We arrived at 7:30 after an intense game of pickleball , and we were famished. They are split and have outdoor seating, and indoor. One side is self-serve and one side you have a waiter. We sat in the self serve and ordered literally everything on the happy hour menu between all 6 of us. Leo and the other employees were all fantastic! Personable and pleasant. Service was quick , they call our order and you pick up at the front. Make sure you load up on some chile torreado, grilled onions and yellow peppers (beware! They have a kick). This is what a grill should be all about. The tri-tip is incredibly tender and juicy, and it pairs perfectly on just about anything: salads, sandwiches, tacos... you really can't go wrong. I've ordered the tri-tip salad a couple of times now, and both times it was just as good as the last. The portion is generous, and the dressing that comes with it reminds me of a Thousand Island-style dressing, but even better. My coworkers ordered the fish and chips, so of course I had to steal a bite. Wow...so delicious! The fish was coated in crushed corn flakes, giving it the perfect crispy texture on the outside while staying juicy and flavorful on the inside. Service was fast and friendly, and there's plenty of indoor seating with ample parking outside. They also apparently offer a happy hour Monday through Friday from 1-4 PM with lots of food and drink specials, which is a great bonus. This place has a full service and a self service section with a full bar in the middle and a guy yellingover a PA to announce what order numbers are up, just like Firestone, and the menu is almost identical except the food is not nearly as good. First time here and it definitely won't be my last. The ambiance offers a relaxed family friendly feel. Their menu isn't overly complicated, they offer you a few burger, sandwiches, and salads choices. They also have a combo plate choice with some delicious sides to choose from. If you're in the mood for a burrito or some wings, they have that too. The staff was friendly and helpful in discussing their menu. I was very impressed with their rib combo. The plate came out with four meaty ribs and my choices were the onion rings and chili verde mac and cheese. Very spacious and the menu and video screens made it easy to order. Got the hangover burger and OMG was it filling. Lots of positives and a couple of things I would prefer to be better. I loved the meat! We got the ribs and pulled pork and both were delicious as well as the bbq sauce. The buffalo chicken dip with chips was excellent-our family's favorite part of the meal. I wish they had better sides. The fries and Parmesan potatoes weren't great. Have had way better many places. Also not a fan of their "corn bread"-it was dense and way too wet. Cornbread should be fluffy and soft. This tasted more like the outside of tamale and not in a good way. Also the beans had a bitter taste. The one side we did like was the chile verde Mac n' cheese-it was yummy. My daughter said the grilled cheese was good too. One odd thing, no lids for drinks and only in to-go cups. But the prices are good and the place has a great vibe. The service was so-so. Server was friendly but slow and didn't listen when we asked for refills for all of us. She only brought one for my husband. Pro tip: use the self-service side. Upon waiting we received someone else's wings which were garlic Parmesan - which confused us, bit were quickly token away due to them bringing it to the wrong table...no biggie, but the sauce smelled disgusting to me. When we received our food, the Chicken BLT sandwich was 5.5 at best! The Pulled Pork Sandwich was a 4.1, super dry and the whole sandwich fell apart. The BBQ sauce was amazing tho! There are two s sections to the restaurant, a full service side and a self service side. We were going to stay for a while and visit, so we chose full service. Went in to try the hoppin' new BBQ joint and left with a similar feeling as when I walked outside to find someone had drilled a hole in my fuel tank to steal my gas. Before I get to the explanation for that bold statement, allow me to first acknowledge the tri-tip was actually pretty decent. I grew up on Santa Maria Style so I have high expectations when I see Tri-Tip on the menu and they did a pretty good job. HOWEVER, I would be remiss if I did not warn any future patron of the shady little scam this company is pulling. The menu said $18 for the tri-tip plate, and even though that's a little steep, I was starvin' and figured I could swallow that price tag. When we got the check, it was rung up as $22! When I asked the waitress, she pointed out a *very* fine print at the bottom of the menu that says "PRICES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE". I looked at my mom, who looked like she was about to have an aneurysm and the only response I could muster was "IN THIS ECONOMY?!" I have never seen a business run like that and will definitely be taking my patronage somewhere else when BBQ tickles my fancy again. I mean for heaven's sake, we're all barely hanging on out here. We were meaning to try this place for awhile because I have been such a big fan of their food truck! I absolutely love their quesa birria but surprisingly, they didn't have it here. But since we wanted to try what they have, we ordered a burger and some shrimp tacos so we can try two different types of food. I love the burger, meat is tender and they were generous with the veggies and sauce. They mistakenly gave us a shrimp burger instead of a shrimp taco but they were extremely apologetic for the mistake and even told us to keep the burger. She was very sweet and friendly, and did an excellent job. For my first visit I played it safe and got the Tri-tip sandwich with a side of chili-verde Mac n cheese. I also shared a basket of onion rings with my wife. My son got a basket of fries as well. The tri-tip was very moist and tender, with great flavor, served on a soft warm bun. I was skeptical about the chili verde Mac, but it was outstanding. Great flavor without being too spicy, and cooked perfectly. The onion rings were also delicious. I don't know if they did it on purpose, but I like how the fries were a bit overdone. They were very crispy with an irresistible seasoning. It's always good when places don't skimp on portions, and the salad felt like a proper serving instead of a tiny side. The atmosphere was nice and the facility has a good amount of spacing, so it doesn't feel crowded. The staff were also super friendly, which made the experience even better. My only disappointment was the hot link sandwich. The hot link itself was about the size of a small hot dog, which caught me off guard because I expected something much bigger and more substantial for a sandwich. Other than that, the flavor of the food has been great overall. If you're a fan of tri-tip, that's definitely the item to try. Went for the first time the other day with my husband. Food was really good, food came out hot. At first we questioned why service was slow but the bartender was working the bar while also serving tables. It wasn't super busy but he did a great job serving both areas as we waited. I believe SoCal was hosting an event outside the restaurant which makes sense why less employees were not present the day we went for our first time. We went on opening day and everything was running smoothly. We ordered our food and sat down. The wait to get our order was less than 10mins. I got the rib plate that comes with two sides. The frijoles charros are excellent! Unfortunately their style of Mac and cheese isn't for me. It was more of a noodles and butter situation, but it may be nice for those who are looking for that. Saw this place on TikTok and was excited to try it. We walked in and the bar area was lively but everywhere else was empty. We ordered a chicken BLT and the ribs al pastor plate. We tried a side of the chile verde Mac and cheese. The ribs were almost inedible. The membrane hadn't been removed and that left a stringy texture to the meat with a gooey flap that needed to be peeled back to eat the ribs. The flavor of the ribs was fine but they were very dry. The Parmesan potatoes were pretty bland but the onion rings were good. My chicken sandwich was ok, the best part was the bread it was served on which is great but not why you go to a bbq place. I was really disappointed by the Mac and cheese. It's a very simple bbq staple and doesn't need to be anything fancy. The chile verde completely overpowered the Mac and cheese. We ended up taking one bite each and throwing the rest away. I always want to support local businesses and veteran owned businesses so I was very disappointed by this experience. Don't trust their social media! We went for "happy hour" at noon, the cashier said that starts at 1pm, we show him the instagram post that said 11am, he said that was a few weeks ago, we show him it was posted yesterday, he said that was wrong, and he couldn't do nothing about it, he was rude and even tho it was an hour early he didn't wanted to honor it.
