IN 01-2024 Red Wagon Bar & Grill in Poseyville Indiana Tony & I stopped for lunch outside of St Louis. The food was terrific and homemade The building location is right off the interstate and is huge. Tony and zi both had the special. Chicken Breast lightly fried with mashed potatoes & Gravy, green beans, Mac n cheese with a roll & butter. I had unsweetened tea and he had Budweiser Food and service was great!!

    Over half empty

we were told it would be a 25 minute wait. We waited 38 minutes even though there was a constant supply of empty tables of all sizes. It was completely ridiculous. Then we waited 30 minutes for our food. The place literally was not busy. Check out the video of my roll.

Great place to stop for a road trip from St. Louis to Louisville. It about hits the halfway mark of the trip. Food was pretty good. Ordered their special lunch steak sandwich on the way to Louisville and on the way back I got the buffalo chicken Sandwich? They called it a sandwich, but it was basically just some chicken and cheese on toast. Fairly tasty, but it did not come with any sides and it was not too filling. I hear that their desserts here are wonderful. Will need to try that the next time I come.

Stopped for breakfast! Good food, friendly and fast service. Not many places to stop along the interstate. Would for sure stop again on the way through. Plenty of parking. Nice small town feel inside. Comfortable atmosphere.

Stopped here on our huge family road trip through 16 states. The best way I can describe this place is a more authentic Cracker Barrel that isn't franchised. Very down fo earth southern feel. The menu itself was very large and diverse. For instance I got homemade lasagna which was very good. Very tender and smooth. My oldest daughter got fried gator tail. We all sampled it out of curiosity. Pretty good. Best way to explain was a spicy chewy chicken nugget. The wife got jambalaya. She liked it but other then that I couldn't get a better explanation. The decor inside was really cool and they had a nice little shop area as well. When we visited it was during the covid pandemic and they did very well at maintaining all safety protocols including several Sanitizer stations setup. Very good and friendly service as well. If I had to say anything negative it is that they pass off there credit card fees on the customer. It's part of my big 3 rules that always makes a place lose a star rating (no refills/fountain sodas, does not accept credit cards and charging the customer for using a credit card). I enjoyed this place tremendously but it definitely soured my experience. I have a large family and I actually use to work in credit card processing and the fee i got more then covered a processing fee. I honestly feel bad for the waitresses/waiters because I can imagine some people will take that extra fee out of there tips. I've honestly never seen a restaurant use this tactic and I imagine it probably so people don't penalize the service workers.

I was a little disappointed. It was nice that they had a bar, and I could order a Bloody Mary, but it was mediocre at best. Hubs and I both ordered off the Lunch menu. He had a Small Taco Wedge salad and I had the Corned Beef & Swiss panini. The German Potato salad side was GREAT! Both meals were okay, but it took way longer than it should have for a salad and a sandwich. I don't know if they were short on help in the kitchen, or what. Not bad. Not great either.

The service was good which is why it has two stars and not one. We went on a Sunday after church and it was packed. We always try fried pickles. Lots of the fried pickles we try are not memorable, unless they are really good. These are memorable because they were horrible. We were seriously considering canceling our orders and leaving after tasting the fried pickles because they were that bad. The only flavor was from the batter which was extremely salty. There was no pickle taste because the pickle was severely dried out. Lunch wasn't bad but my husband threw up an hour later. Nothing memorable to say about the bbq. It takes like it came straight from the bottle. Steak fries were mid. Potatoes needed some more flavor. The baked beans were really good. I really wanted to like this place because it gives the vibes of a Cracker Barrel without the chain but I won't be back!

There isn't much on this stretch of Highway, but stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. Huge restaurant but was mostly empty on a weekday at lunch time. Really cute and country inside! Lots of options on the menu and great prices. Food wasn't spectacular, but fine for what we needed. I'd eat here again!

