Friday, August 28, 2026, my family (4) went to eat here because my family hadn't eaten there in almost a year. I'm 70yrs old and a person who has had cancer for 3 yrs with ongoing chemotherapy, when I arrived the hostess was nice & I asked if I could have a child's meal due to the facts; I'm on a chemo medication & can't eat more than a cup of food.. I was told no, then I said ok instead of paying the rate of $23 can I just sit with them, to hot to sit outside, manager came to front & said everyone pays.. I told him I'm paying for my birthday ppl of 3 but would appreciate a reduction.. he 1st told me, ok just this once but pay for drink, which I did, then proceeded to look at buffet food, everything looked like they barely put the minimum of food, was crusted over old, so I'm taking a plate put some soft food, that I might eat, then the manager Cesar (?) marched over to me, and said.. you told me you couldn't eat, why did you make a plate & ordered me to go pay.. (embarrassing) , but he was mad that I was eating when I said I couldn't eat a lot.. ppl see a 160 lb woman & think yeah sure you have cancer & don't want too pay, I pulled my shoulder to him & said look here's my portacath if you don't believe.. well he just waved me away.. my story is the manager was rude, this place doesn't make small meals for seniors who having eating disorders, or even care too, I ate less than a spoon full of food, the food was old, no taste.. it had dirty floors & the employees (a few) look like they were miserable ppl.. so don't waste your $$$, there isn't any deals & there isn't discounts. By the way, I paid full price $$ for my meal of course.. & didn't even eat 1/4 of food. Right after we left, a member of our group had to stop on the road to throw up the food he just ate.. that should tell you more. But you're kinda getting what you pay for. Don't expect high quality and great food. My personal favorites are their waffles (which you make yourself), their grilled chicken, and their Mac and cheese (hit or miss). The service is okay, nothing too bad but nothing extraordinary. It's has been a while since we've dined at Golden Carrol and today was a very good day. Friendly service all the time 5 stars for customer service. We arrived at the 4pm dinner menu and we were pleasantly surprised hot food was coming out and the food was delicious. I'm on a strict diet but today was my cheat day. My husband and I both enjoyed the steak, fried and baked chicken, fried fish, pork, greens, black eyed peas and many more delicious foods. Everything was seasoned and hot. The manager is always very friendly. The restaurant was clean and a huge plus for having gloves and hand sanitizer stations. A very nice place to over indulge in many selections of food. After my family had been coming here for several years, today was our last visit. My parents found a cockroach in their pozole. When they informed the manager, instead of apologizing or handling the situation professionally, he responded by telling my parents , "You better not tell anyone about this." That response was honestly more disturbing than the incident itself. It felt like they cared more about protecting their business than the health and safety of their customers. I am not huge fan of these buffets due to having past experience with dirty restaurants however with this one I was quite impressed with the management and the servers they were on it from beginning till end. Crappy jazz music playing in the background. Golden corral? There's nothing golden about this place. The guy at the meat house don't even get me started on him. I asked for rare steak and he gave me a RAW steak. DON'T COME HERE UNLESS YOU LIKE HEARING CRAPPY JAZZ MUSIC, EATING RAW MEAT AND WAITING 20 MINUTES TO FINALLY GET A REFILL ON YOUR DRINKS. My family of 4 went this past Friday in the evening. It seemed crowded only because noone was allowed to sit at the area in front of the cashiers or at the other end of the restaurant by the bathrooms. So it seemed we were elbow to elbow at the section by the salad bar. I didn't like that. On the receipt it said we were charged the weekend rate, I didn't know Friday evening is considered the weekend so our tab came out to 100 dollars. I was a bit surprised! My husband and I tried to eat a bit of everything but my husband and i, especially my girls, we can't eat alot. We tried! I dont think what they serve nor how much we ate equals 100 dollars. I don't think anyone could. The steaks had a lot of fat. The spighetti and penne pastas were pretty good but my daughters fettuccine pasta was a bit hard. The pizzas were alright. The