Gabby's Dollhouse "whimsical" cake, red velvet

I loved the cake made for my niece's birthday! They were very quick to reply via email, the cake was shockingly fresh and yummy and not too sweet for the kids, and it had a flawless finish. The cake was finished on time and when I went to pick it up, the staff was super warm and welcoming! I will 100% be getting all my cakes for special occasions at this bakery. This needed to be perfect and it was !

I ordered a birthday cake through the Rolling Pin website. Ordering through their website was easy. The cake was pretty good, but kind of expensive. For $55 I was expected an amazing cake. But the cake was still pretty good. Another quibble was the long lineup outside the store.

This is my second attempt going to this place in hopes to get doughnuts. We got there around 4:30pm and there were only two doughnuts left. So sad. The first time I went (which was like months ago) we got there and they were closed We did purchase a few things and they were yummy. I just was really disappointed that I didn't get what I was looking for. Now I know this is definitely like a mid day visit kind of thing. Definitely going try a third attempt. (You know because third time is a charm) and I will revise my review if I see fits. The women at the counter were very pleasant I must say!

    Yummy donuts!

I was looking for something a little different to get to celebrate a birthday at my work. Donuts were the request, so I started on a quest for 'fancy donuts'... A quick Google of "donuts near me" turned up this gem, The Rolling Pin. Their website was amazing and the drool started to collect as I browsed their many flavours of donuts. It says that if you want a full dozen, that you should call in...but maybe that's if you want a full dozen of one flavour? Either way, I stopped by around 1pm on a Thursday and was happy to see that there were still many donuts of all flavours to choose from. Maybe it was my lucky day! I got a dozen donuts made up of: Tutti Fruitti, PB & J, Pecan Cinnamon Bun, Red Velvet, Birthday Cake, & Sea Salt Caramel Maple Bacon. Wow. I got to try a taste of all of them, and it was hard to pick a fave! I'd have to go with the Red Velvet since I'm a sucker for cream cheese icing. The donuts themselves were light and tasty, and just SO different than the garb donuts you get at Tim Horton's! These were a treat indeed. One minus is that they don't take (or want to accept?) credit cards, so it's debit or cash only. I need to come back though and try the cupcakes and cookies...and the rest of the donuts! Everything looked SO GOOD!

We were in the area so we decided to drop in to satisfy our sweet tooth. We've seen their donuts featured on IG many times so we thought why not. We got a couple donuts, a couple cupcakes and a birthday cake bar and there was 1 common theme - all the desserts were WAY TOO SWEET. Like so sweet you couldn't taste any other flavors. The blueberry cheesecake donut - I'm not sure where the cheesecake part was, the cream you see on top was just plain cream. The cupcakes we got had sickeningly sweet icing, but the cake part was good. The birthday cake bar was all sugar, it needed some salt. Overall I wouldn't return because I enjoy more complexity in my deserts behind just sweetness. Staff was friendly and the shop was clean. The americano we got was also nicely made.

Ordered here with some coworkers. Service was nice and speedy at the shop. Donuts - 2.5/5 Overall they were all WAY too sweet. I personally like sweet things however even for me these were way to sweet. My coworkers all thought the same too. When we were ordering we noticed other reviewers mention these donuts being too sweet as well but wanted to try them for ourselves. Moreover, at $4 per donut these are WAY too expensive. Other donut shops like Sanremo have balanced flavours, not being overly sweet and cost around $2 per donut.

Rainbow themed 1st birthday cake with removable smash cake

I called all my usual spots, looking for a pastel themed rainbow cake for my daughters 1st birthday with a removable top layer that I could use as a smash cake. I was told again and again this wasn't possible or that it would cost upwards of $300-$400. A friend follows Rolling Pin on IG and suggested I reach out to them. They promptly responded, no issues with my request and the price was $130!!!!!!!! The cake was EVERYTHING I wanted and more. It was a huuuge hit and my daughter loved it too! On a side note- when we went to pick up the cake we were blown away by all the delicious desserts and will definitely be going back!

The Rolling Pin is definitely good if you are into sweet and want to go in sugar coma after having one of their cookies or donuts. The donuts are cute and quite innovative especially those one that comes with a shot on the side! My S'mores cookie was ultra sweet but luckily The Rolling Pin carries Trebilcock Coffee from a coffee roaster in Pickering! Drinking that might help you balanced out the sweetness!

Chef's Special - strawberry, chocolate donut (Feb 28)

I love sweets! If I could eat sweets for all three meals without any negative consequence, I would. Anyway, I came across The Rolling Pin through Instagram. The donuts looked really good and I like the shot of various flavours. I dropped by on a Saturday afternoon to check out this place. It was pretty crowded with a lot of locals stopping in for a snack. I had the strawberry/chocolate donut with a cup of coffee. For the price point, this donut does justice as it is pretty dense with sugary goodness. I like the layout of this little shop; there's a few tables in the back along with a counter seating area in the front. Sadly, I can't come here everyday, but I will definitely drop by next month for another cheat eat. Good for: donuts, baked goods

The donuts were very unique and delicious. Very fresh! My favourite was the lemon meringues donut. Also got some cookies and those were equally delicious especially red velvet and peanut butter. You can tell this place is popular from the amount of people who go. Only wish the hours were a bit better.

