The pizza is decent. The patio atmosphere is good (if you're drinking). The prices are too high for the quality though. $23 for a pizza is insanity. For the price of about 7 pizzas you can get a flight to Chicago and eat pizza there. Also, the place is desperately in need of a remodel. Service is awful at best, timer is ticking, we are sitting at a dirty table being completely ignored. Warm beer, we did eventually get served but the table was never wiped down. Charged for soda refills, food was just ok and over priced. We ate at Miles the night before, everything about it was better at about a third of the price, we'll go back there next time. My family and I are from Texas, and this was a great little dive in Iowa. The view from the dock was beautiful, and the lake was gorgeous as always. We sat outside and the environment was clean and very relaxing. The food was good as well, and they had very large portions. The service was good as well. Wanted a burger and beer so when I read that they had one of the best burgers, I decided to give it a try. Service was slow at first but once I got the bartender's attention, my orders were prompt. Ordered the Lue CB which is their basic burger. I would not say it is one of best. It was cooked well done and wasn't juicy. FF were crispy. Three beers, CB, and FF was $20. That seems to be in line with prices of other places in the area. Probably a good night spot, but was a little disappointed. read more

We went to The Ritz on Wednesday, which is Kids night. Kids eat pizza and ice cream for free. Overall, the experience was enjoyable because the restaurant sits on East Okoboji Lake and we ate on the deck next to the water. Beautiful scenery. The service, on the other hand, was not so great. It was obvious that our server didn't want to be there OR he just really didn't want to serve our table (4 adults and 4 kids). Several times, we all looked at each other like, "Are you kidding me?" No one brought us menus and we sat there and waited for a while, so we eventually asked people at other tables if they needed their menus anymore (before our waiter arrived). When our waiter finally arrived, he didn't introduce himself or anything and just asked, "Drinks?" I asked him if he had a beer menu and he just glanced at me and said , "No". Then he stood there in silence waiting for us to tell him what we wanted to drink even though we didn't know what they had to offer. There were many other examples of very poor service while we were there, but it was all very reflective of a waiter and restaurant who didn't care about good customer service. read more

Came for lunch at 12:45pm. There was a sign posted about being short staffed, so I prepped my children to be patient. At 2:05, we finally were served our food, after seeing our waitress once, 40 mins after placing our order. 5 minutes after being served, my children were ready to go. Grilled cheese was served cool to the touch, Thai chicken wrap has no flavor, chicken strips are soggy. My kids are in the car waiting to go somewhere else to get some good food while I wait for our waitress to acknowledge that we are here. I get being short staffed, I was a server for years. Was not impressed with the service here. The server seemed very annoyed that we were even there. Took awhile to get our first round of drinks. And, then didn't come back to check on us for 30 minutes. The wings we ordered were frozen in the middle, which she thankfully took off of our bill. The only thing we really enjoyed was the pizza. Let me start off to say... We get it, if they're busy the food may take a while. But after you watch them give your food to another table, by accident, and then take it back to become cold. You have a reason to be mad. Then they go on to re-serve it 15 minutes later and all of our food is cold. We send it back, and others at our table go to confront the owner. The owner comes out to talk to us and basically says, "We screwed up, what can we do to fix it?" At this point, we are getting a reorder for everyone at 50% off. The owner also put our food priority above everyone else. Bottom line, the biggest problem was our waitress that messed up big time. But once we got our food, it was great! Terrible service.. I would recommend NEVER going there. First, we had to wait 20 minutes before we even was asked what we wanted to drink. The waitress then admitted to us that she forgot about us and that she was tired from the night before. Her name was Tina. We then waited an hour and 10 minutes for our food, which was the absolute worse meal I have ever had. I had the grilled chicken breast sandwich. It was so extremely dry and tough. I couldn't even finish it. My husband had the hog burger, which was cold because it had probably sat too long before he received it. The prices were horrendous. It's was just an awful and disgusting experience. The restaurant is dirty and honestly smelled like cat feces. read more

