Absolutely the worst Korean BBQ restaurant I've ever been to. Cross contamination issues, poor quality meat and seafood, and over priced. Server trying to cook the food for us is super annoying. 2 people in our party and we both ordered 3 meats each and server only brought out 3 in total. Very limited starches, no vegetables, and no sauces to choose from. Spicy options were overly spicy, marinated selections overly sweet. Sides were not very palatable. Probably the reason only 3 other groups of people were in there. $90 for 2 people for lunch. Just sad. We will never return. read more

Came for dinner on a Saturday and it was about a 4 min wait. At $38pp you get a variety of meats. They have an adjustable exhaust vent to help with the smoke dissipation which is a huge plus! I liked their orange bulgogi and brisket! Staff were friendly and did a good job of checking in and replacing the grates after they were charred. This was not our first time dining at a Qui Korean BBQ, but it was our first visit to the Gainesville location. Overall, we had a great experience! The ambiance and location were fantastic--modern, welcoming, and beautifully decorated. The attention to detail in the decor really set the mood and made it a pleasant place to enjoy a meal. We arrived on a Sunday right before noon, and to our delight, there was no wait, which was a huge plus. The service was amazing--attentive, friendly, and efficient. The food, as always, did not disappoint. We opted for the AYCE option, and it lived up to the high standards we've come to expect from Qui. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection at the table. The only reason for the 4-star rating is the bathroom cleanliness. Unfortunately, on this day, the restrooms were not as clean as expected, and this was consistent across both the men's and women's bathrooms. Other than that small issue, everything was excellent, and we would absolutely recommend this location to others. We look forward to coming back! read more

TL;DR: Solid KBBQ spot with great options for meats/AYCE I have been to the QUI in Chantilly (not a fan) and Fairfax (my favorite one). Tried this location since we were in the area and craving KBBQ. The inside is spacious and well decorated with a nice bar area. The hostess and our server were a little awkward, but attentive and nice. I had told our server that I could cook our meats for us (out of convenience) since I have done it a lot throughout my life and did not feel like having to wait or worry about the meat burning, in case our server was busy. We did the AYCE with 1 premium option. My favorite meats: ~Fatty Brisket Plate ~Thick cut pork belly ~Spicy Pork Belly ~Prime LA Galbi Favorite sides: ~Fried Rice Cakes ~Beef Radish Soup Would I come all the way out here for this location specifically? Went here to eat here tonight at 5:30 pm and was basically turned away. Waitress rudely told me they closed in an hour and asked me and my party if we even wanted to eat here. Like they were bothered to have us there. We said yes we would still like to eat here and she sighed and told us to wait. She then walked away and started waiting tables leaving us at the entrance for 10 minutes until we realized we would not be served here. Terrible. We left when the waiter put raw pork on the burner with the cooked beef, then told me it was my fault because I was in a hurry. This was a surprise to me. I ordered a pineapple martini, which I have had plenty of times. This time it was in a whiskey glass with ice and lime. I question it and the waiter ensured me it was a pineapple martini he just likes to put ice in it. It did not taste more like a margarita, but ok. Lots of mis steps but we moved on until my cooked beef was pushed aside on the burner and the raw pork was placed next to it. I went to ask the person I assume was the manager if this was normal practice since the signs and the waiter said only one meat would be cooked at a time. The manager said what table is yours then ignored us.. No sorry no nothing. Blamed me and handed me the check. We left and will never be back. My son got sick within an hour of us leaving. Went here with family, including my in-laws, brother-in-law, and his family with three kids, after some Black Friday shopping. We needed a meal before heading home after a long Thanksgiving, and this place was perfect. It wasn't too crowded, and they were able to seat us with two BBQ grills. We went for the AYCE BBQ, which had great options. The server did an excellent job preparing the food for us and checked in regularly. We tried the bulgogi, and while the kalbi and some specials were extra, the base options like pork belly, seafood, and chicken were all solid. They also offered sides like steamed egg, creamy corn, and traditional banchan. Since we had kids, and there wasn't a kids' menu, we grabbed pizza from a place across the street, and they allowed it without charging for the kids--super accommodating. Went here for my birthday last Saturday, May 11, 2024. I've tried a lot of the Korean barbecues around the area up to Centerville and this was by far the best one I've had yet! The quality of the meats in the marinades fantastic! The beef and pork Bulgogi, the honey butter squid, the brisket and the top blade steaks were all phenomenal! Just like every Korean barbecue restaurant I've been in. It was very loud however, the atmosphere and surrounding was very nice. The service was also also excellent! I will definitely visit this restaurant again and I would recommend you do so as well! read more

