It was plummy and rich. One of my favorite wines. We had a trio of appetizers that included hummus, eggplant dip and a tahini dip served with toasted pita. I ordered the scrumptious bone marrow which was accompanied by toasted French bread. I was especially impressed with Brian's table side charring to finish and crisp the marrow. My companions had an order of the shrimp & scallop skewers, and the beef skewers. Those dishes both came with two sides. The crispy fries were exquisite, the asparagus was cooked to perfection. This one of my favorite restaurants in Bakersfield. Fine dining at its best. They have a $25 wine tasting with appetizers about once a month which I'm looking forward to attending soon. If you haven't been yet you are missing a wonderful dining experience right here in Bakersfield!

First, our waitress was absolutely lovely--kind, attentive, and professional. She seemed genuinely invested in making sure we had a good experience, and frankly, she deserves to feel valued and supported where she works. During our visit, we overheard employees discussing what sounded like ongoing concerns about how management treats the staff. I can only speak to what we personally witnessed, but it was uncomfortable to hear. Our bigger concern came when the manager approached our table and asked how we enjoyed our meal. Since he asked, we answered honestly. He appeared sympathetic and offered to refund the steak meal. We appreciated the gesture and left believing the issue had been resolved. Three days later, there is still no refund. That leaves us wondering what happened. Was the offer simply made to appease us in the moment? Was there a failure to follow through? Or did he simply forget? Whatever the explanation, when a manager personally tells a customer he is going to correct a problem, I expect him to keep his word--or at minimum communicate if there is a delay. A nice suit and a polished restaurant create a good first impression, but hospitality ultimately comes down to how you treat people--both your customers and your employees. I genuinely hope our waitress finds herself working in an environment where she feels appreciated. As for us, I don't think we'll be back. Unfortunately, what could have been just a disappointing steak became a disappointing experience. Now, even the food tastes bitter.
