[[HIGHLIGHT]]Gorgeous space and view. We didn't dine in the back, but there was a roaring fireplace and large windows to take in the view. In warmer weather, they have a deck to enjoy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. The bartender wasn't the friendliest, but he was ok. Looked like he had a hard time getting from one end of the bar to the other, so maybe that had something to do with it. We ordered the crab cake app and they were great. Not sure worth $18 though.

First and foremost we had a party of 17. So a lot of people. The waitress took care of us incredibly well. She was attentive always asking if we needed anything, let us know about our food . She took our order and we went up to get salad bar. The salad bar is a huge plus as I always love a good one. I ordered the lobster bisque. It arrived and was super hot and pretty flavorful. We had also ordered garlic Parmesan wings. They were a bit different than what I'm used to but tasted very flavorful as well. I ordered the steak medium rare . Once it finally arrived after a very long kitchen wait (which the waitress spoke to us to let us know several times) the steak was more medium to well. The mushrooms on top were a good addition to it . All it was a decent time but definitely not worth the money.

Wow. What an experience! We are here for work with 10 coworkers and this restaurant was recommended by our hotel. Wowza. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When we walked in, the restaurant is beautiful decorated and so welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We sat down and were greeted by far, the most friendly person we have met in Bennington, Fred. Her energy, knowledge of the menu and overall presence was infectious. She was a joy! We loved it so much, we are coming back tomorrow with the rest of our group! See you all tomorrow!

I was in Vermont and The Publyk House caught my eye so I decided to give it a try. That being said, I'm glad I did because it was very good. To get things underway, the waitress brought out complimentary bread with homemade maple butter. In light of this, the bread was delicious. It was light, fresh, and tasted homemade. Also, the maple butter was sweet and went perfectly with the bread. Likewise, a trip to the salad bar came with every entree. The salad bar had a lot of options and everything tasted very fresh. Following that, I ordered the lobster macaroni and cheese for my meal. With that being said, the lobster macaroni and cheese was delicious. To enlighten, the noodles were cooked just right and it was extremely cheesy. Additionally, the lobster was fresh and had excellent flavor. Similarly, the macaroni and cheese had a bread crumb topping that added the perfect crunchiness. This was simply a very good lobster macaroni and cheese. In drawing things to a close, The Publyk House is a nice restaurant located in Vermont that offers tasty bread and lobster macaroni and cheese.

Good sized restaurant with plenty of seating options in the restaurant, tavern and outside (on a nice day). Service was attentive and friendly. The decor gives a "warm cabin" kind of feel - to me anyway. Wish the fireplace was lit. Overall, we did not enjoy the food. Here's what we had and comments: - Salad bar: (3.5) I enjoyed the salad bar; however my wife struggled with the appearances and opted out. Mainly, many of the items were messy with stuff spilled out probably due to much use (we arrived at 7:30pm). Also, the tongs were lying fully in the lettuce including the part people were using with their hands. - Bread: (2.75) Bread was made in house, but it was served room temperature, which was chilly. Also, the bread was dry - so I am guessing it was cooked early in the day. Maple butter was tasty but it was served very cold and didn't melt or spread easily on cold bread. - Baked Cod: (3) Relatively small amount of cod covered and baked with a copious amount of finely ground bread crumbs, cheese and butter. The result was a casserole textured dish that mostly tasted like mushy breadcrumbs. This is the first time having New England baked cod, so this may have been served the traditional way; however, it wasn't to our liking. - Maple old fashioned (2.5): I have honestly never had an old fashioned that I couldn't finish. This one was tough. There was too much maple. - Filet medallions topped with crab and lobster cream sauce: (3) cut of steak was not trimmed well, so many sinewy, chewy bites. Lacked seasoning, so salt was a must. Crab was not fresh and may have been canned. Lobster sauce was almost room temperature. Baked potato was served lukewarm and almost melted the butter. Small serving of green beans needed seasoning and they were not well trimmed. For $40, this was a disappointment.

