I went on a Wednesday night, which was ladies night and they have drink specials. The daiquiri actually taste like strawberry instead of just red dye so I did enjoy that. I did VIP parking which was $10 and the music starts getting good at 12 AM and then they close at two. If you come before that time, the music is more 90s R&B which I wasn't really feeling but overall it was cool. The 2-3 times that I've been to the Red Rooster, I had a blast!!! It's known to be an "old skool" crowd but there's another part for the younger folks. Recently, celebrated my friend's 55th birthday. Had an absolute blast. Both djs, younger side and older side, were both great. The best part of all is: FREE PARKING. FREE PARKING. FREE PARKING. FREE PARKING. I appreciate that so much because these places nowadays charge too much for parking then want a cover charge. However, here, parking is free but there is a $10 cover charge. Seemed like the bar service was not want I'm used to: I'm use to approaching the bar and being greeted by the bartender, wherever I was, however this lady seemed to work only one area lol no biggie. One side is more for the older crowd playing r&b, music you can step ans line dance to and the other side for the reap/hip-hop lovers to dance to. Go back and forth as much as you want. Spacious venue and plenty of parking... there's plenty of free parking in a parking lot . I parked around the corner and almost got confused because there was another bar and lounge in the area maybe two of them. There is a security guard that rides around on a golf cart which is good because the parking lot is not well lit and can seem a bit sketchy. The Red Rooster has a cover charge and a strict dress code. Can't quite remember how much the cover charge was maybe 5 maybe $10. There's someone sitting at the door as you can turn to collect your cover charge. Pictures on the wall indicate that red rooster has been around for a very long time. It had apparently been the local Hangout since before most of us could say hangout. It seems like it's an iconic presence in Houston area and doesn't seem to be going anywhere. In other words, these folks know how to have a good time and know how to throw a good party. Once you walk in you have the option to go left or right 2 two different dance floors. There's a huge bar in the middle of the Dance Floor on the left. And when you go into the room on the right there's an ice ice bar there as well. On the dance floor in the left there is a nice a stage where I assume they have bands and concerts, but folks just sometimes get up there and dance. This place is a very nice size and that it can hold quite a bit of people. On the side as well, the DJ plays more mature music. So the age range for the type of music would be 50 year olds and above. On the dance floor and the right with a nice size bar there is a huge step up area which looks like it could be a stage surrounded by mirrors. The DJ plays music that's more liking to younger crowd. However some of the 50-year olds like that music as well so are all throughout the club. There is no re-entry fee or entry fee for the right-side. Altogether, this is a nice size venue with great parking for those that are 50 and older and love to dance and see others their age. This was my first time here and it was for an event. read more

I had never been to the Red Rooster before, but that all changed once I found out that legendary R&B crooner Keith Washington would be putting on a free concert there on 2/27/19. The first thing I noticed once I walked in was that the Red Rooster is a grown folks night club. Nearly everyone was dressed up ( men and women). Meanwhile, I stuck out like a sore thumb, because I looked like I was going to Hip Hop concert. Hey, I didn't know. I found out Keith Washington was in town last minute, so I had to choose an ensemble that was wrinkle free and good to go. I liked the set up of Red Rooster. It was refreshing to actually see a dance floor, and get this, people were dancing on it too. In this era of sectioned out night clubs, to see an official dance floor is a rarity. And the Red Rooster has two of them, one dance floor in each room. While I was posted up in the main room, I had one mature lady call me out. She probably figured I was some youngin that she was going to walk out to the dance floor and show me a thing or two. Once we got out to that dance floor though. I had to show her what that bump N grind life is all about. I'm young, but I'm seasoned! She held her own though. She earned my respect. The live band was on point. The Deejays played great R&B music and some classic hip hop in the second room. There was a free buffet, and the atmosphere was friendly as can be.I had a good time at Red Rooster and Keith Washington crooned like only he can! Red Rooster is a nice, sociable, and mature alternative to the typical nightclub of today, where people post up in sections and look at one another all night long. They dance there. Nice size- 2 "separate clubs" inside- one for the young crowd, and one for the old school. I prefer old school so I was right at home. Lots of seating available if you are there before 11pm. Drinks were good, great food truck options outside. I live in Austin but whenever I'm in Houston I hit this club on a Saturday night. Had a great time for my bday last week. My Aunt booked a table for her party a few months ago (she's in her 50s). They placed her table on the "young side" - by the time they moved her to the old school side the tables were filled up.
