Everything was cooked right as ordered! Flavors are smoked to a great balance! Definitely worth the ride.

A warm day with a breeze to car & people watch. Families out walking, folks enjoying the cars, older folks, neighbors & a great vibe. A great menu & decent prices. Service was outstanding, our server was attentive & patient with us. The menu is VERY good for any diets, I think. Dad got a basic salad & was Mmmmm Mmmm through the last bite. I had a side of Fried Okra as an appetizer- not as crisp as I like but great flavor. Dad loved his meal & ordered a 2nd full meal to take home for the next 2 days. A lot of food. Menu & pics attached. I believe this may be my new spot, but a 45 min drive from Lawrenceville to Tucker. I had the Smoked Beet Veggie Cuban (no meat). Was SO good!! Actually amazing!!! For the 2 of us; 2 beers, side okra, small salad & 2 Fresh Air Sandwiches was $75 plus tip. That isn't so bad. I wish I took pics of the patio, they have a small bar (full bar) window & a few stools. Very quaint. We left & the place was pretty packed at 1 pm. I'm satisfied!

Very dense and dry. Barely any jalapeño flavor. The agave as sweetener doesn't really lend much flavor either. Brunswick stew was good. Portions are quite small but the quality is there. Flavor profile is a little more toward acidic as opposed to sweet. But I enjoyed it.

Our first attempt to visit Old Hickory House on Monday didn't work out because they're closed on…read moreMondays. Fortunately, we were still in the area and made it back today. Old Hickory House traces its roots back to 1955, and the Tucker location, which opened in 1974, is now the last remaining Old Hickory House restaurant. The place still has that classic Southern barbecue feel with wood-paneled walls, comfortable booths, and decades of history around every corner. Fans of Smokey and the Bandit will also recognize the famous Diablo Sandwich connection. According to restaurant lore, Jackie Gleason ad-libbed the line, "Give me a Diablo sandwich and a Dr Pepper, and make it fast. I'm in a hurry!" during the movie. The line became one of the film's most memorable quotes, and Old Hickory House proudly keeps the Diablo Sandwich on the menu today. After hearing how spicy it is, I decided to leave that challenge for someone else. I ordered the sliced pork platter with collard greens and a bowl of Brunswick stew. Most of the pulled pork I eat is shredded, so I decided to try sliced pork for a change. I enjoyed the different texture, and it actually changed the way the barbecue sauce interacted with the meat. The pork was tender and smoky with some excellent bark mixed throughout. The barbecue sauce was different from both the Carolina-style sauces and the thicker sauces I'm used to back home in Ohio. It wasn't overly thick, had a flavor all its own, and complemented the pork well. Our server made sure we never ran short, bringing out extra sauce whenever we needed it. The collard greens were very good. The leaves seemed larger and darker than many collard greens I've had elsewhere, and they were flavorful enough that I enjoyed eating them just as they were without adding anything extra. I've now had Brunswick stew at three different Georgia barbecue restaurants during this trip, and Old Hickory House's version was the most stew-like of the three. It was thicker, chunkier, and loaded with visible tomatoes, corn, and meat. The menu describes it as "zesty," and that's an accurate description. It had a little more kick than the other versions I've tried this week and was clearly a recipe they take pride in. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive throughout the meal and took care of all the little things that make a difference. She checked on us regularly, brought out extra sauces without hesitation, and even offered to-go beverages before we left. Nothing felt rushed, and she made us feel welcome from start to finish. One final note: the portions were generous. In fact, I couldn't even finish all of the sliced pork, so part of it came home with me for later. Old Hickory House isn't trying to be trendy or reinvent barbecue. It's simply continuing a tradition that has been serving the Atlanta area for more than seventy years, and there's something refreshing about that. If you're looking for classic Southern barbecue, homemade Brunswick stew, and a restaurant with a genuine sense of history, Old Hickory House is well worth a visit. As soon as you walk in, you smell the amazing barbecue aromas that are baked into the wood over the years. The restaurant looks just like it did back in the 70s when they filmed the smoky and the bandit there. That was greeted promptly by my server on my last visit as well as previous visits and they always do a good job checking up on you while you're eating to make sure you don't need anything else. I've eaten here three or four times in the last month. I just can't get enough of it!

Everyone was incredibly accommodating and welcoming. The food was absolutely amazing, truly 5-stars quality across the board. The smoked filet was phenomenal, and the craft cocktails, white sangria, and wine selection were all excellent. Even though there wasn't a children's menu, the staff went above and beyond to make sure our kids were taken care of. The chef even prepared special dishes just for them, which we truly appreciated. I can't say enough about how thoughtful and accommodating the entire team was. Our waitress, Liz, was such a professional she helped us navigate the drink menu and made suggestions and brought surprises and samples based on our likes. We will be returning!

The owner has some other restaurants downtown Decature as well The "Cherokee Rose", very nice ambient atmosphere good looking restaurant. However it appears to be Family run with close friends and their kids. The Staff is not very attentive, one bartender so long waits or missed over waiting to place a drink and food order No one's really educated on the menu when asked a question about the food items. They just slide a menu in front of you as a gesture - you read it if you want to know. I can't see the small print on these menus to save my life lol I invited a industry colleague for a business dinner Ok, food review they offer an oxtail protein in the collard greens "Yummy" however I didn't find oxtail in the collard greens anywhere. My guest ordered some cwing dinner that looked like a contraption. As far as the presentation was delivered. I decided on a liquid diet after seeing the food delivery Next week I personally stopped in-for lunch wanted to give this place a chance to rebound and my full attention on a fair review. I wanted to also make sure management was there. An older caucasian woman greets me well we have a cordial conversation about my previous experience and my embarrassment at such a nice looking restaurant She was unable to believe this happened at her restaurant. Just plain disbelief and raved about the kitchen and pride that goes into her food to later having to eat those words Again, limited menu what is up with the 4-5 items to chose from. I donot eat steak fries So I just ordered the burger - medium well - not burned and it had no venison mixed or blended meat added The burger came out with old brown tarnished lettuce I sent it back for fresh lettuce . She brought it back they added thousand island dressing when I specially asked for mayo on the side which was also provided. What is going on in the kitchen I took a bittersweet bite anyways and spat it out. Took my utensils which looks like a switch blade in a fairly nice restaurant. bad esthetics decisions I knifed out The center of the uncooked raw meat of the burger and waited patiently for the nice lady to find her way back over to me I offered to just pay and leave. She ask what was the problem . I uncovered the burger and allowed her to witness fir herself Her face turned beet red and quickly said no charge and stormed off to her kitchen where I am sure like "The Oak" there was a Waffle House griller reject acting as a chef " Pictures attached : I can't make my Experiences UP! #SMH you just can't get what you pay for anywhere these days Me being a restaurant consultants. I've contacted a few franchises and alerted them to a decent food market thst can use some great affordable food options Let me help "Stone Mountain Village Grow"