We called in a lunch order to pick up and the girl on the phone was rude, snarky and actually laughed at us when we ordered an item that is no longer on the menu. After I placed the order I thanked her and she rudely responded "excuse me!! Let's start with your name! Our policy has changed and you need to pay now!" Ok...so I gave her my card over the phone. When we got there to pick it up my friend went in to get it and the same woman said "you need to sign this slip" to which my friend said, it's not my card that was used. She responded "I don't care whose card it is you need to sign this!" My friend bit her tongue because there were customers enjoying their meals and she didn't want to make a scene by calling her out of her horrendous customer service. I have worked in hospitality my entire life and the rudeness and lack of training is appalling. To top it off she was apparently training a new employee. Hopefully the girl in the bandana knows enough to greet guests with kindness instead of learning from her coworker. Especially working in a place like Pangaea Café, that is known for having a relaxing atmosphere with warmth and kindness. With that said, the food was wonderful as always. I hope ownership retrains this young woman (my slip says her name is Maeve) before she pushes regular customers away. 5/5 stars on a regular day. 1/5 stars today.

The place is pretty casual which has table seating and seating up at the bar and food and drinks are ordered and paid separately with Bevis Bistro for food and Farm Road Brewing for drinks. I arrived here just before 5pm on a sunny fall day. The place was moderately busy and there was no line at the Bevis Bistro counter. You can also order food and drinks from your seat marking your choices on the plastic menus with black dry erase markers. I ordered directly from the counter since I decided on one of the specials, a Meatloaf Panini ($9 plus tax) and Loaded Tater Tots ($12 plus tax). The food was ready in about 10 minutes after ordering. The Meatloaf Panini was comprised of firm dense slices of meatloaf, melted cheese, onions, tomato, maple mayo between pressed slices of sweet bread. The Panini was served with salted potato chips (generic) and the dill pickle spear. The Loaded Tater Tots were a good sized portion of deep fried tater tots topped with real bacon bits, tomatoes, beer cheese sauce, onions, and sour cream on the side. Another patron at the next table ordered the Taste of Vermont Panini (turkey, bacon, cucumbers, apple slices, tomatoes, provolone, maple mayo), which looked really good. The food I ordered was pretty good. The staff was looking out the window commenting on the "tourists" crossing the skewed Main Street/North Street intersection with the painted piano compass in the center, skipping by the crosswalk. It was also mentioned that new businesses were going in across the street including a cafe, suggesting the cafe should be called the Butthead Cafe, lol. It was the perfect setting for a memorable holiday dinner. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with friendly, attentive service from our server, Jamie. The ambiance was warm, inviting, and rich with history, making us feel like we had stepped back in time. We started with an Old Fashioned made with Smugglers' Notch bourbon for me and a refreshing Blueberry Refresher for my wife. The homemade cranberry fritters served with Vermont maple butter were an outstanding way to begin the meal. Next came bowls of the delicious Cheddar & Ale Onion Soup, followed by the Maple Butter & Walnut Encrusted Brie served with Vermont apples and toasted baguette--an excellent combination of sweet, savory, and crunchy flavors. Our entrees were preceded by fresh field greens salads with balsamic vinaigrette and blue cheese crumbles, along with warm, freshly baked bread. I thoroughly enjoyed the Traditional Pot Roast--tender brisket slow-cooked in the tavern's Circa 1790 Amber Ale with rich pan gravy. My wife chose the Scrod with pumpkin seeds, butter, Chardonnay, and lemon, which was perfectly prepared and beautifully balanced. To finish, we shared the Cranberry & Apple Crisp topped with local vanilla ice cream and whipped cream--a fittingly New England ending to an exceptional meal. The combination of outstanding food, welcoming hospitality, and the unique historic atmosphere made for a wonderful dining experience. If you're visiting Manchester, Ye Olde Tavern is well worth a visit, especially if you're looking to enjoy classic Vermont cuisine in one of the state's most historic settings.
