Shortly after losing our 16 year old cat to cancer we spoke to Ivor about finding bringing another cat into our home. He was helpful and wonderful to work with. Unfortunately when we stopped in the pet store where Fat Cat was that day, we ended up speaking to Christine. After hearing that we had lost our cat, instead of offering sympathy she IMMEDIATELY began quizzing is about how we cared for her and essentially refused to allow us to adopt. For the record, our cat lived for ~10 years with cancer thanks to to excellent veterinary care and a whole lot of love.

Visiting is super easy. Just walk right in. You sign a waiver and you wait for the next group to be called, which happens pretty quickly. It's $15 for 30 minutes and honestly that's just enough time without getting bored or feeling rushed. They have lots of young kittens so most cats are alert and playful. You do have some in the back who just prefer to be sleeping and there are plenty of couches for you to rest with those laid back cats. They ask that you not pick up the cats but sometimes they'll just plop onto your lap and what do you do if you have to move?! While there were a never ending line of people coming to visit the cats, it never felt too crowded on a Friday afternoon. There were LOTS of younger children, around 6-10 and some of them were not conducting themselves properly around the kittens, yet no one said anything. There are staff, maybe volunteers, in the space with the cats but no one seemed to say anything to the kids who were being too loud or aggressively playing with the kittens. You can tell some of the kittens were scared when kids would run towards them. Mini Cat Town seems to be a successful business. It's a good idea to visit if you're looking to adopt so you can get a feel for the cat you'd make a good match with. It's also a good place to visit if you need some cat loving but don't want to have one of your own.

The pricing is also very reasonable for a quick dose of "purr-therapy" at $15 for adults and $10 for kids for a 30-minute session. The environment is clean and bright. We saw everything from sleepy tabbies curled up in wooden cubbies to social, friendly cats lounging on the sofas. My daughter was in heaven--she even wore her favorite kitten dress for the occasion! It's a wonderful, peaceful spot to bond with adorable, adoptable cats. Whether you are looking to adopt or just want to support a great cause while getting some kitten cuddles, this place is a gem. We left with huge smiles and will definitely be back to this location, and we're already looking forward to visiting their other ones as well.

A worthy service org!…read more So I do a bit of cat rescue and have used PCW a few times to help get my homeless and sick ferals cared for. It's a real journey, honestly. Vet care is hella expensive in the Bay area and these often thrown-out or abandoned cats get nothing. PCW helped pay for a 1400 teeth removal for a 10 year old feral in my care, and she eventually regained her full health, fur grew back, gained weight and got homed at sanctuary. All I can say is no other place out there is doin it. It's not sexy, but it's critical for the critters!

In fact, we recently moved from Fillmore, CA (Ventura County) to Sunnyvale, CA and gained a large discount in her monthly medication needs.

But lately it's…read moregotten disorganized and money hungry. -- For the past few years, I've had minimal issues other than the slightly higher prices. I figured the quality of care seemed good enough, but all that changed recently. My dog needed to switch to Apoquel, and at the time, he weighed 48.3lbs. According to Apoquel's own website, he would need 2 doses of 8mg a day for 7-15 days, and take 8mg daily after. But the vet prescribed him 5.4mg pills, telling me to give him 10.8mg twice daily for two weeks. That would require 56 pills. They provided me 21 pills, which didn't even cover one week, and they charged me $223.50 ($1.97/mg). But if they had given me an Rx for 8mg like Apoquel calls for, I would've been able to buy more than a full loading dose of 30 16mg pills for $69.70 on Chewy ($0.14/mg). So they not only dosed him wrong and gave me an incorrect number of pills, but they also used an inflated price THIRTEEN times higher than market price. I tried to call and ask to clarify, because I haven't had such intense issues before. But the vet just said "no, it's the right dose. If we gave him 8mg, it wouldn't be enough", refusing to address the information I shared from Apoquel's own website. When I asked about the price, they said they "didn't think it was that marked up". My dog is a senior dog, and he had some operations coming up, so I didn't want to switch out for fear that he was going to struggle more with the unfamiliarity. During that time, they prescribed him clonidine. Normally, I request Rx through email, and I get a digital copy that I can print and send to Chewy. But this time, I'd asked in the vet and got a paper copy that I unfortunately misplaced. When I looked for it digitally, I noticed that it was written as "cloridive" in my invoice, which was confusing since that doesn't exist, and no digital Rx was provided. So I messaged to get a digital copy of the Rx like always, but they said they couldn't give one to me for liability reasons, despite doing this multiple times before. However, they could break their rule if I paid for another prescription through a portal that they vend through. When I pointed out how ridiculous this was, they eventually did send the copy, but it was unreasonably difficult. To add a cherry on top, the 10.8mg of Apoquel/day caused health issues in my dog that I have to sort out at another vet. I saw a later comment about how this place is owned by private equity. Probably an important thing to consider.

