Always a fabulous meal here and I am always remembered and made to feel special when I eat here. Staff is kind and courteous. Menu changes often and is always adventurous. I enjoy the combinations the chef puts together and the food is unique. Didn't have dessert on this visit but last time I had the ice cream sandwiches that were awesome. Overall, a must visit in Kansas and literally on the Missouri border. No reason not to visit here.

Easily a top five KC dining experience for us! We went here for Valentine's Day* and thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. To start, we were welcomed at the door and offered to check our coats when checking in. Our service was extremely professional throughout and their timing was on point. It felt like we were never left waiting for the next course. The food was OUTSTANDING. Great presentation and flavor. I was blown away by the combination of flavors and especially the white asparagus and sunchoke soup, which was possibly the best soup I've ever had. A huge thank you to the chef and all staff at 1900 for a wonderful experience. *This being their Valentine's dinner, I cannot speak to how similar it is to their typical dinner service, but I'm definitely confident they are great anytime!

All the five-star reviews for Restaurant at 1900 are spot on! This was easily one of the best meals I've ever had. Every dish was made to perfection, with just the right portion size not too much, not too little. Ambiance - The restaurant has a modern, casual vibe with minimalistic furniture. The servers were dressed in T-shirts and jeans with an apron, which made the place feel welcoming. It's not overly fancy or too simple, just the right balance. The staff was super attentive, greeting us warmly and making sure we were taken care of throughout dinner. Food - The menu has some unique and unexpected options like rabbit, squab, and wild boar, which I have not typically seen at premium restaurants in Kansas City. We started off with a Diet Coke and the Ichigo cocktail, followed by appetizers: wild mushroom bisque and 1900 smoked fish. For the main course, we ordered: Tenderloin of Beef with Foie Gras and Fig Toast Celeriac and Parsnip Pansotti in Duck Bolognese The duck had an Indian-inspired touch, it seemed like the stock had some Indian spices, which was a pleasant surprise! As an Indian myself, I had never tasted duck prepared this way before, and I absolutely loved it. The tenderloin was perfectly cooked at medium rare and the fig toast went well with it . You can tell the chef is incredibly talented..every dish was thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. No wonder he's an award-winning chef! We wrapped up the meal with celebration ice cream, and let me tell you, this meal was the highlight of our day. To conclude, We had a fantastic experience at Restaurant at 1900, and I 100% recommend it to everyone. It deserves a spot on Kansas City's must-try restaurant list before you die!

Beautiful lunch - the atmosphere, service and food all deserve five stars! Patty, our server, was friendly and approachable, but also knowledgeable and recommended a great dish. As you can see from the pictures, they have great attention to detail on the food presentation. And the atmosphere is very nice. It is a high end restaurant but with a comfortable approach. I haven't been for dinner here in a very long time and need to go back!

I felt suave getting to enjoy my lunch here. The staff makes you feel important. Weather permitting, you must sit on the patio with the gorgeous water feature - our group reminisced on times in Europe because that's what this patio gives. I was here for lunch and my grilled chicken salad was super fresh and delicious. Can't wait to return for a fancy dinner!

My husband and I were visiting KC from CA and wanted to find a fun, yet elegant, date night spot for our last night and this was a too recommendation on Reddit. Seeing that is was a semifinalist TWICE for a James Beard award, we knew this place wouldn't disappoint. The service and the food are exquisite! Everyone we interacted with is extremely personable and gave wonderful recommendations. We had a lovely conversation with Michael (?) about our trip and he gave us some history on the building and restaurant. The entire dinner was just an amazing experience!

This is such a beautiful spot. It's an experience. The food is delicious. It was the most amazing steak that I've ever had. The chef has a brilliant mind and puts together a menu that is top notch. The servers are exceptional. It's almost like they're psychic because they anticipate your needs. The pastry chef has made so many of my favorite desserts. I'm so impressed by her mind too. The ice cream she creates are simply divine.

