We used Marty to refinish our dining table, chairs, and dining hutch. The work quality is great and we love the look of the pieces. He prices were fair and he is a very nice man. He even had us come look at the choices of stain on our pieces (after he sanded them) and pick the one we liked most. The only reason this is not a five is because some of the communication was confusing and scheduling was last minute. Overall we really like Marty and would totally use him again! read more

I found The Refinishing Factory on craigslist. Emailed back and forth for a bit, then made an appointment for this morning. Marty showed up on time, was very knowledgeable about refinishing and had all of his own equipment, supplies, and tarps. I set him up in my driveway which was close to an electrical outlet that he needed for his air compressor. He stripped the finish off of 3 dining tables and 2 end tables and put the waste in a container he disposes of in an EPA compliant way at his work. After stripping the existing finish off, he sands the wood, blows it off clean with the air compressor, then applies a sanding sealer, and finally the water based finish. No fumes that I could detect. Marty kept the area clean, finished when he estimated he would, and the furniture looks new again all for a reasonable price! Please use Marty for your refinishing needs. He is honest, hardworking, and a good communicator. His prices are extremely reasonable (although keep in mind that wood furniture refinishing is not cheap and other refinishing businesses may quote 2-4x the amount) and his quality of work is excellent. A tip to get the best estimate is to take a lot of photos of your furniture, including any small details such as curves, intricate carvings, uneven legs, and grooves. He completed an old dining table with claw legs and 4 chairs with cane backs. We purchased the set from Habitat for Humanity and Marty helped us modernize the look. I found The Refinishing Factory on Craigslist. We have an oak kitchen table that had some scratches and water marks that had built up over the years. Marty provided pickup and delivery and finished in two days. The table came out great. He sanded, then stained the top and sealed it with satin polyurethane. It matched perfectly to the other parts of the table that were still in good shape. He did some other things like tighten some screws as well as replace the little feet that were on the bottom. I noticed that several were broken when he came to pick up the table but did not mention it. Nice touch when he told me had replaced them. This was not an antique table so his price to do the refinishing was a great alternative to replacing the table with something new. Thanks Marty. read more

We had Marty refinish an old oak table top and a coffee table. If I knew how well this would turn out, and it certainly did, I would have done it much sooner. I have been living with marred and water stained table tops for tooooo long. Now, they are beautiful. Marty did a fantastic job. We allowed planters to sit on a wood sewing machine that we got from my wife's aunt Ruth before she passed. The saucers leaked, the finish was damaged and the wood had dark circles. So, we temporarily moved the plants to the piano bench without knowing how bad the pot saucers were and again got water marks on the piano bench - double trouble. Marty refinished both. The piano bench refinished beautifully. The sewing machine with the deep dark circles was more of a challenge. Marty worked his magic, reduced the dark circles and blended the surface colors so you don't know dark circles were there. I'm sure that Aunt Ruth would like it better now. We had Marty come over to look at our antique desk which was made of mahogany wood and had some inlay that was very detailed. Scheduling an appt was a little issue, but ok. He took the desk with him, and there was a delivery and pickup charge, but we were not able bring the desk to him due to our disabilities. Marty does not take credit cards, only cash. We were pleased with the repairs when he brought the desk back, but we initially thought the finish was ok, but upon further inspection, noticed that the finish was a semi-gloss and not a high gloss. The desk had drawers on the top and the top piece had the high-gloss finish, and the top piece and bottom piece didn't match. We only had him work on the 2 surfaces on the bottom part of the desk. He called this last Thursday and admitted he made a mistake on the finish, and that he's been really busy! He came out today and apologized and redid the finish. He used spray varnish; he doesn't use a paintbrush. He advised us that brushes leave streaks and spraying is quicker and the look is just as nice. The desk looks good now! Marty showed integrity and honesty, so it was a win-win situation. We highly recommend him, and would have him come back in the future if needed. read more

We found Marty on Yelp and are SO HAPPY we did! He took our 30+ year old Thomasville bedroom night stands which had scratches and water marks on top and turned them into show pieces! Marty also did an amazing job on our Oak pedestal kitchen table (purchased at Breuners many years ago). It had scratches on the top surface and water damage on the pedestal due to years of mopping the kitchen floor around it. Marty not only made our OAK table beautiful again, he also applied a waterproof sealer to the pedestal to prevent future water damage. He even repaired one of the arms on one of the upholstered oak swivel chairs which goes with the set. Marty is a TRUE craftsman who takes great pride in a job well done!
