Mac and cheese, salmon, steak frites
    Carly F.

Couldn't recommend this place enough. The steak frites and the salmon pictured were delicious as well as the Mac and cheese. The desserts are absolutely out of this world. Order all of them if you can, doesn't matter what it is they're all always so enjoyable. And whether you want to be inside, outside or at the bar there's no bad seats at this place. Every corner is cuter than the next, thoughtfully designed and set up like a friendly neighbors home ready to host. The multiple patio spots are so lovely for a nice day (and enjoyable patio fireplace for those brisk sub 70 SoCal days as well). The interior is so warm and inviting it instantly makes you feel comfortable and the bar is so enticing it always begs the question 'one more?' Clifton and Brenda were both so hospitable and attentive, and really make the experience dining at the Raymond everything it should be. They make you feel welcome and at home and a good restaurant is nothing without good people. Thank you to the whole Raymond team for always providing a lovely dining experience!

Special event menu. We were too busy eating to take food pics

Was doing a small customer group meeting at The Raymond 1886. Really nice vibe to it. I had the Skirt Steak and really enjoyed it along with some great desserts and coffee afterwards. The meetings and events people were great and our waitress Sam did a great job. Will come back again sometime.

I've been to The Raymond twice now, and really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back again soon. First and foremost - 5/5 for the service and ambiance. The hostess and our server (both occasions we dined here) were extremely friendly and really made our dining experience very enjoyable. Very lovely ambience. First time we came here was for my wife's birthday. We came for brunch and it happened to be Mother's Day Weekend. We were a bit bummed because the only reason I made reservations to have brunch here was specifically because they had Crab Cake Benedicts on the menu (my wife's favorite). However, when we arrived I noticed it was not on the menu. I asked our server and he mentioned it was removed literally only for that day, and replaced with a "special" Smoked Salmon Benedict. I really wish they had just added the Smoked Salmon Benedict as a special, rather than replace the popular Crab Cake offering all together. Anyhow - frustrations aside, we ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict, and honestly it was still very very good. My wife was happy with it and that's all that mattered lol. The smoked salmon was tasty, and the eggs were cooked perfectly, nice and runny for both of us. The potatoes were amazing. Very crispy! For dessert, we got the chocolate cookie skillet with the ice cream. I can't remember the exact name of it, but it was really good. Tip: ask for extra ice cream. The scoop it comes with is a little small compared to the size of the cookie. We still felt unfulfilled though, and so we came back 2 weeks later for brunch a 2nd time, and this time we called ahead to make sure they had the crab cake Benedicts back on the menu. Couldn't risk it! LOL. The crab cake Benedict was good. Maybe I set my expectations too high haha, but it was still good. My wife and I both ordered it. This time, my eggs were unfortunately way over cooked. I didn't want to complain or anything, so I just ate it. Luckily my wife's eggs were runny and cooked perfectly. Also the potatoes were not as crispy this time. Conclusion - The food is good. First time we came here it was better than the 2nd time, and this was only 2 weeks apart, and ordering basically the same thing, eggs Benedicts. As mentioned, 2nd time my eggs were over cooked. We still really LOVED dining here and definitely will be back soon to try their dinner since both times we came here was for brunch only. The ambience was really amazing truly. We've only sat on the patio, but it was very peaceful, not too loud, and felt quite romantic. Parking: There is valet, but both times we came for brunch (around 10:30am) and found street parking very close by. I would imagine street parking could be harder at different times of the day, but for early brunch there was plenty of street parking available.

Came here for an intimate wedding reception and it's definitely a vibe! We were seated outdoors and the weather was perfect. It was a preset menu so I went with the Caesar salad (could've used a bit more dressing, the ahi tostada which was very yummy, and the hangar steak which was delicious as well. I ended the meal with the butter cake which is a must!! I also got the poolside afterglow to drink which was super good also! It was busy of course for a Saturday night but we still received great service. Would definitely come back for a date night.

Sunday afternoons at The Raymond 1886 feel like stepping into a slower, more intentional world and this one was especially memorable. We started with a beautiful glass of pinot, light and smooth, the kind that lingers just enough to match the mood. The sourdough arrived warm, perfectly crusted, with butter that melted on contact simple, but done right. Our shared chicken salad was fresh and balanced, with that subtle char on the chicken that adds just enough depth without overpowering the greens. But honestly, as lovely as the food and patio were the dappled sunlight, the quiet hum of a Pasadena afternoon it was her company that made everything taste better, feel softer, and linger a little longer. Some places set the scene. This one just lets the moment happen...