Came here finally! Bday celebration for a lunch and we opted for the AYCE. All the meats were good. Waiter came and were attentive and felt they came out several times when we were ready for another order. Everyone in the family eats and tries to maximize their orders with the time limit they have. I feel like I can't talk when I come with eaters like this. Their one mission is to eat now talk later. Not as much side dishes as So BBQ in Centerville (is our go-to place). No dessert- Korean rice drink like you get at the other place either. Steamed egg dish can get on the side is also better at So restaurant (here I believe it's frozen as they had to heat it up on the grill before we ate it- at the other restaurant it comes out steaming hot in a hot clay pot. We went here at 4 PM for dinner and it wasn't crazy packed like the Qui in Chantilly is around this time (it definitely picked up by the end of our meal). Ambiance was also much more relaxed than other KBBQ places (music wasn't blaring to the point that you can't hear the person across from you). We did option #3 AYCE and it was great and worth the price. Our favorites were the cumin pork belly, bulgogi, and thin sliced brisket. The beef radish soup was surprisingly delicious; The well balanced broth was comforting on a cold day. The steamed egg was just okay. The food tasted great but our server Jessica was absolutely wonderful and truly made the experience stellar. She was attentive, anticipated our needs, and she actually grilled our food for us. I find that at most places, you end up grilling your own meats because it gets so busy. She switched out our grills regularly, refilled our sauces, even offered to bring my toddler more rice when she noticed she finished her first bowl. We will definitely be coming back. So glad to have a KBBQ place much closer to home. read more

Unfortunately, I have to write this review. This is hands down the worst KBB restaurant I've ever been to. The meat quality is horrible. Some of the flavored bulgogi were so sweet, I thought I was going to need insulin after eating them. Also, the fact you have to cook your sides in uncomprehensible. The only reason they make you do that, is take away from your ninety minute, all you can eat time limit. With so many other options fifteen to twenty minutes away, this business practice is not a model for success. read more

Food was pretty good, but the sides left a little to be desired. The service and the ambience were great. My biggest complaint is that an 11-year-old is charged full price. I don't know what 11-year-old eats the same amount as a full adult. I totally appreciate the stagger pricing for the younger ages but 11.... This will make us not return as other Korean BBQs around town having much better pricing system. First of all, this place is open for lunch, even though Yelp says it doesn't open until 4:30. And they have a very nice lunch special (see my photo). Sadly, my husband and I were the only customers. Had a great experience here! My husband took me here for date night and I was excited to try it. We usually go all the way to SO Korean in Centreville- this place was just as good and closer to home! The sides were fresh, the meat was really tasty and the vibe was awesome- good music! We know they were understaffed today but they did the best they could to accommodate us. We really have enjoyed our visits to Qui in Gainesville and haven't had a bad experience- we love the "regular" AYCE. We love the spicy bulgogi and spicy pork belly. Drinks were great as well! We typically prefer to cook our own meats but let our servers handle it when they aren't too busy and didn't have any issues. We will definitely try the other locations if we're nearby! read more

Spicy chicken was OK, soy chicken...zero flavor. Bulgogi was very gristly and chewy...top blade steak, line of fat down the middle, no flavor at all. They need to use more marinade. Came here opening night and came back again a week later. This place is amazing! Opening night, they had some issues with ventilation as it got a bit smoky inside. They opened doors and apologized and helped air it out and it was no big deal. When I returned again it seems they completely resolved the ventalation issue which is great. Service is extremely friendly and attentive. We hardly had to wait at all on two busy nights. Wait staff is constantly hustling to make sure you have all you need and checking in frequently. The atmosphere is nice and clean and the bar area looks nice as well. The food is amazing! My fiance is not a huge fan of meat dishes but she happily comes here with me just for their Bulgogi which is the best I've ever had. The food comes out quick, and is absolutely delicious. Thin sliced brisket and bulgogi are amazing! If you haven't tried the Qui, you're missing out! read more

