Visited while on an overnight stay in the Berkshires. Great food and service. We shared a pizza and pasta dish along with bread (wonderful) and a Caesar salad. The pizza was as good as you would expect from a wood-fired oven. Toppings were plentiful and had good flavor. Bolagnese sauce on the pasta was exactly as it should be. If I'm being honest, nothing about this place stands out besides expensive entrees, and small dining area. The drinks are pricey, the service is usually less than friendly. If you get anything but the pizza there really isn't any flavor there. I would honestly rather go to a place like Arizona pizza. I could just get bad food a for a cheaper piece there. We came on a busy Friday night. We were seated promptly but didn't see our waitress for some time. I was solely drinking water, they gave me a small cup that was constantly empty. It took a long time for my husband's beer to arrive. We ordered a pizza and the eggplant parm. The verdue pizza was outstanding and would have been enough to feed us both. The eggplant was not impressive. Our waitress came and asked if we had decided on dessert, we said no, meaning not yet but she took it as no, we're done. Getting our check was the fastest service we had all night. The pizzas and entrees do not necessarily come out together, a man at the table next to us waited over 10 minutes longer for his pizza than the rest of his party's meals. Their dinners got cold while they waited. If it were my restaurant, I'd have a runner devoted to just running pizzas as they come out instead of every server having to constantly go to the pizza station and check if any of them are theirs. read more

This is a great find located a little west of downtown Pittsfield. We shared a plate of well-seasoned and perfectly fried calamari with marinara sauce. The restaurant has a wood-fired oven and turns out excellent pizza. We ordered the signature roasted garlic pizza. It came with ricotta, arugula and lots of mellow roasted garlic cloves. It was mouthwatering and we devoured every last bite. Our server was very friendly, perhaps a little too talkative. However, she forgot to bring our calamari, so instead of having it first as an appetizer, we wound up having to eat it along with the pizza. The place has a large bar area. That and the lack of soft furnishings to dampen the sound made for a rather noisy environment in which to have dinner. Still, we were able to carry on a conversation. After traveling all day and checking into a motel, we found The Roasted Garlic restaurant. My husband was not able to eat due to a medical problem. Our server Sage was most accommodating. She brought hot tea to my husband and I enjoyed a fabulous pizza (Verdue). It had a wonderful pesto sauce and delicious fresh vegetables. It was topped with my favorite greens, arugula. The pizza crust was thin and baked in a wood-fired oven....it was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten. I saved a couple pieces and hope my husband can enjoy some tomorrow. This place has great pizza!! All of their specialty pizzas sounded amazing but I went with the tried and true pepperoni. Lots of gooey cheese and a generous amount of pepperoni on top. The crust is soft and crunchy at the same time. Not quite Neapolitan but I would still call it a thinner crust (which I love). I also liked that their sauce was slightly sweet and had lots of herbs. We came over from Jimeny Peak for some pizza and beer in Pittsfield. We enjoyed a large Pizza Verdue with a fried calamari appetizer. I added sausage to the pizza, which otherwise is a veggie item. I had Goose Island ale and my wife had a Stella Artois. The service was friendly and attentive. The place is really a sports bar with six large screen tvs and a group of dedicated football fans at the bar. There is a large brick oven and a bar behind the counter. The place is clean, has large ceilings and large glass windows across the front and side. The restaurant was bustling this Saturday night. The calamari came with a lemony dip of some sort. A first for us. Pretty good. I'd recommend the Roasted Garlic. On our way back to Jimeny Peak, we decided to be adventurous and take local roads. We took a left out of the lot and made a quick right onto Gale and then Jason. We crossed West St, took Valentine, then made a left on Hancock and a right on Pecks. This takes you to a harrowing ride on unpaved, narrow and quite bumpy roads past Balanced Rock State Park. Old Orebed and Silver eventually lead to Bailey and paved roads once again. I'd consider the weather and the condition/capabilities of your car before venturing it. read more

Delicious dinner! Fast service! We were in and out in less than an hour which was pretty much the amount of time we safely had before heading off to Tanglewood. The Margherita pizza was outstanding--a delicious crust, San Marzano tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil cooked in an wood fired oven. It was a delicious pizza! My husband ordered a burger. I don't really get it. I have worked in a lot of restaurants and clubs. Never have I argued with a customer or even witnessed a co-worker arguing with a customer. Today our waitress argued with me over the bill which was clearly wrong on their part. I ordered some chicken wings which were listed on the menu for $13.25. When the bill came they charged me $20.00, a difference of $6.75. She told me that "there's a wing shortage". "The menu says that wings are $13.00", I said. She came back with "No, they are $18.00" not resolving anything but, instead, continuing with making an argument. I asked her to look at the menu and, sure enough, the menu says $13.25. No apology from her or the "manager". Instead she hands me $5.00 showing that not only are these people kind of rude, they also can't do simple arithmetic. You wouldn't mind -who needs the unnecessary stress-but the wings weren't even good. Not even close to the Old Forge. The bad thing is that I now have to find a new place to get my inspection stickers; they're next door. I used to drop my car off and go over to this place and have a beer or two while I was waiting for my car(s). Now I don't want to go back there-they're too ignorant! read more

Was seated at a freezing cold table next to a giant freezing window conveniently placed next to the freezing cold door that kept opening. Without any of that, even if I was as warm as possible this place is a solid ONE star, our waitress and the pulled pork quesadilla we had as an app gave the second star, I ask- how does one restaurant mess up not only ONE but TWO chicken dishes? I got the franchise it was terribly sweet and tasted like it was missing everything including the "chicken" the potatoes and Brussels sprouts however those were 5 stars, my boyfriends CHICKEN PARM (how you can ruin that is beyond me) was terrible,absolutely terrible. There is a cute little train and runs along the interior of the restaurant and the bar area was decorated nicely, the menu left me wanting GARLIC after all the place is called "the roasted garlic" there might have been two things garlic related on the menu (disappointing) we came here on a whim based off of yelp reviews and straight curiosity we've driven past a few times and I'm the garlic queen, so I was extra excited about this place. I don't think my expectations were too high so the fact that we were let down by two poorly made chicken dishes that had zero garlic in them, I basically just choked it down and wanted to leave... I also sense some inconsistency, many people mentioned having bread and GARLIC brought to the table, that didn't happen, ever. Our waitress apologized for everything taking so long and it a) wasn't her fault and b) the place was super packed so once again not her fault but I honestly feel like this place struck out. You cant be that bad in every area. Ill give them one more try and ill change the review if things are better I'm hopeful but also a little scared. read more

We were staying in the area after a visit to Mass MoCA. Asked the front desk at the hotel for a recommendation for dinner and he recommended the Roasted Garlic. We ordered the Bomber (? i think that was the name) pizza. Wow! Best pizza i've had in a month of Sundays. We thought of eating there again on the return trip home, but decided on a different route. Food was okay, but the service was atrocious. Waited 30 minutes for anyone to serve us, let alone bring us some ice water and take our drink order. Then when we complained, the waitress made it seem like we weren't being understanding because she was so busy. Frankly she was down right rude to us right in front of her manager who didn't even discipline her. As I said, the food is okay but be prepared for arrogant, lousy service. Wow, great find! We were driving through and stopped here based on the Yelp recommendations. Right-on mixture of pizza for the kids and delicious higher end sandwiches for the grown ups. I had the meatball sub which was perfectly sized on a baguette and delicious addition of pesto and arugula. Husband loved his black bean burger. The best is the home made potato chips. Service was only average - never checked in or followed up after food was delivered. Disappointed on that front. Excellent Ribeye special last night though with great pizzas (their primary fare) enjoyed by my family as well.