Stopped here for lunch, and it was a great break from sitting in the hot car for hours on our road trip. The restaurant is large and nicely air-conditioned with old-timey farm decorations. Since we had gorged ourselves on lots of heavy eats throughout a week-long vacation, I opted for a small grilled chicken salad with poppyseed dressing and unsweetened ice tea to have a lighter meal. (I was also saving room for some yummy leftover BBQ ribs sitting in the cooler in the car that I was going to eat afterwards, haha.) The salad was fine. It came with a lot of cheese and two packets of crackers and was a fairly good light meal. I did notice lot of other dishes on the menu that I wanted to try, but alas, it was not meant to be for me that day. My bf got the fried pork tenderloin sandwich and really liked it. Didn't see any Hoosier cream pie on the menu. I heard it's an Indiana thing, but I have yet to see it sold anywhere.

Came in for lunch, was looking for something quick so I sat at the bar because the restaurant side looked similar to a Cracker Barrel just not as quirky. I wanted something somewhat healthy or not overly greasy so I ordered a Buffalo Chicken wrap. The wrap came with an odd red tortilla but the contents of fresh veggies & buffalo tossed chicken was very tasteful. I wolfed it down to get back to work & also ordered a full Chef's salad for takeout. I had the salad for dinner & it was very good & hearty. The prices for my order were very reasonable & I will definitely be back to try another one of their vast menu items!

The fried fish and shrimp were fairly decent and had good texture. The roll was more of a sweet roll, and I thought it had a nice flavor. The gumbo was okay. I thought it was a bit too watery (I'm used to having gumbos with a slightly thicker roux, so I may have some bias towards that). Flavor wise, I found it to be very salty overall and couldn't really taste much Cajun seasoning/flavors. Finally, another thing to note is the service when dining in. Our server was very friendly and nice overall, but I think there were moments when they were not really paying attention, so the timing of placing and receiving our food was pretty slow. Not a bad place overall and I would probably come back to try other items on their menu, but I would probably order from this place as take-out next time.

The side Slaw was EXACTLY like I like it, not the overly-sweet stuff you get at some places and not the vinegary bitter either, just right, wish it had been a bit bigger. The Hushpuppies (6) were small and a bit tough from overcook, those were disappointing because I LOVE Hushpuppies. I would recommend they up their game on the Hushpuppies, that would make this a can't-miss place for good-quick quality fish meal! I will definitely be back to try more of their dishes, PO' Boy on the agenda for next trip!

It feels like an old German inn. The waitress staff wore cultural dresses. They even have a cute little gift shop. The salad bar looked fresh with plenty of options. I had the Ruben. It was delicious. It does not come with any sauce, but the waitress was happy to grab me thousand island. This was probably one of the best Ruben's I've had. For the side, I went with the German fries. Everything was tasty and I hope to come back again! A lot of the group ordered the fried chicken plate special and it looks delicious. They all enjoyed it as well.

Previously family and I have attended some great German restaurants in the motif of a beer hall…read more This is not that. It is more of an inn. There are lots of items on display almost like a small museum. Don't forget the gift shop. I was thrilled. Obviously popular, the clientele was experienced, but diverse. While I did not hear German discussion, I might have. Next to the restaurant is a building that is their catering. It was as big as the restaurant. Walking in, the sign said to seat yourself. Sometimes that means a delay in a server finding you. Nay, nay. She was prompt, attentive and knowledgeable. She was great. Because I scanned the menu ahead of time, I knew that I wanted the trio of wursts. They were among the best I've had. My server talked me into the potato salad. It was great. Along with the wursts, I ordered a salad and completely enjoyed their house made blue cheese dressing. The beer menu had Spaten Special. Spaten is a rare treat for and this is the first time I have even enjoyed it on tap. When I was leaving, I was able to buy a six pack of harder to find German beers. My adult son loves German beer and did not even recognize one I brought that he loved. Restraining myself, I made only modest purchases in the gift shop. This will not be true next visit. As far as the museum aspect, there are many displays. Down one wall are many car models, train models, liquor decanters and numerous other German items. I sneaked into a closed dining room with great displays of stein and wine history. A few times a year, I head from TN to IN. I will make this a two day stop. Oh, did I mention there is a hotel right next door to keep my safe from driving after enjoying a few great beers on tap?
