the food here is ok , nothing special. the place is clean, but there is 1 thing I have a problem with and don't agree with, on a party of 5 ( supposed to be 6 or more ) they charged me gratuity, which might I add is usually 18 percent but they just went for the whopping 20 percent on the bill , which is fine if they want to do that but the thing that really got me is they also added gratuity on to my bar bill, which is outrageous. The alcohol is already marked up 300 percent so they're making money on that and then they add 20 percent gratuity on a bar bill as well as food bill? What a fun place! I had heard about this bar from friends and family but since I live far I never really got a chance to go until a few nights ago. You won't get lost getting there because it has a real red cadillac right in front of it! That, right there, is so cool. Once inside the restaurant you notice the red ambient lighting - again, pretty cool! They have a young waitstaff who are happy, courteous and informative. I wasn't crazy about the parking because it was packed and no spots were left at 7:30 on a Thurs night but I was able to find a spot across the street from the bar. I love how they had a large pitcher of water right on our table so we could serve ourselves as we needed. The food was very yummy. My mom had the garlic shrimp which was to die for! Def recommend. I had the chicken fajitas which were a little dry but nonetheless very good. For dessert we had the churros with chocolate dip and ice cream! Can you say yum? I didn't get a chance to sample the drinks because I was driving a long way home but maybe next time I will. Overall it was a happy place where we could talk loud, laugh and catch up on life. The manager kept walking around looking at all the tables - I assume to make sure everyone was being served and happy. I like it when management is readily available in case of issues. If the owners are reading this, would you consider opening up in Flemington too? Its up and coming and we are looking for unique places like your bar. From the greeting at the door, to the pleasant hostess, to the attentive bartender and the friendly waitstaff-- everyone was great. You don't often get that level of politeness and it has an impact. As for the food and drinks... maybe even better. We got a seat at the bar and waited the 30 mins for our table. There was a singer in the lounge area - very cool. Don't worry about a freebie here, so I can write the review. Minutes before "Happy Hour", we are charged the full price. Bartender over poured a "coconut tequila" shot and took the overage back out! My husband and I love this place, we were just there on Saturday. They had a 45 minute wait, so we sat at the bar and had some drinks, chips and salsa. Another 10 minutes for her to come back and let our party know the specials. We placed our order but never received our drinks or appetizers. Our food came out fairly quickly and was delicious. Went here for the first time last night. I was waiting for my friend to arrive, so I went to the bar for a few drinks. Joe and Kevin took great care of me. I am a tequila guy and they know their stuff. The house margarita was good, i get mine on the rock with salt. They have a list of in house made flavored tequilas!! Just wow, I had the ginger lemongrass, hibiscus, and peanutbutter and jelly, and I would rate them in that order too. Went to our table, my friend and I split 2 orders of tacos, fish and ropa vieja, both good. You can ask for them to make it spicy and it had a nice kick, without blowing your tastebuds away. We split a flan for dessert and it was good, on the firmer side of flans. Service at the table was good, but there were 3 servers who seemed to take turns interchangeably, so no one of them stood out to me. This is a fun place!! Going back soon. Wasn't a fan . The forced vallet is ridiculous . No one seemed to know what they were doing . Servers seemed lost . Had a round of drinks bought for us they were all added to our tab . Their signature margarita with a corona placed inside was chipped . The frozen flavored margaritas were so sweet we barley drank them. I did try the infused pineapple tequila that was much better . A guy performing with a guitar was quite entertaining . The nachos n Salsa were complimentary nothing to rave about . The bathrooms were past the center of bar down a step with two stalls . Huge issue if the place were to get busy . Very dim lit and I'd probably never go back . Mediocre service , better drinks and all in all not a great first experience . Red caddy is sort of my local watering hole, I'm surprised it took me this long to write a review. Basically red caddy is kind of a hidden gem in the township of Union. Not the best food but also not the worst, it's decent and good for what it is, but the tacos after 10 pm are a good satisfier for your late night taco, cheesy craving....you go here for 3 things, tacos, ambience and tow trucks (just go on ahead and order one, preferably strawberry of you're into that) but nothing beats the quick and helpful staff here. Celebrated my birthday with friends which happened to be on Cinco de Mayo Family owned restaurant and delicious food. You can see the love in every dish served to customers. Waiters waitresses hostess bartenders and staff were doting service oriented and didn't allow a glass to be empty. Festive playful ambiance and music was outstanding Dave Alen band. Ordered takeout one