Thank you, Ginger, and crew for making mine and my boyfriend's anniversary dinner one to remember! We initially arrived during social hour on the patio. We started with the Alien Pool Party and Charred Sunset, both were delish! Round 2 included the Stomazzi (perfectly refreshing) and 1886 Old Fashioned. You can tell how much thought went into each specialty cocktail, from the syrups to the ice (ask your server why!). The crudo and corn ribs caught our eye and the Brad & butter service was recommended to us; we opted to try all 3 and I'm glad we did. It was a great was to get a taste of the kitchen's range. The bread & butter service was the highlight of the appetizers, warm and fresh bread paired with a sweet and savory butter made fresh daily! Ended up staying through dinner service and I'm glad we did! I tried the chef's special of red snapper, served with a smile ;) My boyfriend got the steak frites, which was a great pairing with his whiskey drinks. To top off our celebration, we got dessert (do yourself a favor and try anything made by their pastry chef!!), an espresso, and glass of bubbly. SO, so happy we made our way to the Raymond, a true gem!

Wanted to give the place more, but it left a lot to be desired. All the meats had an overhwleming char flavor; especially the Steak Frittes and the Chicken Ceasar. The potato/steak ratio was something; you can barely see the steak on the plate. The Pepercorn sauce has no flavor and it felt like the steak wasnt seasoned at all. Also wish the charcuterie board game with a few more biscuits... its a lot of cheese and meet for 4 biscuits only. Definetly left the place loaded up on fries

I went here with my friends for the second time. This time, it was Mother's Day. The valet was very efficient. Best to come with reservation on special days like this. We shared had a Pinot Noir, recommended by our server which was very good. The charcuterie board enough to fill the gap while we waited for our main dinner. Everyone was please with what we ordered. Our server was there but laid back enough to freely enjoy our time without the pressure of being rushed. This restaurant is so cozy and friendly. There is enough outside sitting and they are open to guests dining with behaved pets. The menu had ample variety to please family guests and offer kids menu. They do have delicately prepared chef's special from steak to salads that can satisfy everyone's palette. We decided to have latte and their dessert special lemon mouse paired with a liqueur, it was so good!

Can I just say Wow! We went on Easter for dinner and took our mom and was slightly apprehensive as holidays can be a hit or miss. This was a hit! Service was amazing and our server was knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. The Easter menu was broad enough and the food was delicious. We had the pasta and braised short ribs; both were delicious. I am a picky cocktail connoisseur as I make my own and all of these were fresh and flavorful with fresh ingredients from banana to pomegranate. Dessert was delicious with a lemon semi-freddo and bread pudding that amazingly not too sweet. Oh appetizers were the burrata which was phenomenal and shrimp ceviche; we also had the tots with sauces which the hubs loved because of the crunch and I thought meh they are tots. Will be back soon and highly recommend as the setting is lovely and the food was great.

Limited lunch menu on Saturday, but something for everyone. Dinner menu starts at 4pm. Love the outdoor seating. Always great service, cocktails and food (thanks to our server "Janet " for her suggestions Parking can be tricky- they have Valet but they get busy. Plenty of street parking and it's hard to locate from the street (look for the big green hedge)

eggs your way: two eggs, applewood smoked bacon, crispy potatoes = $18

We recently celebrated my mom's birthday at The Raymond. The patio was nice and toasty ~ perfect for a rainy day brunch. I ordered the most simple thing on the menu: Eggs Your Way ($18). You get 2 eggs, apple wood smoked bacon + crispy potatoes. My waiter asked if I wanted to add a side of bread, however I did a hard pass when I realized it's a cool $7 for the add-on. My entree was good, though bread would have made it better. The potatoes were potato-ing. No complaints here. Everyone else liked their entrees okay - mostly minor nuances that really altered the taste of the dish. For example, the tomatoes were mushy in the chicken ($7) Caesar salad ($19). For $26 bucks, you'd hope the quality control could have been a little better. The chipotle hollandaise on the crab cake benedict ($26) was very, very tangy and intrusive taste wise. Food aside, Saturday morning brunch service was not the biz. There was one single waiter for the entire outside patio. No fault to him of course, but it felt clearly understaffed. Service was painstakingly slow. Fine, but not. On the flip side, they take brunch resys via Opentable.

