BOOKING AGENTS BEWARE: The staff at The Rebel Lounge (with the exception of the bartenders) is incredibly rude and unprofessional. I attended the Young and Out of Love Tour last night, which drew a crowd of teens, families, and friends supporting up-and-coming musicians. Rather than fostering a welcoming atmosphere, the hostess, bouncers, and staff were unnecessarily dismissive and rude toward the parents in attendance. This is a small venue, which could have made for an intimate and enjoyable experience, but the poor treatment from staff completely ruined the vibe. It was absolutely ridiculous and showed a complete lack of understanding of the audience. If you're planning a show, consider a more professional and accommodating venue like The Crescent Ballroom. They understand how to treat both artists and guests with respect. Skip The Rebel Lounge--it's not worth the hassle. read more

OK guys I might have been wrong. The Rebel Lounge is an accessible, small venue that seems to house all the more obscure music genres. Darkwave? Here. Emo? Here. Math Rock? Absolutely. Basically they book everything I pat myself on the back for listening to. Bar is way better than before as well. If you want something fresh, definitely check out their calendar! Just beware: parking is practically nonexistent, so maybe take an Uber. read more

A pretty solid venue. I saw The Casualties and G.B.H here and It was incredible how close you can get to the stage and how low the stage is. They also have 80's nights here Friday's. They have three different kinds, you can look at their schedule online to find out when each one is. There's no cover at any of them. Beer is $5 which isn't bad and they have a decent selection. I came for the regular "1984! Nite" and they played Depeche Mode, Sisters of Mercy, Echo & the Bunnymen, Killing Joke, March Violets, Clan of Xymox, Joy Division, and The Cure. They also have a "1984! Pop Nite" which they play the lighter side of the 80's like Blondie, and Duran Duran. And they have a "Nu/flesh Nite" where they play darker music like darkwave and industrial (e.g Skinny Puppy). This October there will also be a dark formal dance/goth formal where they will play that type of music. The intimate stage for punk shows and the variety of 80's nights is what continually brings me back. They also provide a complimentary water stand so you can help yourself and don't have to constantly ask bartenders for water. This is quite a special place. The only negative is that the bathrooms usually run out of toilet paper pretty quickly so just be sure to ask an employee to check it out when it happens and they'll take care of it. Also, it doesn't have an outrageously beautiful aesthetic interior like some of the similar venues in Phoenix (e.g. Stacy's @ Melrose), it's pretty plain. But at least there's free seating, and a lot of room to dance! read more

Very cool venue. Death metal is my thing, and I have seen a lot of shows in a lot of great venues, but this last show at the rebel lounge was honestly the best show I've been to due to the size and sound quality. Drove all the way from Vegas to see the show and I was a little nervous about the area and venue but it was great all the way around. The staff was patient and friendly, as were the bartenders. Incantation and suffocation were the headliners and the sound quality melted faces. Thanks for supporting death metal, I'll definitely be back! read more

My questions were answered thoroughly and I was given helpful information that I did not even ask for. I was very impressed to see how this venue truly cares for their attendees. One #EmoNitePhx show had me hooked to The Rebel Lounge. I signed up for their weekly/daily newsletter after to stay informed, and it looks like the owner never sleeps with how many shows he has playing there each week. Although 90% of the bands I've never heard of are advertised, it's cool to see that the venue is quite busy... and occasionally a well-known national band plays there. It's definitely what you'd consider an "intimate" venue.... at a recent concert I was mere inches away standing in the front row from the band! They have a pretty good sound system - even from the smoker's lounge outside you can hear music pretty well. Would definitely recommend bringing earplugs as a CYA for your EARS... Emo Nite's can be a little louder than other concert nights. Drinks are a little on the expensive side for what it is, but they gotta make some money somehow. At least they give out free water. And it's a clean place! TLDR: Support your local music venues like this place. read more

This is the worst venue ever. Every time I've been here something went bad. If a show is sold out, try announcing it rather than having people wait over an hour in line to figure out. At least I don't have to deal with the bartenders DEMANDING tips after openly insulting patrons, which is the standard experience here. read more