Sunday night - 3 burritos and a fajita. The person who took my order said it would be ready in about 30 minutes. When I arrived at the restaurant about then, I was told it would only be a few more minutes. I then had to wait for almost another 30 minutes - a whole hour after I ordered - before the food came out. A friend and I Arrived on a weekday evening and the place was not pack so we were sat promptly. The decor is pretty cool as a concept but so think worried me. For example, the water is poured from gas container and just wonder how they clean they when they must. Also service was kept disappearing right when we need something. Our Vegetarian party of five came to the Red Cadillac to celebrate a birthday. We noticed that all of the main entrées were served with beans and rice and inquired if they were prepared vegetarian. We were reassured MULTIPLE times by our waitress that the sides of rice and beans which are half of the main entrées were vegetarian, however after all five of us (vegetarians)ordered our meals we discovered that they were indeed not. The beans were prepared with bacon and the rice was cooked in chicken broth. This left us each with only half of our meals to eat. Had we been properly informed, we would have avoided the main entrées, and chosen a mix of vegetarian appetizers and salads. We asked to speak to the manager to make him aware of the situation.The manager, George, was very immature and inexperienced, and certainly lacking in customer service. He was not only unapologetic, but he was extremely rude. He said only "well what you were able to eat was good right?". He did not offer even the slightest apology, discount or even a complimentary dessert for our disappointing experience of a birthday meal. The check for the five of us was over $100 and 50% of the food could not be eaten due to their misinformation. I would DEFINATELY never give them my business again for how we were treated. read more

First opinions last the entire evening. I was met at the door by a pleasant woman who held the door open and told me they have a no hat policy. I was perplexed because I saw people wearing hoodies and a super casual atmosphere. I asked the bartender why the no hat policy? He said they have a no jersey, hat and timberland boots policy. His reason was certain types of people like to wear that stuff. I was even more confused by this comment. Is Red Cadillac a racist place? They definitely don't enforce this rule because a black woman behind me at a table of 4 was wearing a hat. The food was really good. The service is really good as well. After you're seated you have a drink server and a food server. This speeds up the service time. I love the flow of the service. I ordered their special of strawberry/jalapeño glazed chicken tacos. I requested corn tortillas and they had no problem with my request. The chicken was fried nuggets that reminded me of general tso's style chicken. My girlfriend had the cheese and veggie enchiladas which were above average. We ordered guacamole at the bar and it was slightly chilled in a tortilla bowl surrounded by chips. It was above average. Nothing exceptional, but good. They have a decent selection of drinks but a bit pricey. The beer selection is below par...I'm a beer snob. I have been spoiled by the recent micro beer boom of late. I had XX Ambar in a bottle. The decor is great for conversation. This place can get really busy as we were told at 6 p.m. there was a 45 minute wait for our table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5+ on the weekends. We sat at the bar for about 25 minutes before we were seated. I'm only giving this place 3 stars because of why the no hat rule...not because of the rule itself. It really bothered me. Absolutely horrible. We WERE regulars there until today. It's 95 degrees out and we have a baby and they refused service to us because I'm wearing a tank top! Cmon, you have plants growing out of tires in the parking lot it's not a fancy place at all. You serve water out of gas cans. Don't embarrass yourself trying to act fancy. You made a regular customer feel like a complete idiot for wearing a tank top to your restaurant in 95 degree weather. I am updating my review of this restaurant, a year later, and upgrading it to 5 stars? Why?This place does not have as many vegetarian options as I would like. But I'm going there a lot now because of the live music on Friday and Saturday nights, the excellent service, and the atmosphere. It gets a little expensive on two fronts: one is that the food is a little pricier here, and two, the service is so good so I tip kind of high. I can see why reviews of this place are conflicting. If you're going out for ambiance, Red Cadillac delivers on design and has a fun, loungy feel. However, it lacks the quality restauant experience you'd expect for its pricing. Food is average and overpriced. Margarita was too sweet and weak. It is more schtick than service...falling in the trendy zone where we likely won't return. This spot hasn't figured out its customer service formula yet. A hostess seated my group of 6. Another served water. A waiter took our drink orders. Another waiter told us the specials. And then a different staff member served our meals, having no idea who got what. When one of the servers accidentally knocked over a full beverage that spilled all over my friend and her seat, there were apologies and quick clean-up, but no offer to make it up to her.