dineLA menu at $65/person for three courses; optional $35/person wine pairing This was our first experience at The Raymond, and it was okay...could have been better. Our group of six was in on a busy night to partake in dineLA week. There was some confusion with orders, missed cocktails, and food/wine pairings were not served together, or the wrong wines came out with the food. Glassware was in short supply, and generally the service was below what I was expecting for this price range. Our waiter was new, very nice, but seemed a little lost at times. The manager did come by several times to assist and try to rectify the situation. We even got a visit at the end of the meal from Jesus R., Lead Chef, which was nice. One of our friends is a regular patron at The Raymond and he stated that they're known for their bar and cocktails, which didn't disappoint. The food was good, especially the appetizers, but I wasn't wowed by any of the entrees. The dineLA deal was reasonable, and I would give that another try. The restaurant itself is cozy, with several different indoor dining areas, and outdoor patio seating in the front, rear, and on the side. There's limited on street parking near the restaurant, however they do offer valet parking for $8.

First timer here and I knew I would love this place the second I arrived. It's like walking into a cozy home. This restaurant is so cute! We were seated near the fireplace and were taken care of by Jennifer. She was awesome!! Everyone we came across here was so friendly. Now for the food....everything was good! We started with the bread & butter. Bread had a nice crunch on the outside and soft on the inside, house made butters were yummy. Salad was fresh and good portion, steaks were cooked perfect! Will definitely be back.

The Alien cocktail is awesome! So cute (you get to take your little alien home) and absolutely delicious.

How much is the corkage fee currently if we bring our own bottle of wine?

$35 corkage fee per bottle. Maximum 2 750ml bottles.

While we were there, the Manager suggested trying their Steakhouse across the parking lot. We forgot the name of that Steakhouse? We would like to try!?

    Is the patio pet friendly?

Yes, our main patio is pet friendly.

Do they do complementary birthday/candle desserts?

Yes, they provided a small dessert with candle.

Do they still hold happy hour?

    Yes! Right now, it's Tuesday-Friday from 4:00-5:30pm.

How is the parking situation here?

The parking situation is great. There’s street parking for free, they have two small lots and valet. I’ve never needed valet.

What's the corkage fee? $25 for ea bottle. 3 bottle max.

    Sorry. I don't know

I was gifted a gift certificate by someone who moved out of state. Is the gift certificate transferable since it's in the person who moved out of state name?

    Do they have high chairs?

    Yes

    Do they have high chairs?

    Yes

    What's the corkage cost?

    $15 to $25

Do you need reservations for lunch?

I would recommend it, as you never know how busy they will be and cannot guarantee you'll get a table especially weekends

What menu items are available for vegans?

The Impossible Burger. They have salads and steak fries. They make the taco vegan but it's plain.

Bar seating different from the main dining area? We plan on enjoying Happy Hour and transition to dinner.

    What time is happy hour?

    Happy Hour: Tuesday - Friday 4pm - 7pm

Would it be too cold to sit on the patio for dinner right now in December?

It's covered and pretty well insulated...in my opinion, it's an all year 'round patio!

Do they show the dodger game?

    They don't have TVs

Where is the designated parking area? Or is valet the only option?

If you drive up into the driveway, the only option is valet, which I believe is still $5. Otherwise, there's plenty of free street parking in the area.

Is the 1886 bar indoors or out? Since, Friday is suppose to be over 100*, outside would be too hot, but won't the inside be too warm as well?

I'm a second-generation Irish-American from New York, and St. Patrick's Day has always meant something in my family. Growing up it was about heritage, family, and a little joy. Now that I have two daughters of my own -- very Irish-looking girls who are proud of their roots -- I wanted them to experience some of that same Irish pub spirit. So on St. Patrick's Day 2025, I took them to Griffin's of Kinsale in South Pasadena. They were so excited to be there -- the decorations, the music, the feeling of a real Irish pub. For a moment I thought, this is going to be a great memory for them. We came early because it was a school night. The restaurant was busy -- which is understandable on St. Patrick's Day. I ordered three salmon dinners for my daughters and myself. The bill came to about $150. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Over an hour and a half. During that entire time: * No one warned us the kitchen was backed up when we ordered. * No one checked on our table. * No updates. * No communication at all. Had someone simply said "Just so you know, food may take an hour or more tonight," I could have made a different decision -- especially with two kids who had school the next morning. Instead we sat downstairs watching the clock while the evening disappeared. By the end of the night my daughters -- who had been so excited walking in -- were tired, hungry, and miserable. When I asked to speak with a manager, no one came. No explanation. No apology. Restaurants get slammed on holidays. Kitchens fall behind. That happens. But ignoring a table for 90 minutes -- especially a family with children -- isn't a busy night. It's bad management. What should have been a fun St. Patrick's Day memory for my daughters turned into a long, uncomfortable evening where we felt completely invisible. For a place that trades so heavily on Irish identity and hospitality, this was about as far from hospitality as you can get. Save your $150 and celebrate St. Patrick's Day somewhere that actually wants you there. And if management would like to explain how a family ends up waiting 90 minutes with no communication, I'd genuinely be interested to hear it.