Love that they repurposed this music venue to a coffee house. Was here day 3 of coffee shop operations and would def give five stars. GREAT, local roasted coffee (yes, Central Phx friends Gilbert IS local)! Friendly staff and knowledgeable on all things coffee. We ordered cortados - which a lot of places aren't even aware of - and it was perfectly done without hassle. We had the pumpkin something pop tart which was AMAZING. Thought I posted pics but don't see them so I'll share again. Get here. Buy local. Support this shop and make sure this place that gives us two great products - music and coffee - makes it through present time and is here to stay. read more

Went to a show a couple days ago and this establishment has zero parking! We ended up having to go home to park the car and uber! Not a great first experience. When we asked the security guards where to park, they said anywhere! When we decided to park on the streets behind the venue- we saw cops giving tickets to everyone!!! Why didn't they tell us not to park there!? If you go to this bar and see a show-- def uber!!!! Drinks and prices were excellent tho. read more

I've been coming to this place since I moved here and not once have I had a bad experience. Last night shocked me. My roomate bought a drink and he had to run to go pee and left me at the counter. so I signed his receipt. Granted that's on me for doing that, but the response after was absolutely nasty. She literally went on stage and tracked him down after his bathroom break and started screaming at him from the fucking stage. How fucking embarrassing. She was so nasty regarding the situation which was absolutely not needed. Completely ruined the vibe and once I went to the manager regarding it he did not give a flying fuck lol? Yeah I know what I did wasn't right and my fault but that was absolutely no fucking way to treat someone, idgaf if he didn't tip you or not that's NO way to treat someone. You should politely pull him to the side to correct the issue not literally get on stage and start screaming at him in front of a whole crowd. I don't think I'll ever be back after this experience. First visit here as part of Phoenix Design week but I am pretty sure I'll be back. They really accommodated us with a food truck in the parking lot and rearranging chairs for us to first hear storytellers and then the band. Our bartender was super friendly and I was quite surprised when I can back for a second drink and she remembered my quirky order (no straw, no lime). We loved the @barflys storytelling and also the Afrobeats. Great night organized by #PHXDW but kudos to the Rebel Lounge for great service and flexibility. We'll be back. read more

Good place to catch a show and have a few drinks . The stage is low so you can get up close to the performers. . I imagine it was loud - earplugs would be a good call if you are not sure . Sound was great . Long bar , good staff - Attentive and no drama . Crowd decent . Small parking area but you can park just down the street on the road . There is seating away from the stage area . Band merchandise was by entrance/exit . Would definitely return. read more

I purchased 3 tickets for Leanna Firstone as a surprise for my daughter. I don't know if they oversold the venue, but I let the kids go first, and once all of them had gotten in.. I went in... mistake.. this place does not provide any space for ADA people, I could not get to a space with a chair.. couldn't even push my way to the bathroom.. I had to give up my ticket and am right now sitting in the parking space, waiting for it to be over.. horrible management, safety and ADA completely ignored read more

My kids and I attended a show here in April and had the best time! The venue is intimate allowing for a very different concert experience. The sound was amazing and the bands and patrons all had a great time! The bar was great providing very quick service and service with a smile. The drinks were also reasonably priced. I had an opportunity to interact with the manager who was great. After the acts were done with their sets hung out afterwards to meet their fans. It was a great experience! If a band you like is playing here grab your tickets and enjoy your show! You'll be glad you do. read more

I came here for Screamo night on February 5th. It was my first time ever coming to this place after so many recommendations and I regret not coming here sooner, I hope to come back here for any Goth, Emo and Screamo nights, I met some cool people and hope to see them again. I went to see Meg Myers's there and it was a sold out show. The stage is too low to see the musician if you are not 6ft tall or in the first two rows. They need a new sound technician. The bass was too loud and muffled the vocals. The lighting was from behind the artist blinding the audience. Shows that are all ages, you have to be away from the stage behind a barrier, so if you got there early and get front row, you aren't going to want to leave to grab a drink. It was nice that they did offer free water and ear plugs. Once this place hit capacity, you could hardly move. It's a shame she was booked at this venue as it was too small for her. read more

