This place is INCREDIBLE. everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The crab cakes were light and fluffy - and paired perfectly with the caper sauce. Nice little find for lunch. Burger very good. It said it was served with frites, so I was expecting long, thin Belgium /French style fries, but got the thick American ones instead. Despite that, they were still very tasty. I'm knocking one star off because the toilets are mixed... Totally gross - when there are two lavatories available, why can one not be for women only and the other men only? I don't appreciate having to lower the toilet seat from the prior visitor, who left urine "splashes" all over the bowl and floor. It's especially not nice when you have a toddler in tow who tries to touch everything. Please fix this. read more

So good! My husband and I seriously enjoyed our dinner! Our waitress was very pleasant and helpfully informative when choosing a wine. I ate the duck... Delicious! Need I say more?! I normally do not eat dessert but I knew it would be worth it and I was right! I had tiramisu and it was the best I've seriously ever had! We love this place on Wednesday nights. They only have sushi on the menu. The appetizers are wonderful. Our favorites are the shrimp tempura & the pork fried dumpling. There are five or six different sushi rolls on the menu and we have tried all of them. We have enjoyed all of the rolls with the Philadelphia roll being our favorite. The owners are the chef & waitress and do an outstanding job of taking care of their guest. This is a great place to go out with friends and enjoy the evening with good food, good wine and great atmosphere . Small town Texas at its best!!!! read more

Found this little place because of Yelp while driving between Houston and Boerne. We were a little leery but the food was out of this world! We were there on Thursday which was Italian night. The menu is limited but that just means each dish is done right. We started with the crab cake appetizer and lapped up all the sauce with the homemade French bread. Hubby got veal piccata and I got the chicken piccata. Both were great but my chicken won because it was so moist and tender. We might have to stop on the way back to Houston also. read more

This is a very good restaurant. We went for Saturday lunch and had the special, which is fried chicken. Perfectly cooked, excellent seasoning, and the pomme frites and vegetable sides were delicious as well. We also tried the house salad, the vinaigrette was awesome. The soup of the day was beef vegetable and it was incredible. If you are in the neighborhood and looking for a delicious meal you won't be disappointed. We will return. read more

Everything is made to order and the vast majority of the food served is organic (even though they don't advertise that). Wednesdays is 'Sushi Night' - a delightful surprise. Owners Gabriel and Elizabeth are absolutely wonderful and it's clearly their desire to ensure you have the best possible experience. They lovingly transformed the building when first coming to Flatonia several years ago, then sadly their beautiful restaurant was devastated by fire last year...never ones to give up, they started all over again and have reinvented themselves and made a miraculous come back where many others would have given up. It's rare these days to find a truly independent restaurant and to find one with such a unique narrative is heartwarming. Christmas Eve diner at the Red Vault was just plain wonderful. Between the five of us we had the rack of lamb, the filet with Gorgonzola sauce, and the sea bass. All were truly excellent, as were the various appetizers and salads. The Pinot Noir on special as just fine and attractively priced. Service was friendly, as one would expect in a small Texas town, but still very competent as befits the bistro setting and cuisine. Gabriel and Elizabeth have created a real gem, one that makes the long drive to Austin for serious food unnecessary. read more

Really great restaurant - the sea bass was amazing and the rest of the dishes came close. The space is small and very interesting. There were some 'small restaurant' blues - they were out of a few things on the menu - but we all left there raving about it. If this is anywhere near you - go! Wasn't sure the reviews were blowing smoke up my shorts but wanted something better than fast food for lunch. So we stopped here to pick up the grandbaby and we're definitely glad we did. Everyone was nice and the food was excellent. I know when we take the grandbaby back we will stop in and eat again. It's nice to get off the highway and find gems like this in small towns. We are here for work around Flatonia , I always get on yelp to find a place to eat . I notice this little restaurant with a wonderful chef . In Flatonia ! No way . I had to check this place out . A wonderful , lovely woman met us and sat us down . Love the decor , I ordered the crab cakes and a Caesar salad . My god they where delicious . My co worker had a hamburger , he said the best he ever had. The Hostess, waitress, owner sat with us , she was all three! Wonderful woman , kind, sincere .