Grandma's Purse, which features miso-infused Suntory, butterscotch, and 5 spice, was surprisingly savory and not sweet. On the other hand, Wabbit Season, which features carrot, cumin and celery among its ingredients, was surprisingly sweet. Go figure. I enjoyed the novelty of those drinks but I probably would not get them again. I would be interested in trying out some of their other cocktails though.

As a I grew up in Highland Park I took my wife to visit The Arroyo Club bar to celebrate her recent promotion after the bar was recommended to us by a close friend. We were looking forward to a fun evening and decided to participate in the trivia game being hosted that night. After receiving an answer sheet from the host, Matt, my wife and I began playing. The trivia topic was based on an older television show that we were unfamiliar with, and we initially used our phones to look up answers. A male individual approached us and informed us that using our phones was considered cheating. We accepted that explanation, stopped using our phones, and continued playing. Later in the evening, I observed bartender Justin speaking with the same individual and appearing to provide him with answers. When I questioned how that was different from what we had been told not to do, Justin stated that it was not cheating because they were part of a group. I responded that it was only a game and not a serious issue, especially considering my wife and I had only accumulated a few points. At that point, the interaction became uncomfortable. Justin informed the host that my wife and I should be disqualified for cheating, despite the fact that we had stopped using our phones when instructed. The employee who had originally confronted us also became increasingly confrontational, which my wife and I found intimidating. I later asked another bartender, Zach, what the concern was, and he explained that the winning prize was $50. While I understand the importance of maintaining fair rules, the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily hostile and embarrassing. What made the experience even more disappointing was that we appeared to be the only minority guests present at the time, and we observed other patrons using their phones without being confronted. This left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. My wife attempted to discuss how the situation made us feel with a female bartender who had blue hair. Unfortunately, her reaction appeared dismissive, and our concerns did not seem to be taken seriously. As we prepared to leave, the employee who had initially confronted us remained nearby staring in our direction, which further contributed to our discomfort. For reference, we were seated at the right corner of the bar if you were facing the bar from the front. I am not seeking compensation. Rather, I hope management will review the events of that evening, including any available security footage and discussions with staff members present. No guest should leave feeling targeted, embarrassed, or unwelcome while simply trying to enjoy a night out celebrating a special occasion.

Had a dinner reservation with some girlfriends celebrating two of their birthdays. The restaurant itself isn't too big but it does a pack a nice punch. Cute patio out front that takes some of the sidewalks and streets. Plenty of heat lamps which helped with the chilly nights. We got seated at one of the tables on the patios which was nice. Didn't really utilize inside area except for the restroom which it's quite cute in there. The rooms were pretty well decorated and executed. Nice bar area too. Like mentioned, we got seated on the patio and the heat lamps were great. Down to the menus, it's quite limited on dishes. Seemed like there were more shared plates versus the entrees. Drinks, it was fairly decent with their cocktails and wine. Service at the beginning was great. The staff were amazing and very friendly. We didn't order right away as we were still waiting for the last one to show. But did start off with some drinks. It didn't take that long for the first round which was nice. Food wise, the shared plate was a mixture of everything. Some of the olives, which is exactly what it is. The Belgian fries, nice thick cut fries with shredded pecorino cheese and a nice aioli sauce. We ended up getting a second order of it. The albacore tuna crudo was a hit which was really tasty. Chili ginger relish, mint and shallot, can't go wrong with that. Lastly the meatballs, tasty and very great for sharing. Entrees, the pan seared sea bass which I loved. Portion is pretty tiny which also seemed like they were a shared plate. Almost tapas styled. Nice chimichurri sauce and a side salad. The chicken Milanese also with a side salad of arugula. Simple dish but quite tasty. One of the salads that was somewhat hyped up by the waitress but it was just a salad. Decent but nothing major to rave about...lol... also the confit oyster mushrooms was major hit. Something that simple but quite tasty. And lastly the pan con tomate, rustic sourdough with tomatoes and burrata. Tasty as well. Overall the meal was good. From there, the second round of drinks did take a long time to arrive and with then plates that we shared, trying to get someone to clear the plates was another thing. Took a long for someone to clear the table before more items came. Even when the entrees came, all the empty starter plates were still there. And if someone did clear the plates, some was still left on the table. Finishing off the night, we did have the dessert which we tried all three. As it was two of our girlfriends birthday, they brought out a little bubbly for us to celebrate with the dessert. That was quite sweet and nice. Honestly opinion with the dessert, they were just ok. Nothing major to rave about. We tried all three on the menu and they were just ok. Overall, the food was great. Service was nice and the staffs were all very friendly. It did take a while for plates to get cleared from the table and second round did take a while, but it was manageable. It was a sweet gesture with the bubbly with the dessert which was greatly appreciated. The place is nice and great for catching up. Menu is limited and portions are quite small. You would have to get a good amount for sharing. Entrees, depending on what you order is small as well. But we enjoyed ourself.