Went here for my birthday last week and had a DELICIOUS meal with impeccable service! Everything was superb: The oysters, the green veggies with cured salmon & vinaigrette gribiche, the porcini mushroom soup, the garganelli with beef & bone marrow ragu, and finally the rack of venison. I am salivating just typing this. All ingredients so fresh! The drinks were also a fun little adventure. Cannot wait to return for the next special occasion to try more dishes!! It will be hard to branch out though, the ones we ate are all worth ordering again.

    New England Chowder

TL;DR: Great food, especially the seafood, but the chef works with flavors that are easy to enjoy. It's classic fine-dining fare. If you're looking for a novel experience for $100/person, you can get much more for the money somewhere like The Antler Room or Corvino. The Restaurant at 1900 has been so beloved recently, and if you look through the reservation system, it looks like they're booked out for dinner more often than not, so I had high hopes coming into this reservation. My friend and I ordered a variety of starters, two mains, and a dessert, and I can confidently say you'll probably have a good experience dining here. HIGHLIGHTS The highlights were definitely the mains we ordered (Brown Sugar-Brined Berkshire Pork Chop and the Crispy Skin Half Amish Chicken) and the New England Chowder. If you're looking for a thick, hearty chowder, this is not for you. The chowder is in the style of New England, where the chef originates from, with delicate and nuanced flavors from the seafood that I haven't yet seen elsewhere in Kansas City. The chowder was definitely the highlight among the starters. As for the mains, the portions were just right, the meat was crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, and the sides complemented the dish perfectly. DOWNSIDES The other starters were a bit of a different story. It's almost as though the starters and the mains are playing off two different restaurant concepts, where the starters are small, avant-garde plates and the mains are your proven, easy-to-like dishes. While I appreciated the ideas present in the non-chowder starters, I can't say they particularly struck a chord with me. The Kabocha Squash and Hazelnut Agnolotti was beautifully presented and I loved the fall flavors in it, but the dish *needed* the sweetness of the squash to come together, and there were literally four pieces of pasta in that "pasta" starter. It's difficult to see underneath all the toppings, but it was seriously two fun-size pieces each of squash-stuffed pasta for me and my friend. If you're read my review of Stock Hill, the experience was as comical as that three-leaf strawberry salad. The experience with the Deviled Rabbit with Toast and Jam was similar. The concept was interesting, but the execution was lacking. I love mustard, but it was the only flavor present in the dish. Eating the rabbit on its own, without the toast that had been swiped with mustard, revealed more of the tender, beautiful flavors that rabbit is known for when it's cooked well. As for the Huckleberry Cheesecake dessert, it was tasty but lacked style--without the fluffiness of some signature cheesecake or the dense, towering build of others. I would recommend trying one of the other desserts. RECOMMEND? I would still come back to the Restaurant at 1900, and I would recommend to others as well for those looking for a fine dining experience on a weekday night without having to make the trek all the way downtown. It's nice enough to do for an anniversary dinner or other special occasion. When ordering, I would just stick mostly to mains and ask the server for popular starter recommendations, if ordering any. Keep in mind that while the restaurant may look like it's booked out, there are a number of seats that seem to be reserved for walk-ins. When I made my reservation, it looked like I took the very last spot for that night. I showed up at 5pm for the reservation and the place was sparsely populated until around 6:30-7. Don't be afraid if you can't get a reservation; just call the restaurant and ask if they have walk-in availability for that night.

    Sweet Potato Cake

Delicious. We went for my husbands birthday. Highly recommend the wild mushroom pasta with truffles. My husbands favorite was the Alaskan halibut with green tomatoes. My espresso martini was one of the best I've had. Service was a little slow for the whole restaurant. Didn't bother us cause we weren't in a hurry. In a cool location.

The food was amazinggggg!! The trout was amazing all the components with it made it light and refreshing... with the perfect sear on the skin!Best turkey bacon club i've ever had, not a huge fan of the cold pasta on the side but the taste was still good! Our waitress was great, she brought us an amazing wine recommendation.