Came here last night for an amazing poetry slam. The vibe and crowd were amazing! Really enjoyed every artist that came through the door. The rebel hosts tons of local and regional musical artists, bands, and poets and welcomes new artists as well. The lounge area in the back has ample space for tables and a side bar wraps around to the front. The staff is very friendly--from the bartenders to the security--they are welcoming and genuinely want you to be there. As you enter the rebel you are greeted by a small stage and a few rows of chairs. The venue is very intimate and no matter where you sit or stand you get an amazing view of the stage. The bathrooms are clean and nice and as you leave you are able to check out all of the upcoming artists coming to their venue via posters. Definitely will be checking out this spot again when I am in Phoenix!! read more

I'll join with the other reviewers and say that it is great to see this famous music venue back in business. The new sound system they have in place is fantastic and the venue has been updated. The staff was friendly and the beer was cold. However, others have pointed out the lack of seating as an issue and they are right. This place could really use some tables and chairs as the only seats are the stools at the bar. This is way too big a place to just have open floors. We were there to see Sundressed and Merit for their release show and both rocked the house. I would recommend you check out these awesome local bands. read more

I came to The Rebel Lounge to see some local musicians play and support my friend who was providing lighting effects. However, I ended up having such a killer time! More than I was initially expecting. The ambiance in here is really chill. After you pass through ticketing the first thing you see is the lit stage and whoever's playing. Undoubtedly, there will be people swaying in front of it. The rest of the room is dimly lit but not blacked out. Very cozy. I was quite happy with the bar situation. Unlike the overpriced downtown scene in Sacramento, you can get some well mixed drinks here for a reasonable price. While I was here I grabbed 3 drinks for $6 each. As far as I know there wasn't any happy hour discounts going on. Staff here are very friendly. The bartender helped me pick out drinks I would like instead of leaving me with something nasty. So if you're interested in a chill evening with friends, I recommend you come here! (Additionally, there's a Filberto's next door so if you skipped dinner there are options!) read more

I was tipping with each drink so when I closed my tab I didn't tip and the male bartender screamed at me trying to embarrass me and got very aggressive towards me when I said I did tip and called me names as well I'll never go back read more

Andy Fransco & the U.N. on Tuesday, 9/14 was absolutely stellar! Drink prices were good. Other than that, this place will need to start taking it's customers into consideration & running the entrance process more efficiently before I come back. The show was pushed back an hour. No worries, it happens. However, the delay was not communicated on social media, by the ticketing company or promoter. Nothing, nada, zilch. People that ride shared were stuck, as were people that didn't live close. This left people to sit outside for a good hour plus, in record heat, to get in, with no offering of water, drinks, nothing. After the hour delay, you now have to stand for another 30-45 minutes in the world's longest & worst run line to check in. A process that could've taken place while people were already waiting for over an hour, outside. I can only imagine how long it will take to get into this place when Covid safety protocols are being followed. Management - I suggest you work smarter & more customer focused, by communicating changes more efficiently, and checking people in that are already waiting outside, and slapping a wristband or stamp on them, or other indicator that they're ready to enter the venue, as a means to streamline your currently abysmal entrance process. I didn't get what was taking so long, to check an id and ticket for so few people, especially when there were no less than 3 employees working the front door. I've never waited this long, even at shows in Vegas, and larger venues in the Phoenix area. The show had already started by the time we got in the door. first and last time at the rebel lounge. came for an all ages show. I couldn't step outside in between sets because im not 21, which makes absolutely no sense. I was trying to go out to sit down because there's no seating except in the bar and I didn't want to sit on the floor and get stepped on. bottom line: don't have an all ages show if you can't provide equal or fair treatment for those under 21. the acoustics in there suck. the security is absolutely ridiculous and rude. if you're reading my review and know of a better place for the punk rock scene in phoenix let me know. read more