These are the BEST donuts in Toronto! We visited this cute bakery just to try their donuts and it not only lived up to my expectations but exceeded them. We also ordered one of their sugar cookies which was good but it was definitely the donuts that stole the show. The donuts were very soft and airy but also packed a lot of flavour. I especially loved how many different and unique flavour combinations they had. My personal favourite was the Blueberry Cheesecake as the cheesecake filling was wonderfully rich but not overly sweet. Another donut I recommend trying is the classic combination of Peanut Butter & Jelly where the saltiness of the PB balanced out the sweetness of the jelly perfectly. The atmosphere of the bakery was very cozy and sitting by the window and people watching with donuts and coffee was a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning. DO NUT miss a chance to come here and try theIr donuts!

I had cold, but I went out yesterday. I felt sick and I found The Rolling Pin. I went in and I asked if they had some cold drinks or not. The staff was very kind and told me what they have. I got Iced tea, which was Peach Iced tea. It was so good. They had upstairs and they had pretty good space to eat in. They have nice tables and seats. I know they are donuts shop, but I wanted to compliment their service and drink. Since I knew The Rolling Pin was a famous donuts shop, so I got two donuts to take home. They were very good. I had one in the next morning, but it was still good.

But there was no "lava" at all... just a layer of cream sitting on a thick tart base. You do get some matcha flavour, but definitely not that rich and flowing matcha sauce I saw in those online reels. Matcha Mont Blanc - Too sweet. The green noodle-shaped topping is actually made from a kind of bean paste - not much matcha taste, but had a strong bean flavour instead. And again, it was too sweet to my liking. Taro Tart - This one was good. Taro-flavoured cream on top, with taro paste underneath, then a layer of custard with mochi at the bottom. Had a rich taro flavour. Still a bit sweet, but not as overwhelming as the Mont Blanc. Overall it was not bad, although TBH I haven't really found great matcha desserts in Toronto so far.

I love the little hole in the wall vibe and the modern look they've done with the space. The staff members were a little on the quiet side and a little tough to hear (and may not have fully understood me?) but were very kind and polite. The pastry selection, while maybe a little on the small side, is absolutely otherworldly in appearance. If I could have taken home one of everything, I absolutely might have. I ended up getting the creme brulee tart, pistachio croissant roll, and the tiramisu latte. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until I opened the box later that I got the one cocoa dusted matcha tart instead of the pistachio roll. Oh well, I'm not going to complain too much since, as I said, I was happy with literally anything I got. The creme brulee tart - 10/10 would recommend. Crunchy, flaky tart with creamy creme brulee hit all the right notes of layers of flavor and texture. Mmm, delicious. The matcha tart was decent though I may have been slightly bummed from not getting what I had been expecting. Regardless, another delicious treat, though definitely more on mellower side flavor-wise than the creme brulee. Still good but not quite what I was hoping for. The same went for the tiramisu latte. While I absolutely loved the presentation with the lady fingers on top, it did make it a little difficult to actually get in there and use them with the cup being so full before they got soggy and eventually disintegrated into the drink. The drink itself was OK but again pretty mild on both flavor and sweetness (and I definitely like things a little on the sweeter side). I feel like maybe a sweetened mascarpone whipped topping or something to really cap it off would have finished the look and maybe rounded out the drink a bit. Oh well, maybe next time. All in all, maybe not my go-to coffee shop in town, but definitely a great little place to stop in for a treat or two!

This place was also super poppin' when I got there. It was earlish in the day around 10:30am and it seemed all the tables were pretty much taken. They are adding a dinner menu which is very exciting. Their pastries are phenomenal!!! Picked up a plum and pistachio tart, a chocolate mousse cake and an apple Danish for my mom. Plus a chocolate caramelized croissant. So much butter, and yet so good. Brought my container, which they happily used. The last time I visited this spot back in 2022, I vowed I would come back and take up space in that beautiful bay window seat. Yet I haven't followed through with that yet. One day. They also changed the name, since I was there last it was called Le Conciliabule Lab. Le Conciliabule means, "speak easy", as their website says. It was used back in the day to describe a place where people would come together and talk about everything and nothing. I can definitely say that happens here. What a beautiful concept, "everything and nothing". Now named Bisou, which means kiss. That's actually really simple and sweet. Since every pastry and any food item or beverage enjoyed here is a kiss for your tastebuds. Love it. Keep going team. You are amazing!
