Dante and team have taken BBQ to a new level! I knew I was in for a great experience when I saw the J&R pits being used. They brisket was outstanding! Great bark, melt in your mouth without being over smoked. The sausage, spare ribs and turkey equally tender and so moist and flavorful. The Mexican Twinkies are a whole other level! Jalapeño's stuffed with birria meat and cream cheese, wrapped in bacon and served with the consomé, cilantro and onions with corn tortillas. Wow! We were visiting the area, enjoying Lake Texoma and Winstar Casino and met my cousins for lunch at Wheeler Barbecue. We are hard to impress with BBQ, since we've had the best in WestTexas. Wheeler's is excellent! They excelled in every way. Their menu selections and daily specials were all solid. All the meats that we had were delicious, the portions of the sides were Texas size, and so very tasty! The Pitmaster Pintos, Street Corn and Okra Were fabulous! I have always liked smoked turkey and this one is on point! Both of the sauces were very tasty and the mustard had a great flavor. We are huge BBQ junkies but also bbq snobs. This is the best we have found in North Texas. Worth the drive. Brisket was moist, great bark and just the right smoke. Pulled pork was juicy and had a hard time deciding between the two sauces, they were that good. We tried the Quesabirria Taco and the Mexico Twinkie and both were spot on delicious. Side game needs some help. The mac and cheese was runny, broccoli salad was same taste as coleslaw as they i'm guessing they use same dressing. Potato Salad was best one once you add a little salt and pepper to. With that said. We will be back because the meat was that good. 4 out of 5 because of side game read more

Definitely pricey! The sandwich was pretty good. The Mexican street corn and stuffed jalapeños were the best part but I probably won't pay the prices again. The Texas Smokehouse down the road is better and way cheaper. read more

First time here and we loved everything we tried. The owners and staff are very nice as well. We both had sandwiches with a side each. Instead of fries, I chose the okra. It's covered in a spicy dusting. Very good! Hubs had the Mac & cheese. Very cheesy and he loved it. I had sliced brisket and he had chopped. Both so good! Ok guys. I dont pretend im a bbq expert but I have been to a few of Texas top 50. So for me this is a decent place to eat. The brisket was good but smoke was little lite for me. Sausage was ok. Sides were decent. If your trying just understand it's not those top tier places like Hutchins,Franklins,Panther city, Terry Blacks. But for quick dinner or passing through, it's not a bad place to eat. read more

I loved Heritage, but might actually like Wheeler better! And that relieves me since I was already picky about the quality restaurants in Denison. Wheeler's meats are very high quality, and I absolutely love the sausage, which I'm particularly picky about. The macaroni and Mexican Street Corn were great! The brisket was fantastic. I wasn't a big fan of the fries, but I've always had an issue with seasoned fries. Just not my style. The place is great, though! Love that it's here. My only criticism is that the placement of the drink station, bisected by the black iron railing lent itself to lots of clogged traffic from those getting a drink after paying for their meal, as well as people refilling from being out on the floor. It will become a logistical issue long-term. read more

oh my!!! the best in sherman and denison!! the food is homemade!! everything we are was absolutely delicious!!!! my husband had the brisket sandwich and i had the turkey... amazing ! the owner genuinely appreciative and blessed us by talking with us. i feel we're family already! we're from el paso texas as the owner is from el paso as well. the server's ready to help all the customers!! well worth every penny!!! Brisket sandwich was phenomenal and they have the best crunchy okra with seasoning. We love the specials and daily rotating cobbler as well.

We have gotten Wheeler's and brought it home to eat several times now. We really like it and keep going back for more.