Ask the Community - The Restaurant at 1900

This question is not specifically for the restaurant. My sister is attending a wedding there next month. She is handicapped and uses a walker/wheelchair. Are the event and public areas ada accessible?

I have not been to an event there but yes. This is a retail building and there is access to all areas.

It's located in a cool area in the middle of the plaza right underneath Chiefs Fit gym. As soon as you enter you get a feel for the great ambiance and fun variety of music. We came in during a cold snowy day and took full advantage of the FREE coat check at the front desk. On the first floor there's a mini golf course as well as a full bar and seating area. Once you go downstairs though, you'll see just how massive the place is. Theres TONS of seating and cool little nooks to hangout in which make it great for a date night or corporate events. Once you get into the mini golf there's some great courses to check out. Each one has a different theme and they make it super simple to track your points. Simply enter the names of all your players on the touch screen at the first hole, then enter the number of strokes afterwards. After that it will follow you throughout the course until you're finished and tell you who wins at the end! There's also a place to sit your drinks at the start of each hole with a menu of course specific cocktails that I highly recommend trying. Every part of this place is perfect to take pictures and have a great time. But in my opinion, the true highlight of the Puttery is the food. I had the pleasure of meeting the head chef while here and he truly puts his heart into the menu. Our server Mariah was also super helpful giving us drink and food recommendations throughout our time here. Everything sounded amazing but I had to go with the Cajun Chicken Philly since I'm a sucker for a Philly sandwich. It was one of my favorite sandwiches I've ever had. From the soft delicious bread to the unbelievably juicy and tender chicken, this was such a great dish. The combination of ingredients and the plating itself made it clear that nothing comes as an afterthought here. I also tried the loaded fries which were a great recent addition to the menu. Last, we finished it off by trying the Tiramisu, Raspberry Donut Cheesecake, and the Bourbon Bread Pudding. Each one was really amazing but my favorite was the Raspberry Donut Cheesecake, and I'm not even a huge cheesecake fan! I definitely plan to come back here just for the food because it was so delicious!! And on top of that, they recently started a meal prep service which I plan to take full advantage of! On one end of the table sat a chocolate martini so decadent it looked borderline sinful. On the polar opposite end of the spectrum, I ordered an extra-dirty Chopin martini, complete with blue-cheese-stuffed olives. Look, it didn't reinvent the wheel, but it was executed exactly the way I'd make it at home--assuming I could ever actually find a bottle of Chopin in any of our local liquor establishments. (Seriously, who is hoarding it?) We kicked things off with the gourmet bread basket. Do yourself a favor and cough up the extra $5 for the super soft bread and whipped butter; your tastebuds will thank you for not being cheap. For my starter, I opted for the she-crab soup, which presented itself as a spectacularly rich crab bisque. Word on the street is that she-crab Is vastly superior to he-crab. This is a PG-rated review, so I shall leave the mechanics to your imagination. Then came the piece de résistance: the 12-ounce ribeye, flanked by asparagus spears and Delmonico potatoes. This sucker was thick. When I asked our waitress for a proper steak knife, she politely pointed to my standard-issue butter knife and confidently declared, "That's it!" I thought she was joking. She wasn't. Melt-in-your-mouth is an understatement; this medium-rare masterpiece yielded to a butter knife like it was soft brie. The sides were equally stellar. The Delmonico potatoes were a beautifully elevated, elite version of scalloped potatoes, and the asparagus was snappy, tender, and perfectly seasoned. The evening's only tragic misstep was the cheesecake. It, too, was incredibly thick--but in all the wrong ways. While fortunately not overbaked, the texture resembled a very well-flavored, highly gourmet paste. To add insult to injury, the graham cracker crust had completely surrendered its structural integrity, offering none of the classic crunch I crave. Minor dessert tragedy aside, it was a phenomenal evening. The service was impeccable, the vibe was unmatched, and that steak alone warrants a return visit. Next time, I'll just be exploring a different corner of the dessert menu.
