Service is quite literally horrible. I sat waiting for my WATER (like how long does it take to get a water) for at least 20 minutes. The food was alright but still took at least 1 hour. would not recommend sitting in the uncomfortable chairs waiting for your food for an hour. Bring your own if you want to wait. This place has probably the best drink specials in town. A nice friendly staff and management , the food is always hot and out on time and the drinks are always cold and just a holler away. Good atmosphere, decent food. We went on a busy Friday night around 6:30. We had to wait for a table for approximately 20 minutes but that was okay, we had a drink at the tiki bar. When we were seated the waitress was friendly, but a bit flustered because it was busy. We ordered cheese curds and frickles and both came out hot and were delicious. My husband ordered the fish fry, which again was very hot and pretty average. I had a Cuban with sweet potato fries which was also average. We each had a French martini, well okay, we each had two, they were delicious! So all in all, the food is good, but average, and the view of the river from the patio is great. Everyone there was very friendly and our waitress stopped by frequently to make sure we were taken care of. We'll definitely be back. read more

The service was absolutely lousy. Nowhere on the menu did we see a notice that a 20% gratuity would be added. My wife insisted it be removed. A person who joined our group late got his food before they took anyone else's orders. Granted he did tell them he was in a hurry, but they could have taken all orders at the same time, or after turning in his. It was 20 minutes after my wife told them we were ready to order before they got to the rest of us. They got my order wrong. When they took it back they were not gone long enough for a recook. I have been to "The Rock" many times over the years and have always had a great experience. The patio is incredibly nice with the wide Rock River looking more like a lake. Food has always been really good but was disappointed on our last visit as we saw the nachos were no longer on the menu. Hopefully they will be returning soon. The Rock also makes for an excellent sports bar year round with many TV's and an expansive & open dining/ bar area. read more

Every time i come through Beloit,Wi, this is a must stop. I've had a variety of meals here but the best so far is the is the bleu cheese burger. It come with bacon, bleu cheese, tomato, onion and lettuce. The burger was cooked to order and with a choice of side. The waitress wasn't all that friendly but she did her job. There are times that I shy away from places that appear gimmicky or replicas of the Shenanigans bar in "Waiting": obnoxious signage, super-sized menu, etc. The water--the Rock River, to be exact--was the initial draw to the Rock Bar, because, in other ways, it appeared to have all of the aforementioned. But, I was proven wrong, yet again. When will I learn that not every place should be judged by its appearance? I am trying to recall where I heard that. Hmm. Ha. My fellow diner and I had a very pleasant experience. Our server seemed a bit shy, from her being soft-spoken to little eye contact, but it in no way was she rude. The food made me forget about anything else, even if I had thought her service off-putting in any way. I ordered the grilled tuna wrap without the aioli and upgraded to the sweet potato fries. I was leary about ordering the tuna at a place that does not specialize in seafood, but I went with my gut. It turned out to be the best decision. The tuna was prepared properly and had been marinaded in a delicious balsamic and spice blend. With the addition of the crisp romaine lettuce and ripe tomatoes, the tuna shined. There was a great combination of sweet, tangy, and fresh flavors that proved my gut feeling. The Rock Bar came through, and they did so even more with their sweet potato fries. I have tried my fair share of sweet potato sides, and these were crispy on the outside with that tender inside that people want in a fry. I NEVER finish my meal. Never. I always set myself up for taking a half of it home for a leftover lunch the next day. I did not get a doggy bag at the Rock Bar, because I devoured my meal. Write that down, and then take a nice, leisurely drive to Beloit. Not only will you have beautiful river views, but you will also learn why this Yelper did not come away with a to-go box. read more