My husband and I have anxiously been awaiting the opening of this new Korean barbecue restaurant. Every time we go to Lowe's in the area we would drive by to see if it was open. My best friend stopped by my house on 1/12/24 and we were telling her we hadn't had dinner and my husband said hey let's try out the new Korean barbecue place! We walked in and asked if we had to make a reservation. They said they don't do reservations but it was gonna be a 45 to an hour wait. No problem we waited. The place was packed. It was Friday night. We were finally seated and first thing the waitress told us was that it was going to be a 90 minute process cooking the food. They already had the sides sitting on the table, which I thought was kind of gross. I feel like they should bring those out fresh once you sit down. We were all provided a bottle of water and not asked if we wanted anything else to drink. We ordered food for party of four and the waitress and informed us that we'd probably have a lot of food left over. We didn't mind. She also told us that soup and egg comes with it. Soup came out in one bowl. Egg came out in another bowl. I guess we were all supposed to use our spoons and share the same bowls. We ordered the first item on the menu for four people, the beef combo. We also added an additional order of shrimp and we're told it would be extra because it was à la cart but we didn't mind because that's what my best friend wanted. Once the meat was ready, she brought it to our table and turned on the oven and walked away then eventually came back to put the first selection of meat on the grill along with some asparagus, that she left on there so long that they ended up burning. We told her we wanted all of our meat medium. The first selection was not cooked long enough to me. It still looked raw when she was putting it on our plates. I should have spoke up and said something because now I lay here in bed the next day with food sickness, and I am convinced this is what it was. We continued on with the rest of the meat. She still never asked us if we wanted drinks. We finally had to pipe up and ask for them. She also forgot about the shrimp. I had to remind her to bring that out so that came after all the other meat was cooked. The chairs were extremely uncomfortable and I already have back issues so my back was throbbing by time we were done when we got up to leave we stepped through the door my stomach was cramping and hurting. I told my best friend and my husband all the way home I was like I do not feel good. Something is not right. I thought my stomach was gonna burst, and my whole body was aching. I said good night to everyone and went straight to bed because I felt horrible. The next day when I woke up, I had sharp pains in my lower abdomen. I started getting the chills, and my whole body was aching. I was perfectly fine before we left the house to go out to eat, I'm usually not the type of person with the sensitive stomach but something there definitely did not sit well with me. $232 for 3 people and food poisoning was not worth it to me. I'm so happy to have Korean bbq in Gainesville. Quality of meat was great and we really enjoyed the food. We went on a weekend so there was a little bit of a wait because it was crowded which is great for them but terrible if you're starving so get there early! It was worth the wait. To avoid a long wait, I called ahead and attempted to book a reservation for my family of 6 at QUI in Gainesville, VA. I was told twice over the phone that I could NOT make reservations for a party of six specifically because we had 3 CHILDREN in our group. While at the restaurant, I asked the hostess for clarification on their policy, she said they DO NOT allow reservations for parties with children because of the difference in food menu prices. This policy essentially DISCRIMINATES against any single family household with children. We would have spent $160 on dinner or more had they taken our reservation. We left the restaurant and didn't eat. We will not go to QUI or recommend this place to anyone. They are NOT friendly to families with children, and they DO NOT accommodate reservations for anything less than 6 adults. If you have a party with hungry children, you have no choice but to sit and wait in their tiny crowded lobby entrance for 30mins to an hour. To add insult to injury.... THE VERY FIRST THING THIS RESTAURANT DOES WHEN YOU ENTER THE ESTABLISHMENT WITH A FAMILY FULL OF CHILDREN... IS ASK IF YOU HAVE A RESERVATION. read more

My experience has always been great. I started going to the location in Fairfax before this one opened so I couldnt wait for this to open!! The cumin pork belly is soooo tasty and the beef/ radish soup!! The broccoli has the perfect taste to it too! I'm not a fan of the corn cheese ( literally the only negative thing about the menu I've experienced) - it seems like the cheese never melts and when it does it's one big glob ... The lychee martini is really good if you like cocktails! The place has a very modern look in the inside compared to other non- franchise places and they play kpop music videos on the tv screens If you are any open minded person ( with different cuisines) then you will like it! Now onto the other (rude) comments I've seen left by the "Karen"s: I can tell a lot of the commenters here are not familiar with the culture of Korean bbq... complaining about sides being out before you got to the table ? Places like this are equipped with staff that have to do their part to make sure there isnt a hold up for the party and that each party can stick to a time limit as these places are very popular... And complaining about sharing ??? The privilege the whole point of the Korean bbq style is to share and be close with your loved ones-- something I can see doesn't apply to you and your families work on that please If you wanted 5-star restaurant quality and presentation this is clearly not the place for you and your micro aggressions (gross). read more

New restaurant, still have a few things to improve upon but overall was good and most likely will improve over time. Tips for new Korean bbq diners.. sides and soups are served for the table not individual. Korean bbq typically involve you the diner to also cook for yourself, so don't wait for your waiter to come back and finish the cook for you and complain it's overcooked or burnt. If you want your meat to be medium and it looks medium, take it off the grill and eat it! Don't wait for the waiter to serve it to your plate.. it's not Japanese hibachi. Not sure why an elite food "reviewer" don't get this... common sense yall. read more

Unmitigated disaster. Sad to say another restaurant in this location will fail. So disappointed. Great touch to get a plastic bottle of water to go along with the box of kimi-wipes for napkins. Loved the wide open door with 40 degree air pouring in because of all the smoke. Needed to wear our coats until we walked out disgusted. No one sitting around was enjoying their meals.
