaled to your requirements (if you need packing, unpacking, etc.) and they work with you to fit your needs. I recommend them highly! read more

First off, John came and walked through the house with me several weeks before the move, telling me what I'd need to do, how I'd need to pack and about the services he provided. John Kelly and his crew from Professional Movers have moved me from one apartment to another twice. Sadly I am a frequent mover and have dealt with a number of different moving companies (some okay and some awful but nobody even approached the service provided by this firm). I will NEVER use anybody but John and crew again!! They gave me a reasonable quote, assisted in every aspect of my moves, were prompt, courteous, and soooo very careful of all of my possessions. In my first move I was moving from a carpeted apartment to an apartment with newly refinished wood floors. When we arrived at the new place John took one look and told me I really needed to run to the local hardware store and buy some protective pads for my furniture so that it would not scratch the floors. They patiently waited until I returned with a bag of assorted protective devices and then they installed them on every piece of furniture before placing them in the apartment. They even leveled my bookcases for me on the sloping floor. I was (and still am) absolutley astonished at the care they took and how helpful they were. If any of my friends even mention they might be moving I instantly give them the contact information for The Professional Movers in Los Altos (there are several firms with similar names so be careful who you deal with--at least one of the other firms has a raving review because the reviewer thought they were giving John's firm a review). un-f#*%ing believable. best movers by far. -on time -considerate of property -communicative -respectful I was hesitant to schedule movers just because I'm stubborn and think I can take care of everything without spending all that money. Let me tell you - It was worth every single penny. Large crew was on time at 8 am at my small 2 bedroom apartment and had everything packed in less than 1 hour. Mind you - THEY packed! Including the things I left on hangers in my closet, blankets, shoes, miscellaneous stuff I left around the house. All the guys were super nice and were sure to put felt pads on the bottoms of chair legs, etc. Even when placing things on wood, they spoke to me about how NOT to scuff the wood floors with the wheels on the furniture and placed cardboard underneath the scuff-prone furniture. I was so stressed for the day but ended up being so laid back. I was even chilling on a couch thinking they were far from being done and one of the guys came up and said they were finished.
