    Fried pickles
    Rey G.

I've been really excited to try this place, so many of my friends have highly recommended it. My guess is we (my daughter and I) came in on an off day so take this with a grain of salt...It is a Thursday, early evening, all the tables are full when we arrived although we were seated promptly. The place is small but cute, definitely feels like you're getting cozy with everyone in there. We started off with the fried pickles, they are cut super thin and done in a corn meal batter, 10/10 delicious and crunchy. My daughter ordered the catfish nuggets, they were way over cooked and difficult to bite/chew. They looked liked semi-burnt cornmeal balls, I'm not sure there was actually any catfish in them, & they were totally lacking in flavor. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with fried okra. It pains me to say it, but it was so awful. The bacon was cooked beyond being edible, the burger patty, clearly cooked from frozen was so thin and tasteless. Overall trying to eat the burger made me feel like I was trying to bite through rusty nails. The okra was actually cooked perfectly but was just plain, no flavor. The staff seemed distant and uninterested but pleasant. I don't get southern or soul-food, there's a ton of disposable plastic used, and the prices are a little high for the portions served. Again, I'm hoping that this was just an off day and that in the future the food and service will be better.

Quaint Bistro with home cooked soul food. The catfish and the burgers are good. The cakes are made from scratch and delicious.

The food is outstanding. I enjoy the shrimp gumbo. My son loves their wings and fried catfish. Give them a try. You won't regret it.

If Lettuce Indulge was in my hometown, it would be my number one hangout coffee shop. They specialize in very high quality straight up coffee, their own self-invented elaborate coffee drinks - and healthy main dishes. I did a straight up espresso and a chicken and good-for-you-stuff bowl. The straight up espresso was so good - I went for a second about twenty minutes later. I don't have a coffee taster's vocabulary - But this was a non-burnt, non-heavy, complicated, intriguing brew. It was not like any coffee I had had in a long time. * * * The chicken bowl beat the stupid stuff Starbucks sells you for lunch easily. My home coffee shops vary in the quality of their kitchens. There are some sandwiches and salads to die for. There is also a lot of mediocre stuff that makes Starbucks lunch look good. If my chicken bowl had been rated on an Austin scale from 1 to 10, It would have been a solid 8. I would be happy to eat that over and over and over again. * * * The room is fine. The folks who work there are super super friendly and super super nice. * * * The establishment closes on Sundays ... So I am going to guess that one of the owners or maybe a huge percentage of the staff are dedicated Christians. There is a lot of idealism in the craftsmanship that goes into the coffee. Same for the idealism that goes into the food. Plus the room has a very healthy vibe. There is a lot of virtue in this establishment. Virtue is a good thing.

The bar is super cozy at night, and the holiday lights really add to the overall ambiance, cool vibes all around. I didn't stay to dine-in and ordered out instead, but I could easily see myself sitting here playing cards with friends. The pizza was VERY good, and the summertime berry salad was even better (now goes by Strawberry Pecan Salad). Two days later, my friends and I were hungry and couldn't stop thinking about this pizza and salad. So we ordered out again mid day. This time we got a full salad, added chicken, and asked for extra toppings and dressing. Definitely ask for extra, especially if you're sharing, because the normal amount isn't quite enough. I'm a culinary dietitian and meant to ask for their ranch recipe, but totally forgot. Ughhh!! So delicious though! There was a small mix-up with the second order and we had to drive back, but the customer service was great and it was no issue at all to fix. Highly recommend!!!

However, I wanted to mention that we were disappointed by the casual atmosphere permitted in the dining room. Seeing other guests wearing baseball caps and shorts felt out of place for the experience we were anticipating, especially given the limited fine dining options in the area. Perfectly crisp on the outside, packed with real crab, not filler, and the texture was spot on. And the sauce? Incredible. It tied everything together in a way that made each bite better than the last. We also ordered the wagyu meatballs, and they did not disappoint. Rich, flavorful, and cooked just right, definitely not your average appetizer. And do not skip the house made bread. It is an absolute must. Soft and fluffy on the inside with the perfect crunch on the crust. Served with both cinnamon butter and regular butter, and honestly, both were so good it was hard to pick a favorite. For entrées, I had the pot roast, yum. It was served over garlic mashed potatoes with roasted carrots and was pure comfort food done right. My husband and daughter both ordered the ribeye, and they were flavorful and cooked to perfection. My son in law had the double bone pork chop, and every single one of us loved every bite of our meals. One thing to note, there is quite a bit of construction in the area right now. We had to circle the block once, and the designated parking behind the building was full, but we were able to grab a spot out front without too much trouble. And then came dessert. We shared several for the table, and every single one was a hit. The pecan praline cheesecake, do yourself a favor and add the caramel praline sauce, colossal carrot cake, crème brûlée, and bread pudding with a crème anglaise on top were absolutely delicious across the board. Easy 5 stars. We will absolutely be back.