Would it kill them to add a veggie burger? Service is consistently awful. I've been here half a dozen times and I've never had good service. Drinks and water are never refilled unless I ask. It takes forever to get our order and once we do our server disappears. Seriously so bad. But I keep coming back for their good food.

Because this is a hotel bar since it's situated in The Langham 5-star luxury hotel, the drinks are expensive like $25 starting. One of my friends got a lemon-based mocktail (pretty good) and I got Cosmopolitan-type cocktail with Prosecco (pretty solid and not overly sweet, just not one of the best cocktails I tried). Another friend ordered Negroni, which is a potent cocktail with a bitter sharp, dry aftertaste. I could hardly taste any hint of sweetness in the drink. My friend thought it was too bitter, too. Honestly, for me it tastes just as bitter as a Manhattan, probably because both cocktails incorporate sweet vermouth. 3 stars for the poor customer service and wait time for standing in line to order drinks. There were 2 or 3 bartenders and they were rushing but also seemed like they weren't efficiently helping customers with drinks in a timely manner. The lounge area was meh (super limited seat spots) and the vibes were bland despite coming here on New Year's Eve. Definitely an older demographic that frequents this bar, not that it's a bad thing, just not our vibe since it would've been more fun if there other people closer to our age, so we decided to bar hop elsewhere after.

We sat inside the restaurant but you can also reserve outdoor seating. The staff was very welcoming and too the time to explain the menu to us. Their dishes are shareable and I suggest about 4-5 dishes for a party of three. Off their menu we ordered the fried calamari, the buttermilk biscuits, yellow fin tuna tartare, the fideos clams and the barbecue chicken. Everything was delicious but our favorite was the buttermilk biscuits! Please keep in mind that the biscuits take about 20 minutes to make so please order in advance. Overall the food and ambiance were delightful and I can't wait to go back! For parking, there is street parking around the area but may be difficult since there are quite a few restaurants around sharing rhe space. The way we were greeted and shown to our seats, you would have thought we were VIPs. Everyone was so friendly to us, and made us feel extremely welcomed. I truly think that every staff member we walked by from the door to our bar seats said hello and welcomed us to the restaurant. I don't know how to describe the level of service other than it was Masterclass. Special thank you to Wolf, our bartender/server a the upstairs bar. Yes his name is Wolf, and he's just as awesome as his name. So friendly and attentive. As for food, Wolf recommended we try the biscuits and I'm so glad he did because it was not something that I would have ordered had it not been for him. Literally the best biscuits I've ever had in my entire life. There is no other biscuit that comes close. It's exactly as it is described on the menu... flaky and buttery. It's an experience, truly. Even if biscuits were not what you thought you were going to order, just get them anyways. You have to try them. Just do it. GET THE BISCUITS! Other than the biscuits, we got the following: Calamari - some of the best I've had in awhile. Crunchy and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Cooked perfectly. Hanger Steak - I didn't specify the doneness but it came rare which was perfect for me. The steak was great, I enjoyed every bite, but the mashed potatoes were EPIC lol. Burger & Fries - The fries in particular were amazing. HUGE portion, very crispy, and well seasoned. As for the burger, I liked the simplicity of it. However, I think it was way over cooked. I personally like my burgers to be a bit more juicy and medium doneness. The Bill - beware of the 4% surcharge. I don't really understand these things. Just price the food how you want to price it rather than adding a 4% surcharge to the final bill. Also, their suggested tip is calculated using the Total including tax rather than the subtotal. So basically you're tipping the tax lol. So aside from the bill and a little underwhelming burger everything else was absolutely incredible.