My family has a place on the lakes, and we are certainly a fan of The Ritz. A lot of the negative reviews on here aren't wrong. The place is certainly hit or miss on service. If the place is packed, I can certainly see a 1 star review. My 4 stars is based on a simple rule we follow that has resulted in a much better experience. If the place looks packed, we pass. We tend to go early and boat up to increase our odds. We've never experienced bad food, and we love the fishbowls, the burgers, and the Super Nachos. For those who are complaining about the prices, I'm not sure they are out of line with the other restaurants you can boat up to in the area. I've never eaten inside as the deck is part of the experience, so when it's hot.. it's hot. I'm not sure I'd say the place is kid friendly, but I take my kids and they love the cheese balls. read more

Server was good, I had the hog and it was crap, buddy had burger and it was burned to a crisp, last guys had a soggy club sandwich and they offered to take off the burger, they should have taken all that crap back. read more

The Ritz is a MUST visit while at the Lakes! I have been a summer resident for over 20 yrs and the Ritz has always been On the top of our list. #2 burger this year in Iowa, Amazing and BEST pizza in the Boji area and the chicken quesadilla's are a must try! Best pizza and burger in the area hands down. Their burger is usually in the running for top burger in Iowa every year. Pizza is also handmade no frozen or pre-made pizza, but beware this place is a popular drinking and eatery don't be upset if you have to wait I've never been there and they weren't busy. read more

Minimum wait time on almost everything is 30 minutes, our pizza was almost an hour. WORST bathroom ever, dirty, no locks and one stall is the smallest I've ever been inside, a taller person than me could not use that stall. Asked for no meat, ended up with some pepperoni and ham slices. read more

I do not recommend! I went on kids night, and it was very busy. I ordered a bacon filled hamburger. I got a regular burger, and it took 45 minutes to get my food! The wrong food!! There was an old guy operating kids night. He made kids dance for candy and hula hoop for money. Then i asked him if i could hula hoop during parents session and he said no! My husband and I went here based off a stranger's recommendation at the lake boat access. Seeing how busy the place was on a Sunday night, we figured the food must be good so we stopped in. We chatted with who we thought was a friendly patron that helped me find the restroom. He approached us again seeing us just standing around and wondering if anyone had helped us yet and then lined us up a server. When we asked if the burgers or pizza would be faster he recommended the burgers would be quicker and told us they were named after his mom Lue. Turns out he must be the owner! We felt like we received VIP service from start to finish. He even brought us our beers and checked on us a few times to see how the food was. You'd be hard pressed to find an owner who cares as much for their patrons as him. The burgers were a great portion, juicy and had amazing flavor. The fries were perfectly seasoned and crisp! If we get back to this area again, we will be repeat customers. read more

There is nothing good to say about this bar. We were recommended this bar, so we came. It took 2.5 hours to FINALLY get our food, which i would call luke warm at best. Our appitizers also came at that time??? Service by waiter was also bad. I asked him to send over a manager, and he left and never came back. Poor service and overrated food. We were there the weekend of 8/7/15. Place is on the water and has a nice atmosphere with an outdoor patio as well as indoor seating. We were a party of ten people and were glad to be able to find a table, it all went downhill from there. We did not have to wait too long to get our order taken, what we did have to wait a long time for was our food. At best, we waited an hour and 45 minutes before finally being served. At about the hour and 40 mark I went to the waitress and politely told her that if our food was not served in the next five minutes we were going to simply get up and leave. Sure enough, within a few minutes the first thing they put on the table was the one pizza we ordered, after that was out on the table a few minutes they began to bring out our burger baskets as most of us ordered burgers, after all, the place is known for its burgers. Before I could take a bite, the owner approached me. Instead of apologizing to me about the wait he said he was told that I was rude to the waitress. As the good lord above as my witness, I was anything but rude. Was I factual, yes, was I very matter of fact, yes, but I was far from rude. Anyway I explained how long we waited and asked for 20% off our bill, he refused and said that the reason our food took so long was because the pizzas were taking a long time. Interesting considering the pizza was the first item that was served. We continued to talk, he begrudgingly offered 10% off. He was more defensive than what he should have been which is apologetic. After he left our table, I was finally able to eat my famous Lue burger, it was awful. I am going to guess it had been sitting under a heat lamp a long time because the bun was crispy and it crumbled. The burger was like a dry meatball, all in all it was one of the worst burgers I have ever had. My 13 year old son even commented that the burger he recently ate at Perkins was better than his Lue burger. I will never go back to this place and would forewarn others the same.