Spoke with the owner for about thirty minutes before even heading inside to meet them to give her the baseline of things that typically raise concerns to cat rescues. We have two dogs, live in a studio, and they would stay in the bathroom while getting acclimated to us and the dogs. We let the rescue team know both dogs grew up around cats and have never shown any issues and they know to go to the door for potty time (ensuring the back door would not be left open for the cats safety). During this conversation I heavily emphasized and talked about my Pitty mix because she is off weird with people and we won't push that but she has never shown any signs of aggression towards other animals. They were very open to our situation and told us they do a "trial" period to ensure a smooth transition for the cats and even if it doesn't work out after the three weeks we can hand them back over with no ties. We were super excited to find a rescue that seemed open and willing to work with us. I have been the pet industry for over six years so I know how finicky cat rescues can be sometimes and was super excited to thought I have found some place different. We spent 45 minutes looking at the cats and they were absolutely adorable and we wanted to go through with the adoption process. We talked to the owner she approved our application and we set up at time for Monday for her to drop off the cats to us. We were told we would be getting a text from the foster that same evening confirming drop off time and sending over some pictures of the kittens. We didn't get anything that night knowing they were running the adoption event through the weekend and they may be busy we decided to send an inquiry email Sunday at around 3:40 pm. We didn't get a message back until almost 9pm on Sunday. The rescue staff knew both of us worked Monday-Friday so meet up would have to be after than. We went to the pet store on Saturday to buy the basic cat necessities and once we got a message confirming the meeting and that we would be receiving the cats we would order the bigger things (cat tree, things for outside of the bathroom, etc.) but given we weren't texted until 9pm the night before everything had not arrived or is now arriving today (Tuesday). When the foster arrived to our home we immediately felt judgment due to the location of our home. Before entering our home the foster asked to meet the dogs we allowed for her to meet one but again with my pit mix she is ultimately nervous around people and it's not worth stressing her out and the foster let us know that was a "concern" for her but ultimately something I didn't feel comfortable stressing my dog out for. After entering the home it just felt like a very judged and invasive process. Under the impression based on the interactions with the dogs she would not be leaving the cats with us she still proceeded to take pictures of our home which we do not know if they have been deleted or not. Ultimately I do not blame the rescue or the foster as I believe they are doing what they believe is best for the cats but I do also want to warn people that the adoption process was very very invasive and left us with an overall icky feeling. They got our hopes up and seemed super welcoming and willing to work with and then completely flipped when it came to meeting at our home and we were judged for a number of reasons. We set up our home for two new additions and still have materials being delivered to our home with no use now. Ultimately we just find it very rude and distasteful.

I completely understand if the kitten I applied for was ultimately a better fit for a home with other cats, and I respect making placement decisions in the animal's best interest. But the way this was communicated felt dismissive and unnecessarily hurtful. This experience has put me off from working with this rescue again. I hope all their sweet cats do find wonderful homes, but I can't recommend this organization based on how adopters are treated.

The following morning I received an email that I was invited to meet/adopt. I paid the $75 deposit and scheduled a meeting for Sunday morning, to give myself a day to think it over. Friday night I spent some time looking into the rescue since the previous steps had happened so quickly. After reading reviews, I was definitely upset & VERY hesitant after reading how their meet and greet process goes and where the dogs come from. Saturday I mulled it all over, and decided to go visit the dog Sunday with a list of restrictions. I went early to stake the place out, it was definitely sketchy in a back parking lot and felt weird. Eventually the dog rounds the corner with his foster parents and we meet. The dog was exactly as described & his personality and demeanor matched perfectly to what I had heard about him. He jumped into my arms and I knew then there was no way I was leaving without him. I spent an hour there with the dog & the fosters. They answered all my questions, didn't rush me, and I really got a sense of the dog. Months later and he is still the same dog I met that day- I know this isn't the case for everyone, but I'd say give it a chance!
