Went to Sushi Palace with a group of friends who have been before but this was my first time. Everyone was in the mood for all you can eat sushi so we decided this was the place to go. Everyone ordered what they wanted . Shared sushi and apps. The restaurant is small with enough table to seat others . When we walked in , it was very quiet! Where was the music?! Everyone can hear your conversation. It was that quiet. The menu offered apps, sushi, salad, noodles,Entrees, desserts and drinks( alcoholic) . One thing that was a disappointment was that staff is not fully knowledgeable about gluten allergies or the term gluten free. Our waitress didn't know what gluten free was. Also, when I ordered one of the rolls there was discrepancy in 2 of the menus on the description. I didn't realize until after. One did not say there would be crunchy things in it . The other said it did. I noticed after consuming and tasting something crunchy in the roll. That roll was shared will all my friends so luckily even though I ordered it I didn't consume it all . I have been dining at Sushi Palace for at least decade. They have a pre-set menu, all you can eat from the sushi bar and kitchen. My all time favorites are Beef Udon, and Potato Tempura besides the sushi. I am a sucker for aesthetics so when my first round came on a wooden tray, well, I'm sold for life. There is nothing like being served food on actual serving dishes rather than disposables during the height of COVID. This is a yay for me! Sushi is always delicious. You can mix and match between the sushi bar and the kitchen items or make a combo. I would recommend ordering another set when nearly finishing the first, conscientious of how much more you can eat so that you aren't waiting for a time, or, get some tea or a bit of sake. Does not disappoint! The all-you-can-eat menu is full of fresh options, but the highlight for me is always the sushi boat. Such a fun way to try a variety, and everything tastes so fresh. Don't shy away from trying their unique rolls too like the Godzilla (deep fried and filled with mozzarella, jalapeño, crab, and salmon, and yes, it totally works). You could also add on unlimited beer for only an additional $5. They recently added fried Oreos to their menu as well which is such a fun note to end the meal on. I usually visit Sushi Palace during my break from work. They often try to convince me to get the all you can eat sushi, but I know exactly what I want and have a limited amount of time. I don't overeat during lunch because my office job makes me sleepy if I'm too full. I typically order a Japanese soda along with a shrimp tempura roll. They are honestly the best. My boyfriend and I come here at least once a month ever since my friend recommended it to me. We have tried several other all you can eat sushi places in Connecticut, but so far this one is our favorite. It is a bit of a drive from where we live, but we never mind because it is always worth it. As soon as you walk in, you can see the sushi chef working and preparing the rolls, which makes the experience even better. The ambience can be a bit loud depending on the time you go, but it never feels dull. They always have great music playing, and the customer service is amazing. I personally love ordering the Yummy Maki specialty roll and the sushi pizza. Everything tastes incredibly fresh, and the fish is so smooth and buttery. My boyfriend used to prefer only cooked sushi, but this restaurant completely changed that. We may live close to 40 miles away, but this is my family's go-to place for all-you-can-eat sushi and Japanese food. (The AYCE sushi places around us just don't compare.) The only uncommon thing is that the appetizers or small plates from the kitchen get all put onto one plate (similar to how all the sushi gets served on 1 platter); this makes for getting the sauces difficult, as they pour the sauces (like tempura sauce or teriyaki sauce on top). With the Crispy Calamari, it gets served with a (very) sweet mango sauce. Service is fine, and they're relatively quick. All You Can Eat Sushi has always been suspect to me but we were meeting up with some friends that recommended it so why not. First is the price at $27/each was great. Be sure not to order to much or they will charge you. The fish tasted fresh but cut very thin. And there were not many rolls or sashimi to choose from. Everything we had was very tasty. I've been patronizing sushi palace in Hamden, orange, north haven for years. Today something really stood out to me. Nowhere on their menu does it list sea urchin (Uni). However, my children and I were in the restaurant for a mere 50 minutes and the three orders we placed all came with two uni rolls. The first time I figured it was some type of mistake but it happened two more times and made me uncomfortable. My children and I were the only POC in restaurant and if you're familiar with sushi you know UNI is filling. It felt as if we were being rushed and the attentiveness was sorry. read more

