Great place! We ate there 2 days in a row. Great food and service. Highly recommend. I just can't say enough great things about it.

DISAPPOINTED- Mr.Romance and I came in expecting good food at a good price. The prices were perfectly matched for the items in the menu. Unfortunately the items on the menu were mediocre at best. Scallops wrapped in bacon, bacon was medium raw. The Lobster bisque had no seafood in it at all and the bisque was just colorful water. Maryland Crab Cake-1 taste and texture more like potato pancake. The two extra stars are for the Chocolate Martini- out of this world. Mr. Romance and I passed on dessert. Nice atmosphere and the wait staff were very good. Over all the food tasted very good but chef elevate your presentation the apps, salads and entrees were uninspiring. The down side was I asked for my bone in pork chop to be juicy and it came out dry. Disappointing for a steakhouse. read more

2025 Dec 18: 1) cowboy ribeye medium rare 2) fried calamari 3) French onion soup 4) tuna sashimi 5) yellowtail sashimi 6) monster roll 7) rare 297 salad. The steak, vegetable in the salad, French onion soup and fried calamari are excellent, as good as food that you would expect from top restaurants in NYC. In comparison, the sushi is not at the same level that you expect from top Japanese restaurants in NYC. I think they would do better by not offering sushi at all because the level of the other dishes raises the level of expectations so high that it is hard for the sushi to meet. read more

We made reservations last night for a date night out. It was a nice surprise to walk in to live music and the ambience was perfect for a date. Our server, Caleb, was phenomenal, very attentive and kind. We both had filet mignon and I had mine Oscar style which was delicious. Everything was cooked perfect, the drinks were great and we enjoyed our time there. We'll definitely be back in the future and I highly recommend! read more

Brand new steakhouse inside the Hotel on North in Pittsfield - witnessed some minor service SNAFUs (food to wrong tables, etc) but they're brand new, so it's excusable, and I personally received fine service - based in the very positive attitudes from the staff, I'm sure these things will be fine tuned in no time. The ambiance is great - compliments the hotel nicely and has a great rustic steakhouse feel The watermelon mojito was excellent - not overly sweet, but had a nice, balanced flavor The oysters were very 'meh' - would have liked to see a mignonette, especially given the lack of a briny flavor and a more mineral heavy taste. Though at $3 each, it's a good deal if you don't need the mignonette The pasta was awesome (no surprise as I understand this was opened by the owners of RJs). Great vodka sauce and the breaded (crispy) chicken rather than grilled is an interesting choice, but a good one! Looking forward to my next trip up read more

started with oysters which were fresh served with the basic sauces . only one oyster option blue point my least fav .Unfortunately must agree with other reviews that this is just an overpriced basic steakhouse. It only has one aged steak(the tomahawk) on the menu which I have never heard of in an American steakhouse. Even though I knew my cut was not aged I expected some spectacular treatment of the beef. My rib eye special was cooked a bit over than my requested medium rare and for $65 just was not very good beef. Supermarket whatever. And by supermarket I mean cheap. Outback and Applebees have better steak.beef slathered in a over salted mushroom goop sauce that was billed as truffle with zero of that flavor. mashed potatoes were cardboard -tasted box made. star of my plate was grilled broccolini which was delicious . rib eye had nice char and seasoning but meat was just not good. I don't know why they served the steak on the smallest plate ever so I could not escape the atrocious mushroom goop sauce I was given . The positives are that it's a swank restaurant/bar and my cocktail was tasty and strong. Perhaps appetizers and sushi are better than what I ordered .Not bad though limited wine selection. service speedy and attentive. I was staying in the hotel so if I came to Berkshires again might try more drink and apps before going someplace else for dinner . There are many better restaurants in the area to spend money on so would not recommend for a memorable dinner. read more

I planned a family reunion at Hotel on North, and we held a Saturday night dinner at RARE 297. This was the first time in 30 years I had NO COMPLAINTS! In fact, I heard many, many compliments after the dinner. The food was excellent. Santiago at the restaurant worked with me to accommodate dietary issues and budget constraints. The staff (service) was attentive, and the ambience was exceptional. We held the event in a private room. Every detail was anticipated. Santiago worked with me on table placement. First time at Rare 297 on a bike riding visit to the Berkshires with friends. The ambiance and service were impeccable. Kenneth our waiter could not have been more delightful and accommodating. The brussel sprout appetizer, a special was amazing and memorable. Our party was also very pleased with the mussels and calamari. The bread was also delicious. The filet mignon was also top notch and comparable to the finest steak restaurants in New York. I gave 4 stars only because we were disappointed with the flounder stuffed with crab meat. Three in our party had it as the waiter said it was a good choice. The flounder was soggy without taste and drowning in the lobster sauce that lacked much lobster. This was just very unimpressive compared to the rest of the dinner. Other than that , the drinks and dessert were also excellent. We will definitely return, but not for the flounder read more

What a surprise! My wife and I had a delicious dinner - I had seafood over paplardelle (a special) and my wife shrimp scampi over risotto. Our waiter knew all the wines and made a great recommendation, the atmosphere is nice but not stuffy, and the white tablecloths were appreciated. read more

My girlfriend and I are here in MA for snowboarding for our anniversary so I found from what i saw on the internet to be a nice restaurant to splurge on the occasion only to be tremendously let down by everything that was brought to the table. The $65 T-bone steak i received was an embarrassment to any steakhouse. They did not render the fat, causing the fat on the edge to be hard, white and not edible. The veggies that came with the steak were completely unseasoned and tasted like they came from a bag that was thrown in a microwave. But the real surprise of the night was the rare297 "salad". Little did we know (and the waiter did not tell us) it was not a salad even though it was listed as one. It was a caprese. This should not be listed as a $16 salad. They brought out 2 slices of mozzarella, 2 thin sliced onions, and 2 tomatoes. On the menu the "salad" stated it came with roasted peppers as well which were no where to be found. Granted we said something and they brought us out a small actual salad on the house to split. By far the biggest waste of time and $200. Do not go to this restaurant and spend your money elsewhere. On the bright side to say something positive, the beer was cold and the staff was friendly and they had many daily specials. read more

We had a wonderful dining experience at Rare 297 yesterday with friends. Everything we ordered was delicious and the service and presentation of our food was over the top! I had the pistachio crusted Halibut that was delicious and perfectly cooked moist with a light cream sauce and mushrooms. My husband had pasta with vodka sauce and chicken which he enjoyed very much. Our friends enjoyed a perfectly cooked Filet Mignon grilled to perfection, and a short rib dish that was delicious. Kenneth our server was professional and catered to all our needs. They have many bugs to work out. Took 20 minutes for someone to take our drink orders, then 25 minutes to get them. Another half hour to take our food orders during which we had to ask for bread and water. We finally got our food an hour later (2.25 hours after our reservation and arrival time). Never got the appetizer and baked potatoes had been in a hot oven for hours. The steaks were good. Sat with dirty dishes in front of us for 15 minutes and finally got our checks. It's too bad because they did a great job setting up an upscale restaurant. The manager came over and asked how things were, so we told her and her response was almost nonchalant. read more