I've been a few times while visiting my brother and have always enjoyed the food. We have come during the summer where they offer outdoor seating by the river and in the winter. Our most recent time here we came on a Monday and there weren't very many people here but they had $3 off all burgers and $2.50 Captain Morgan and Jack Daniel mixers. We had the BBQ Bacon burger and the Southwest and both were very good. I would definitely get the Southwest again but if you don't like spicy I wouldn't recommend it since it is covered in a spicy sauce and jalapeños. Highly recommend this place for good drinks, good food and good service. What else do ya need except while we were there we listened to a super talented live band (Gary the Band). Was 100% satisfied with my experience at this restaurant! I went with my boyfriend on Saturday evening. We were seated quickly and in an area of our preference. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. Overall a decent place to hang out, some food I've had there is good, some not as good, but yesterday, I had the pork tenderloin sandwich, and while it was ok, it definitely did not impress me with the size! Normally a pork tenderloin sandwich extends outside the bun quite a bit, this one you couldn't even see it under the top bun! Maybe next time I go it will impress me a bit more. read more

We were very disappointed. They had a special Valentines Day dinner menu advertised and we made reservations for Valentine's Day dinner 2 weeks in advance. We got there 10 minutes early. No one else was in the lobby waiting, but we decided to sit at the bar to wait. They gave us a pager. Saw a table opened up and watched as they sat a foursome there prior to us. Hostess said they came in before us and had reservations at the same time. We then waited 45 MINUTES for a table! We were further amazed when a couple next to us at the bar told us they had 5 pm Valentines Day reservations and got so tired of waiting they finally decided to say "F*** it" and just eat at the bar. If you make reservations here, especially for a special occasion, be aware that they are meaningless.The food was good, but not worth the price, especially considering the extremely poor service. If I were the manager here, and I wanted to keep my business going, I would hire more mature wait staff who understand what it means to have a reservation. We won't be going back. read more

I have loved the Rock historically, but we went there last night hoping for a steak sandwich or Mushroon and Swiss Burger to find they do serve those no more. In fact the menu is doen to a few items, and we left without having a meal. When we asked when the good menu items would return we were told NEVER. I like the atmosphere - just a casual, local place. I have not been when they have live music - just regular Saturday nights, sitting at the bar. Basic pub food - burgers, etc, which was good. Food was hot, and while the burger was over-cooked, that's hard to avoid in a bar that's not specializing in burgers. They have a nice beer selection - and the bartender doesn't pretend to know more than she does about the beers - let me try before I committed to a novel selection. Now, I have to say - they are a big enough place that I would expect them to make their own fried cheese curds (this is Wisconsin, after all!), but they use the pre-made, frozen curds - blech! Other than the disappointing cheese curds, I enjoyed my dinner and appreciated the excellent service by our bartender. read more

The Rock has decent food and beers on tap. The food is great some days and sub par on others. It is hit or miss. The service is the same. Sometimes you will get a waiter that is attentive and fabulous and others they will forget about you. If we go here, we do so for the great patio on the river and convenience, not because the food is stellar. read more

This place used to have decent food but the overhauled their menu and took off all original menu items. The food has gone so far down hill that they need to just go back to the old menu. Until this last visit I had never sent food back in my life. I sent back the nachos I ordered because the cheese had been burned and the chips were black. How does that even happen????? Then I got onion rings that were also burned almost black and tasted awful. I could tell that the waitress felt bad and I wasn't her fault. They need to hire some people that can Cook!! read more

Friday night fish fry is great. I take my family (myself my wife and our 2 kids 1&4) once every couple months. Our only complaints would be waiting to be seated sometimes can be to long with a few kids and every other visit the service will take to long for refills and to bring the check. All and all still a good place to eat on a Friday night. We will continue to frequent this restaurant/bar. read more

In town for the day and looked for a non-chain for lunch. Saw this place on Yelp. It looked interesting, so we thought we would give it a try. Very glad we did!! Husband raved over his Cuban. The pork had more flavor than expected. I had the Pub burger. Burger Patty was delicious with the mushrooms and onions mixed into the meat. The fries were fresh and nicely seasoned. But the highlight of the meal for Husband was the great Craft Beer menu. Nice assortment of beers, including several local beers he had never heard of before.