And honestly they were all very delicious The service was a bit slow and be forewarned, when my friend and I asked if they have gluten-free options, they seemed confused so we're assuming they do not have those options. They still let my friend sit with us as we had our fill our sushi though and did not charge her which was nice! My qualm, though, is that it is quite pricey for an all you can eat dinner of this caliber. We each paid about $38, including tax and tip, because dinner on weekends is pricier. I went to Sushi Palace in Hamden last night, prior to going I looked at the reviews on Yelp, they're mostly 4-5 stars. I can't say my experience rated so great. This is an all you can eat sushi restaurant. They bring you little slips to mark your order. Several other places have the same system. We were a party of four. We first ordered four soups, edamame to share, and seaweed salads. Then the sushi. All their dishware and utensils, all of it, including the soy sauce container are disposable. The cups are the red cups that always remind me of playing beer pong in college. Presentation is not their priority. However, if the sushi is out of this world amazing, that's what matters. The seaweed salad came out in styrofoam cups, it was good, I just have a weird feeling sitting in a restaurant eating from plastic containers and plates. I'm not sure if this is a covid reason, or if they always did this. Or maybe they're having trouble with their dishwasher. Here is where the issue begins, two soups came out, two were never brought out. I asked the waitress, and to be completely honest I couldn't understand a word of what she said. I just let it go. I figured that's probably enough food anyway. The edamame also never came out. Then the sushi came out. The sushi comes out on a real plate, but it's covered in cling wrap. Also the plate with the ginger and wasabi is also covered in cling wrap. I have no words. Does this mean these plates don't get washed between customers? They just change the cling wrap? Guess what? I really hate to say it, but the sushi was no good. One of the rolls I enjoyed, can't say what it was called. But the rest of it was very bland and hard. The edamame arrived at the very end. I just don't understand, it was an appetizer. I didn't know you could go wrong with it. But now I know. It was so salty, unbearably overly salty. Anytime I'd try to get the waitress' attention with "excuse me" she would totally ignore me. I have to say she was good with drink refills. As soon as she did that she'd run. 11.19.21 I love sushi. Did I say, I love sushi ? I really do. I have favorite go to sushi places throughout the state. It just depends on where I am. In Hamden this is my go to sushi place for sure. The sushi has always been great quality. This is also a spot that I'd recommend for all you can eat sushi. I mention that because most of the places that I'm aware of that offer all you can eat sushi aren't that great nor worth it. This place for sure is worth it in price and quality. I was in a food coma the first time I dove into their ayce sushi. I was amazed and the drool factor was in the works. The assortment for the ayce is plentiful. They don't over do it on the rice with the ayce like a lot of places usually do. They are modest with the rice. Also the food gasm was in effect. It was an incredible time but I learned to be cautious from that point on. The first time I enjoyed the ayce sushi at lunchtime was a little bit of over indulgence on my part. I was literally still stuffed at 9:00 that night when I had eaten here during a lunch break. The restaurant is clean. They do a lot of to go orders. The dining room is on the smaller side but large enough that you don't feel stuffed in. A cute place decorated nicely. They have clean bathrooms. The parking situation is the only less than stellar part here with a tiny parking lot along the restaurant. They also have street parking. The prices are very reasonable and their ayce sushi is also a great value for the price. Their large party platters are a great to go item to take home or bring to a friend's house or for a party. Given the sushi options in the area, this is a solid ayce spot! There's a good selection of sashimis, makis, sushi rolls, and kitchen options. Once you place the order, the food comes quickly after! I'm super happy that rolls are not just filled with rice. There's a good amount of fish per piece and I appreciate that it's not just drenched in sauce. If you blink you may miss it and parking is confusing as they have a tiny loading area with some spots (where we parked) and a private lot around back in the corner. We got the all you can eat Sushi which was surprisingly large! We expected small portions but these were anything but so be cautious upon ordering. This isn't gourmet level sushi but it isn't grocery store either. Out of all the sushi I've tried I would mark this a solid 3 out of 5 which is actually strong for CT this isn't really sushi territory. The restaurant is nicely decorated with oriental pictures. The waitress was friendly even though we ordered a few more sashimi after paying our Bill. I would recommend to try and make your place for all you can eat. read more

This costs roughly around $20 each and I highly advise you to come early because there are not many all you can sushi bars in the New Haven county. Seemed like they made the food way faster for the dashers then the people sitting at the restaurant. This place is completely goated. I have been going here since literal babyhood. The sushi is so yummy. I love the spicy salmon avocado roll and the sweet potato rolls. I also love the eel and yellowtail fish and salmon too. The sushimi is great! The waiters are always cleaning the tables they are excellent. The walls have cute Chinese ladies in dresses on them and the restaurant is baby-friendly. I love the calamari shrimp udon soup for an appetizer. I used to enjoy this place, and this was my first visit in a while, and it has fallen off a cliff. Tuna sushi was clearly "gassed" tuna, obvious by its incredibly vibrant pink color...a practice where the fish is sprayed with carbon monoxide to keep it looking and smelling fresh well past its date. It's allowed by the FDA because it is "GRAS" - Generally Regarded as Safe. Except it is illegal in Canada, Japan, and the European Union. This fish was hi-lighter pink. The "wasabi" that was given was also the consistency of tapioca pudding and an ecto-cooler green. I'm not expecting real wasabi, but this is clearly the lowest quality (or homemade with food dye and horseradish) version available. I used to enjoy this place, but this was horrendous. read more