shrimp tasted like orange chicken which I thought was good. The buscuit i used with gravy was a bit hard. There was no cotton candy being served, nor any cones for the ice cream. I was disappointed with dinner, maybe we would return for breakfast but never again for dinner. My family and I wanted to go to celebrate my parents anniversary. My parents love buffets and wanted to go. Upon entry we wanted to pay for my parents plate and so they wouldn't pay, and the guy said they had to be there. We told him they were at the door and he stated they needed to get their drinks. This place is great. I enjoy coming here with my family every week. I can't get enough of the quality and the freshness of the food and dessert options. The guy in the grill named Isaiah has consistently served us excellent medium rare streaks every single time. The fish options are delicious and the cookies taste like a warm comforting hug . I miss the chocolate fountain but I understand why they had to remove it to prevent food waste and sanitation issues. Well, I haven't eaten here in about 5 years. So I thought it was time to try it again. I can't completely condemn it because it wasn't horrible as so many have said here in the ratings. I can't give a perfect score either.... SO my conclusion is this..... I came in during a lunch service and there were a lot of different choices. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Everything was like a low quality Chinese Buffet, but with more choices than just Chinese food. In a world with such high increasing prices, this could be a good option. If you have a large family and just want to spend some time together, it great. Kids love all the basic food choices. It seems like most items are more side heavy and then minimal protein options are way to basic! They advertise the ability to have a steak for the price and honestly it wasn't too bad. Definitely not a ribeye from your favorite steak restaurant, but you didn't pay $40 either. Pricing is very budget friendly for those families out there just wanting to spend some time as a family. Business was very clean and the staff was very attentive. The waitress came around and removed plates and refilled drinks frequently. My only complaint was the way they stacked the tables and chairs SO closely that you could barely get up and down to get food. I've been to Golden Corral plenty of times. Every visit has been an amazing experience. The food was very delicious. Yeah some items were better than others. No place is perfect but they do what they can. I really enjoyed the fried fish and the bbq ribs. Even though it was a bit busy the servers are really nice. Especially the ones in the morning. Rossi is so nice and amazing. Always with a smile and Liz is really nice. In the afternoon we got Lupe and he was super attentive to us and Alex was nice too. This will be my third and likely final review. $76.00 for three people. I get that food prices have soared, but absolutely nothing else by way of aesthetics, food quality/freshness or maintenance has improved in order to APPEAL TO NEW CUSTOMERS and to KEEP THE LOYAL CUSTOMERS COMING BACK! What was available was crusted, skinned over, hadn't been replenished, stations unattended with no staff presence; dirty in between steam trays; grossly misplaced/mislabeled OR not labeled AT ALL; plates station was low, then empty then never was refilled; ALL hand sanitizer stations were EMPTY/INOPERABLE; the entire salad bar station was UNLABELED, not one item was labeled; the meat carving station was completely void of ANY MEAT (awhile later, after I brought this to attention, someone began cooking steaks, however, I'm guessing the days of having hams or roasts or bbq available atop those carving blocks are a thing of the past?) There was NOTHING except the same unattended and unrequested piece of baked FISH which I'd NEVER seen outside of the seafood station before. Pot roast steam tray was mostly glazed over gravy with no meat, just potatoes and carrots swimming around; meatloaf was in crumbled tatters, no loaf to speak of; Dessert station had considerably less offerings and most of those were mislabeled. The banana pudding of yesteryear now had zero bananas, no cookies just pudding. The ice cream toppings were not labeled, one of those was chopped nuts, in/on and around all the other ones--food/nut allergies?? There was a smashed up cake labeled as "Cotton candy". The Peach cobbler was in fact APPLE. The seating area wait staff were polite and attentive. The workers behind the food stations all presented as dismissive, unfriendly, inattentive or mostly not present.
